  1. Great choice Herbs! Regina was on my shortlist but I wouldn't have been able to choose between On The Radio and Better. Fidelity already did well in BJSC a long time ago, and Samson also has over 100m streams. Those four songs were basically the soundtrack to my spring term of second year of uni.
  2. Wine Red was a bit of a throwback. I haven't thought about it in 20 years but my sister definitely used to listen to that in her emo days. Going to assume it was a Fueled By Ramen release.
  3. Baddelta I think I rather exhausted my Delta quota in the Pop Factor. But always happy to see her anywhere, and I do love Flawed!
  4. That's a great No.1, brilliant 90s dance song indeed. It's a shame so few of the 90s dance classics actually made it all the way to the top. I've never been quite as enthused by The Real Thing but it's nice that such an unlikely artist got to No.1 (and that this happened quite fairly regularly in the 90s). Going with this as my rank: Whigfield - Saturday Night East 17 - Stay Another Day Baby D - Let Me Be Your Fantasy Take That - Everything Changes Wet Wet Wet - Love is All Around Doop - Doop Prince - The Most Beautiful Girl In the World Tony Di Bart - The Real Thing Pato Banton & Reggae Revolution - Baby Come Back D:Ream - Things Can Only Get Better Mariah Carey - Without You Chaka Demus & Pliers, Jack Radics - Twist And Shout Stiltskin - Inside Take That - Sure Manchester United Football Squad - Come On You Reds It's only the top three I really love though, the record buying public got it wrong this year! The No.2s list deserved everything the No.1s list got. Thanks for doing this @DaTilt - a fun countdown with great reviews, and lots of remix suggestions for me to check!
  5. Nothing too surprising in terms of who sent what here. Infernal makes sense for Addy. Loved that All Saints album, what a complete robbery of a chart peak it had.
  6. I still listen to Jugarem a estimar-nos all the time, great pop imo, with a lovely bridge and middle eight melody. Anonymous were pretty robbed - not my cup of tea but clearly popular and nearly made it out of that ludicrous semi.
  7. gooddelta posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Dua Lipa - Dua Lipa - Live from Mexico How is this here, I thought the physicals were out on Friday? I can't imagine it is doing this well on streaming, maybe physical copies have been sent out early. Freya's album is beautiful, that definitely deserves better, much better than the second album.
  8. I really thought the Basement Jaxx song was a hit, can't believe it missed the top 40. Maybe there's a chance for it to have a Go style second wind in the future. I would also peg that as a potential winner, as seems to cover all voter bases. I would love to see my 18 do well, I'm just gutted I didn't hear it back in 2006 as feels like it would have been one of my songs of the year if I had. It shall be one of my songs of 2026 instead.
  9. Love Forget You, a great track delivered with such an effortless and fun performance by CeeLo and he gets into character so well especially on the middle eight: "Uh, why? Uh, why? Uh, why, lady?". I heard a Bossa Nova cover of it in a restaurant a few weeks back which had a lady very sweetly singing the F*ck You version in a beach bar breezy style, which the restaurant must have not noticed and removed from the playlist. It was extremely jarring to hear lyrics like this song has sung in such a nonchalant kind of way. It only works with passion.
  10. Supermode again.
  11. Nasty Girl again.
  12. I think someone else should maybe run Worldvision first in June as it makes sense to tie in with the World Cup, and do something in the main contest break. I’ll do BJSC Live as a separate thing in late summer once we’ve worked out a way to do a very quick scoreboard.
  13. Suus was never one I enjoyed on a personal level but I do admire it, the vocal and the performance. Zjerm is epic in every way and I have no idea what those juries were doing with it. I believe many individual jurors actually ranked it last (why would you, how was it the worst song objectively last year?) which dragged it down a lot. I have a soft spot for Identitet as I said before, nice to see it top five, it's very melodic I think with good production and vocals.
  14. Just ignore the second list haha, but happy with the winner contenders list 🤩
  15. As an aside, can anyone with a more eagle eye than me please link me to the BJSC 9 final results thread? I tried to find it yesterday and couldn't locate it. One of the songs has popped up in Bop Idol and I was intrigued to see if I voted for it at the time.
  16. Human adults have been born since this happened tbf.
  17. Thanks for hosting DaTilt, the space theme was a lot of fun, and very efficient and tense results presentation!
  18. Oooh amazing, well done Addy! That's the first time in many years a song that had been on my potentials has won - admittedly very low down, and on there a very long time, so it's not like I was about to send it. I'm always glad to see a retro winner and that's such a brilliant song that should have been a UK hit! So bizarre that it wasn't. Congrats Rob on almost living up to the odds, that's harsh to lose by two points! But Hendinia will for sure be back with a win soon. Delighted to see The Spodic Empire and Sovarasma top five, two amazing entries <3 Good results all round, very alt leaning this time. Also, Aeroche not ending bottom ten is a result <3 I got super unlucky in the semi there. I had 11 voters, to 7 for the 20th place, but an outlier 12 for that took it through. So then you ask if one outlier 12 is worth more than four extra voters finding a space for something in their votes. It would be nice in future if an exception could be made to take both songs through in the rare event 20th is tied (and it is rare), when one metric to me doesn't feel more important than another in determining how much an entry was enjoyed, and how it might perform in the final (in this case, would an entry with four fewer voters likely perform better?). Personally I think Benefits would have made the top 30 with the vocal support it seemed to have from the other semi. Not that we'll ever know. Sure, 12s are important, but so is quantity of voters imo. Choosing to leave either out feels unfair imo. And nothing personal to Cheiron as they made it in fair and square and deserved to be in the final - as did I.

ChrIseland 1 Former Rontvian entrant Public Service Broadcasting now repping The Spodic Empire take our gold this month, perhaps unsurprisingly, with the brilliant Go, with our other former entrant Zanmatony’s Way Out West taking eight points! Scotland 2 get our silver medal for some engaging storytelling while a song we considered ourselves for many years from Bøtanikkä is our bronze medallist, as they edge closer to our all-time top ten. Speaking of the top ten, nine points this month for Altyr Muunilinst move them to under 40 points behind leaders République d'Áskorza, while the ever reliable Aeroche (sending another of our old faves), Hendinia, Cor Lupus and Summericia also score once more! After opening their account last month, Ennea immediately score Rontvian points for the second month running!
  20. I'm gobsmacked it's not doing better, it's a similar genre and quality to some recent pop winners. Like I said, I don't understand how the pop bloc votes! :D
  21. It's been on my potentials for some contest or another (probably not BJSC) for about 15 years oops! Delighted it's doing well here. I feel like Mike Oldfield is just one of those acts that spans generations and tastes.
  22. They're not in a bloc! They've had alt winners before.
  23. I'm following along quietly on the sidelines. I liked most of the contenders so the top half does look strong. Glad Aeroche are doing better currently than where the odds had them. Herbilore last though? This is where I don't understand the pop bloc and the way they vote.
  24. A slightly odd time in the charts. Half of the industry were wheeling out the usual 3rd/4th singles from albums dirges/ballads/strained numbers (hardly the best from Travis, Blur, Stereophonics, although I do like that Texas song When We Are Together, it's very uplifting and Sharleen is such an electric frontwoman). Whitney's I Learned From The Best deserved better though, that is a power ballad, great vocal and key change. And then lots of other people were partying and/or singing about the millennium - Will Smith, the appalling Cliff record (probably my least favourite song of all time), and a load of novelty hits scraping the charts around this time. And there were some major underperformances, as seen by those Christmas no.1 contenders, many of which came nowhere near and were wildly overhyped. She's The One is a nice song by Robbie, albeit a note for note cover of the World Party version, but he gave a very sincere performnace. I'm not as fond of Manics ripoff It's Only Us and doubt that would have been a No.1 if not part of a double a-side. And I like the A1 single, Everytime is a lovely ballad; in Norway where Christian is from it was a much bigger hit and is regarded very highly as a bit of a pop classic. I've never been overly fond of King Of My Castle personally, I much preferred a dance song creeping in lower down around this time from Madison Avenue, which did rather better the following year. I remember hearing that for the first time the week it charted in the low top 40 and thinking 'this is awesome, why is it this low'.
