  1. Dunno its sales but it stuck around for a while. His singles were all great, Strange Relationship, Crush, I Miss You, etc. Incredible and catchy pop songs. 2002 seems like yesterday but its all changed so much :o

Crush was great, as was Strange Relationship...Insatiable is a song that I thought would go on to become a classic, but it's been forgotten by a lot of people now...

I still hear Truly Madly Deeply at least 2 or 3 times a week though, and I Knew I Loved You/To The Moon & Back/Affirmation quite regularly too

  2. I think something more drastic needs to happen for them to realise this, perhaps more flops. The Ting Tings will probably make them believe its still as popular as ever though so it'll be tough.

8 Years ago the playlist was filled with dance, 5 years ago R&B. But those genres actually had 6-8 songs in the top10 every week so it was justified. However, dance never dominated the playlist as much as indie the past 3 years, and its ironic since indie even during these last years never achieved the same popularity dance did back in the day.

    I agree on all points

Ting Tings, The Feeling, Scouting For Girls and Hoosiers, are skewing their perspective

they are pop bands but Radio 1 probably perceive them as indie and are therefore assuming that indie is still a huge success...

actual proper indie hasn't had a big hit in years and years...it's the same as the Britpop slump of 1997/1998, yet they wouldn't be seen dead putting all this copycat fake Britpop on the playlist in 1999/2000 so why are they putting all this awful noughties Brit indie on the playlist when it clearly peaked in 2004-2006 :(

  3. It was Utopia, but they've now voted. So that is essentially that semi final finished because Rivandia aren't voting.

I can reveal that the song in 13th received one more point than the song in 14th. Ouch.

    oh no :( 1 point more...if I'm 14th I'll cry

still, the songs that don't qualify probably wouldn't have done anything in the final either, so rather than the humiliation of finishing last in the final, perhaps it's better to go out now :o

then again, some songs would have done better with the voters from the other semi, so it's luck of the draw really...

  4. Radio 1 are stupid...the tastes HAVE changed...nobody buys indie anymore, when will they realise this  why won't they get all this turd off the playlist

it wouldn't hurt them to put Disco Lights on the playlist would it! Darren's heading for a top ten album for christ sake

  5. it's unfair really how badly his solo career has done, he doesn't deserve it...I don't recall any of his solo singles in 2002/2003 other than Insatiable getting much airplay though...

he has quite a large fanbase but can't seem to crossover to the casual music buyer no matter how good his songs are

  6. I see that the two of the three that I expect to vote are/were browsing this topic too. To be honest I didn't have to do that much rounding up, there were only a few people that might not have voted without the PM.

I think these last two votes can change a lot in their respective semi finals.

which voter left is in my semi, perhaps I can persuade them to tactically vote for my song :kink: :heehee:

  7. Darren Hayes most recent flop was a better hit than Popular IMO! On The Verge of Something Wonderful was a great track and 'Popular' in my opinion was just Average -_-

:o the chorus of Popular was so catchy but it was the video that was amazing...the funniest video of this decade, I love it

having said that, I agree with you with On The Verge Of Something...that really should have gone top ten too...incredible track

  8. Aw thanks loads! But I'm really not that confident, it has had some great odds and some not so great, maybe it's one of those songs which you either love or just don't get?

Anyways here's hoping FSR Rontvia make it into the final, definately a challenger for the win... AGAIN!

fingers crossed! I hope people liked Mine All Mine as much as I did

  9. Eledið suggest those odds for being Gooddelta's dark-horse:

    4/1 Sangria

    4/1 Bokia

    5/1 Herzebania

    6/1 U.S. of Jack

    9/1 Kylienips

    21/2 Utopia

    11/1 Frahliso

    14/1 Jester's Kingdom

    :kink:

 we'll see if you're right...I am yet to listen to some of those, seeing as I wasn't in semi-final 1! there's so much pressure on me now to pick the winner :P

  10. I'm properly nervous about this - I know it's just a game but flipping heck is it exciting

you're song is one of the favourites to get through! if I'd have been in semi final 1 it would have got major pointage from me...

  11. I think that the Bonnie Tyler one is the best but you'd find it very hard to get votes from those who object to well-known songs being entered.

The Jennifer Saunders one would be good, please please don't enter Frou Frou's one!!!

I don't object to an old 80's song being entered...when I say I don't vote for well known songs, I mean songs that have been huge selling hits from the previous 5 years
