Song Covers SoundClash #39
Leona, it was clearly an attempt to replicate Run's success, which didn't really happen, But it's a nice cover. Really not keen on Ryan Adams...

Song Covers SoundClash #38
Actually Lorde for me, I really like her version of that. Never been keen on the Mad World cover.

Chart Battle Rewind: Spice Girls vs Martine McCutcheon vs Ricky Martin
I actually like Martine the most, find it quite an underrated song, fun singalong pop. I found the Spice Girls single a bit underwhelming compared to past releases, and She Bangs is fun but not a favourite of mine.

RontBet thoughts (not AI). Close odds at the top as I don't see anything running away with it and think it will be close. Will just do 25/1 and up but there are several others not mentioned that sound big too, argh! Winner/top five contenders: 4/1 HENDINIA • Mae Muller - Breakaway 5/1 KLUMINICAN REPUBLIC • Orbital & Tilda Swinton - Deepest 5/1 SCOTLAND 2 • Model/Actriz - Cinderella 5/1 BØTANIKKÄ • Debbii Dawson - You Killed The Music 6/1 PESTOLIA • KETTAMA - It Gets Better (Edit) 8/1 ALTYR MUUNILINST • Lydia Night - Pity Party 8/1 TERRA AVIUM • KASHIWA Daisuke - Ice 8/1 AEROCHE • Minuit Machine - Hold Me 12/1 CHEIRON • MARIS - Give Me A Sign (feat. Caroline Kingsbury) 12/1 NELIÖNOIR • DEBBY FRIDAY - 1/17 Also in the possible big hit/dark horse mix: 14/1 BRONZIL • MØ - Keep Møving 14/1 DANÆVIIA • Polo & Pan - Petite Etoile (feat. Beth Ditto) 14/1 RÉPUBLIQUE D'ÁSKORZA • Elodie - Mi Ami Mi Odi 15/1 SKALL • Burial - Boy Sent From Above 18/1 GREENFROZE • Song Sohee - Not A Dream 18/1 JADAKISSNIA • goneMUNE - AMNESIA 20/1 BEN'S SANCTUARY • Zoe Wees - Traitor 20/1 BALEGHDE • Daya - Don't Call 22/1 TRIFOSKI • MICHELLE - Oontz 22/1 TAAHINO • Chloe Qisha - Sex, Drugs & Existential Dread 22/1 COR LUPUS • Momma - I Want You (Fever) 24/1 AESTHETICA • Michael Medrano - SYLVIA 24/1 AELANDOR • Trikk - Fortuna 24/1 HINTERLANDIA • Blue Hawaii - I Felt Love 25/1 JUPITERDONIA • The Ting Tings - Good People Do Bad Things 25/1 WHY SO SIRIUS • Xina Mora & Metrika - 666 (Demonio)

Voted! That was super tough, I really liked 25 songs and didn't mind quite a few more. Several changes since my semi votes, with a couple of big growers. Fantastic final!

Brutal, I love the 'mid-table filler' and 'wrong semi energy' comments. It really has us read doesn't it. Not the 'slight backlash effect' of winning a year ago.

Round 2: Year End Survivor #114
Will stick with Razorlight, as I'd sooner put on You'll Be Sorry to that. Here And Now was always a bit limp in its single version but they did it well on tour in a new mix recently.
-
Round 8: Ultimate Survivor #11
Kaiser Chiefs again, shame Robyn departed before the top three. I prefer five of the songs that have gone to Kaisers and Avril tbh.
-
Round 5: Year End Survivor #113
Easily Holly Valance.

Total bangers not on streaming that DIDN'T get to #1
For my playlists I'd love: Bellefire - All I Want Is You Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott - Car Wash Element Four - Big Brother UK Theme (the recent revamp is on there) Friday Hill - Baby Goodbye Jason Downs feat Milk - White Boy With A Feather Ladies First - I Can't Wait Mousse T vs The Dandy Warhols - Horny As A Dandy Mylo vs Miami Sound Machine - Doctor Pressure Savage Garden - I Want You '98 Tanel Padar & Dave Benton - Everybody (2001 Eurovision winner) No.1 singles missing include Baz Luhrman's Sunscreen (not whatever awful vocal version they replaced it with), Various Artists' Perfect Day, Mr Blobby, Justice Collective etc... Also there are loads of UK radio edits/hit versions of stuff missing that has other versions available. Off the top of my head, Angel City - Love Me Right, Coolio - C U When U Get There, The Corrs - Give Me A Reason, Delta Goodrem - Throw It Away (a radio edit by True North aka Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy was made but the single was cancelled), Hear'say - The Way To Your Love, Karen Ramirez - Looking For Love (the version on Spotify sounds like a demo vocal), Kele Le Roc - Little Bit Of Lovin' (this was pitched up for the single release), Love Inc - Broken Bones, Modjo - Chilln', Robbie Williams - Let Me Entertain You...there are loads of others.

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2025
It's brilliant, just makes me think though how well they could have done in the contest with a ballad like this.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 25/04/25
That's great for Lorde, hope she can stick around up there - hearing it on a lot of TikTok videos already.

Indie/Rock Track of the Year; Quarter-Final 1 2025
Went for Oklou, Sleep Token and Fontaines D.C

Self Esteem - A Complicated Woman
Very pleasantly surprised by the album as I found the singles to be a mix of verging on decent or a bit naff. Love I Do And I Don't Care (it has the same crushing bleakness and spoken word charm of I Do This All The Time), Cheers To Me (great pop), The Curse and The Deep Blue Okay on first listen. Mother is entertaining and 69 and If Not Now, It's Soon work better in the context of the album. Seems to be getting very mixed reviews, seen a few 3-star and a few 5-star so far! Think I'd give it 4, it's not perfect.

Song Covers SoundClash #37
Primal Scream and Kate Moss sounds better to me, some Goldfrapp vibes to the production. Not a fan of that Jessica cover sadly.

Chart Battle Rewind: Oasis vs Rihanna
Oasis - it was their best single in some time at that point. Rihanna’s debut is fun but not a career highlight from her for me now we know what followed. I think after her next couple of singles came and went quickly I thought she was going to have an Amerie type career! Makes you wonder what could have been if single choices and fate had gone other ways for both of these artists.

Now That's What I Call Music! [Part 7]
It’s a nice touch to include their original version of Young At Heart, even though it’s not very good compared to the cover.
-
Herbilore BJSC 175 Entry
Me too, for the same reason.

Song Covers SoundClash #36
Your Song for me, quite a pretty version of that. The Blue one has that Stargate production that gives it a very specific early 00s sheen, but I've never loved the song much.

Now That's What I Call Music! [Part 7]
How else can Now rinse the 80s? Pick off album tracks of course! The only surprise is that it took so long. I guess I'll buy it as I don't own many of those albums so hopefully will find some interesting tracks.
