Wishing I had sent something else and rooting for my 12 pointer which I doubt will do that much, and 10 pointer who in the last week I’ve discovered two songs by that I have found I unexpectedly enjoy.

100% agree. Always take the risk. Don’t worry about the streak, being interesting is more rewarding. And what if you end up sending the less satisfying safe song and don’t get the AQ and it ends up going out anyway? This year more than ever before has shown that risks are being awarded in the results.

Tom showing as No.1 for me, it was a very impactful performance and I had a feeling it would do big things on iTunes. Shame such TV performances rarely move the needle on streaming as it was a real moment and deserves to chart.

I liked both of these. I had a lot of time for Sam Bailey and I bought Skyscraper. It was a shame they didn't put her cover of Something by The Beatles on the CD single as I downloaded that on iTunes I enjoyed it so much. Obviously she was a power ballad singer, but I enjoyed her different treatment of these songs. Scream & Shout I absolutely loved at the time (it got to No.1 in my chart) although it sounds incredibly dated now. Great to see Britney on another No.1 though and loved her British accent attempt. Just a super catchy song too.

Babydoll is an unexpected title to appear twice in the top 100 with different songs. Just listened to the Jamie Miller song of that name, it sounds like it was inspired by the production of Man I Need with a sprinkle of Fleetwood Mac's Everywhere. Very 80s, especially with the sax. Nice that he's Welsh as we don't get many Welsh artist hits these days, hopefully it can climb into the top 75. Also listened to Pupsies' Misery, which could be the worst song I've heard this year, impressively bad.

Quite a fan of this on first listen and immediately went back for a second. Love the strings and the way pacing is used for dramatic effect. Refreshing to see a new pop song in the top 40, for me it fills a gap while Sabrina and Chappell are currently absent. I always thought Till Forever Falls Apart would be one of those songs that would take off eventually, but it didn't really (although has half a billion streams on Spotify so maybe the definition of 'taking off' is different now).

Joss Stone but it's ok. The Loving Kind is gorgeous and nothing like GA's weakest single. The album version is particularly beautiful.

Oh I was. I’ve got a couple from the South Africa DVD series too, which ended up being very extensive with about 35 or more music videos on some editions.

£19.99 for the 5 record Eurovision LP is the deal of the year. The Extra vinyl 1985-1989 set has halved in price very quickly, it's the only one I'm massively bothered about in that sale that I don't already have, but at the same time don't have £49.99 for it right now. I'm going to have to get Yearbook 1971 at the weekend as Amazon couldn't deliver it today.

Michael Patrick Kelly on the new single From 90s cult band of all things kitsch The Kelly Family, but now quite a respected solo star in Germany.

Not overly enamoured by this one. She performed it live at the London concert and I thought it was nice, with great vocals, but melodically and thematically too similar to Rise Up for me to get too excited by.

Trance classic Gouryella by Gouryella. In fact, it's the only word in the whole song.

It could be worse, the big memorable song of my prom in 2003 was Ignition Remix, which was No.1 at the time. And Say Goodbye by S Club was No.2 and right there thematically (we were literally saying goodbye to school for good that evening) but all of my 'cool' peers were well past S Club by that point. -- I like PJ and Duncan but agree with Jim, as a 1994 song, not 2013. Without the context of why it reappeared it looks ridiculous in the list, but on the other hand Ant & Dec have been such a cultural force for so long that it feels right they finally got a No.1 single to their name at some point, it's just a shame it didn't happen in the 90s or with We're On The Ball. Talk Dirty is not for me, in fact I can't think of a Jason Derulo song I have enjoyed post 2010. Maybe Breathing, which ended up being a flop by his standards anyway, oops.

I loved Blurred Lines at the time. It's a little marred these days but still is a bit of a groove, it just reminds me that Pharrell was everywhere in a 12 month period, on three gigantic hits. I feel like a lot of these biggest seller of the year type songs are very of their time. Obviously this was especially the case in the 00s with charity and reality stuff, but even in the 2010s, you never really hear Love The Way You Lie or Blurred Lines too much these days compared to other songs from their years. Not a fan of the 1D song so can support that being this low. They had some strong singles but this wasn't one of them, I'd even forgotten it was a mash-up with Teenage Kicks as I never really want to listen to it all the way through.

Such sad news, the queen of country, a true legend, and seemed like a thoroughly decent and very fun person. RIP.

Now have confirmed the vinyl of Yearbook '71 is delayed to 2nd October but the CD is coming out still this Friday. It doesn't affect me as I don't buy the vinyl editions of the 70s releases. It will be interesting to see how the chart position is affected as I'm not sure what the CD/vinyl breakdown is. It needs just over 3.5k to get to No.1.

Of the remixes, I really love Can't Speak French (Tony Lamezma's Radio Edit), it sounds like a mash-up with Tomcraft's Loneliness, and now I'm wishing an official mash-up existed. I had heard the Sexy! No No No... (Development Track) before because it was on the bonus disc in their singles box set which I still have (and is apparently worth over £100 now).

Very alt bloc. Liking the darkwave influence on this! Although can see how it maybe didn't fit the album.

Voted as I'm not free tonight to join the listenthrough unfortunately. This was such a good edition, my favourite yet. I loved 12 songs and sad not to be able to give anything to two of them. From the list of names in the mix, the top five that I voted for is the complete opposite of what I would have expected, so many pleasant surprises in here.
