    Info/Reason I love it: A dance song leads the pack and is by a country mile my best song of all time. A homegrown talent from Rochdale, producers Dale Longworth and Kevin O Toole formed happy hardcore/rave band N-Trance in the early 90's...teaming up with UK diva Kelly Llorenna for this classic, it was released a couple of times before finally becoming a hit reaching No.2 in the UK and selling over 600,000 copies. The 90's version is a true classic and quite legendary with the piano melody and bridging riffs being copied by many, in particualr E'Voke, whose Runaway was practically identical...however a true classic's story is never over...in 2001 DJ Rob Searle got hold of the track and literally made the best song ever even better...by far the best remix I've ever heard, Rob Searle tranced the track up and the re-released single stormed in at No.4 in late 2001...one of the few tracks in a club to make the top 5 twice. In my chart the song had an amazing chart run, spending 26 weeks in the top 5 including 8 weeks at No.1, 7 weeks at No.2 and 8 weeks at No.3...The two versions on heavy rotation kept this song alive for me and it still sounds fresh to me today...nothing can beat this in my eyes :wub:

    Info: Back to Alice Deejay for the 2nd best song of all time and their debut hit Better Off Alone a collaboration with DJ Jurgen. The song peaked at No.2 in the UK for 3 weeks and sold over 600,000 copies...in total the band sold well over 1 million singles in their short career in the UK...A classic dance song, it emphasised more on a bleeping yet tuneful melody with Judy adding a few vocals...it has been bootlegged to hell in the last 5 years with everything from Rozalla to Dr Dre...

     

    Reason I love it: The reason is that I fell in love with it from day one...I first heard it in the car in summer 1999 travelling to Great Yarmouth...next thing I heard it was No.4 with very little promotion...it eventually became massive and deservedly so...a fantastic drum beat introduction leads to an electronic track with vocals not kicking in for a while...one of the more memorable dance songs its almost the best song ever made...

    Info: Quite spectacular to see an album track in the 3 best songs ever, whats more incredible is that most Delta fans don't see the fuss about this song...however to me its brilliant!!! Probably her most truthful song it talks about July 8th 2003 when Delta discovered that she had cancer...by far her most personal song its my best Delta track by a mile...

     

    Reason I love it: 9 weeks at No.1 suggest how much I think of this song...its an incredible song with a haunting melody to accompany the serious subject...the verses and chorus are perfect and the climax and outro are spectacular...a deserved placing in my top 3 best songs ever!!!

    Info: All credit to Dutch female singer Do (Dominique van Hulst)...this is so often just credited as DJ Sammy and for a while everybody thought that she was DJ Sammy...Let's not forget German producer Yanou as well who is also the man behind Cascada...Anyway, this tranced up cover of Bryan Adams minor hit Heaven stormed in at No.1 beating Madonna and Craig David to the summit and becoming a modern classic...

     

    Reason I love it: Do is a brilliant singer and her soft voice is amazing on this song, it is showed off even more on the now famous series of 'Yanou's candlelight mix' which is a regular on late night love shows on the radio...I picked up on this song in summer 2002 and knew it would be huge...one of the best produced 80's covers ever, it spent a record 12 weeks as my chart leader!!!

    Info: Surely destined to finish 2006 as my best song of the year its still my No.1 now...Don't Bother was classed as Shakira's long awaited comeback but compared to this Latin carnival classic it looks like a damp squib...A truly unique song which can appeal to almost anyone it relaunched both Shakira and Wyclef's careers and has so far spent 4 months in the UK top 10 with 5 weeks in total at No.1!!!

     

    Reason I love it: I first heard this monster back in february this year and I fell in love with it straight away and something told me it would be huge...I've always loved Shakira and her brilliantly unique voice and style and this song has it all...a great melody, a decent rap (for once), a fusion of Spanish and English singing...I never get bored of the track...Sublime!!!

    Info: The follow up to the mega hit Better off alone, Back in my life was a dance hit in a different style...a darker song with a very dark video where Judy is at a funeral the song itself was a top quality dance track and it followed Better off alone with another eccentric chart run which saw it return to the top 10 after dropping out having peaked at No.4 to feature in the last and first top 10's at the turn of the millennium!!!

     

    Reason I love it: I remember staying up all night to hear the exclusive first play of this on the radio and I was not disappointed. More vocals than Better off alone it emphasised Judy's vocals to a greater extent. Another catchy and melodic classic from the Dutch group it spent in total an amazing 11 weeks at No.1 in my chart!!!

    Info: In a year where Delta ruled my chart, Innocent Eyes was her finest moment of the period...A dramatic piano ballad like a teen Tori Amos, Innocent Eyes, the title track of her debut album hinted at her musical future and was quite spectacular...it reached No.9 in the UK as her third top 10 hit from an album that sold over 800,000 copies!!!

     

    Reason I love it: Its a more thoughtful song than many of her others with excellent lyrics though its the melody and the sublime piano playing that really stand out and make this song a classic...the da da da da da da part is simple genius and it led her to 17 weeks in my top 5 in summer 2003!!!

    Info: Released on 3 occasions too early to make my chart, the song missed the UK top 40 twice and then debuted at No.2 after Tin Tin Out remixed a dated sounding song into shape...released on the same week as Britney Soears' Baby one more time it never stood a chance to get to No.1 but has become a radio classic in its own right!!!

     

    Reason I love it: I loved the original and the Tin Tin Out remix just gave it an added bit of oomph...a classic ballad that doesn't really need describing, this is The Corrs finest moment and Andrea's vocals flow perfectly with Caroline's Drums and Jim's Guitar while the highlight of the song is Sharon's violin key change towards the end...perfection!!!

    Reason I love it: I love Rank 1's Airwave, which this song is based on and therfore a version with vocals I was bound to love...to add to that Kelly Llorenna is my favourite UK singer of all time, making this song incredible to me...so catchy and euphoric it spent its first 10 chart weeks at the very top!!!

    Info: Starting with a little known gospel song that I got hold of in 2001 via the website Peoplesound...Never released officially, the singer, UK female artist Caroldene Black once made the radio one playlist guesting on a garage track which I forget the name of...She also reached my top 10 with Dream on (No.5) and Hold Me Tight (No.6)

     

    Reason I love it: It caught me off guard as a cracking pop/gospel crossover that stood out from everything else I liked at the time...the lyrics are very true to life and Caroldene's singing is faultless throughout...A great gospel ballad and one of the ten best songs ever!!!

Will enter at No.2 behind Oasis and infront of All Saints...I will download All Out Of Love as it has Delta in it but I'll leave the rest of the album alone...having said that, the only good choice of cover is All Or Nothing, which most people thought was Westlife when it came out anyway...I can imagine Mark doing a good job with that one...

    Info: The debut single from Scottish singer KT Tunstall, I heard this song back in January 2005 and I knew I had to have the album...of course it was around the low 60's in the chart at that time and seemingly never destined to go higher...the album sold 1.5 million and this is one her two signature songs!!!

     

    Reason I love it: It weaves its way into your head slowly, with KT's Scottish tones creeping up on you until you love her. It has an amazing chorus, sublime verses and with a singer as good as this, it was always going to be high on this chart...brilliant!!!

    Info: The famous Shakira ballad which was up until this year the second of her two UK megahits, the song reached No.3 in the UK and stormed in at No.1 on its debut in my chart and clocked up 15 weeks on the top 5 in total!!!

     

    Reason I love it: From the gentle acoustic introduction through to the amazing vocals of Shakira who showed her musical diversity when she went from Whenever, Wherever through to a much slower song, though with no less quirky lyrics. A gorgeous song in every way!!!

    Info: The second appearance from British singer but European star Kim Lukas, this anthemic song was a hit all over Europe after being remixed into shape by Eiffel 65 and the naff video which showed her putting a robot she loved back together only made it a more cheesy affair...

     

    Reason I love it: One of the catchiest pop dance songs you will ever hear, I first heard it on the radio in Tenerife and I knew I had to have it...I got it in my first ever purchase from eBay over 5 years ago and the song spent 12 weeks in my top 5 alone!!!

    Info: The song that got me into dance music, 9PM was a fantastic elctronic dance track with very few vocals but one of the most memorable melodies of all time. It got to No.1 in the UK for a fortnight and spawned two follow up top 5 hits!!! A true classic...

     

    Reason I love it: Its one of those tracks thats an instant classic. From the moment I heard it on the listening post in Virgin I was hooked and bought it on single literally 2 minutes later. An incredible electronic track with unique bending sounds which became ATB's early trademark it is a true gem!!!

    Info: A second appearance in three songs for the massive Canadian singer/songwriter, Sarah took her 2004 album Afterglow to No.2 in America...A striking album, it featured 10 beautiful ballads all with deep lyrics and excellent melodies...this second single is the standout track!!!

     

    Reason I love it: From the piano introduction to the lyrics which are emphasised by a low budget ($15) video-you have to see it to understand it. The chorus is catchy and the melody is sublime while Sarah's vocals are perfect as usual. In total it managed six weeks at No.1 on my chart in 2004!!!

    Info: An incredible UK house tune from 2004 it had something that other dance songs lacked at the time...it was original, used new vocals on an old (and extremely well chosen) sample and to top it off, it got to No.1 in the UK and became a classic for years to come!!!

     

    Reason I love it: It an almost perfect song and the highest house track in this chart. Its so soulful and Cookie's strong vocals are amazing yet at the same time it is a brilliant club track with an unforgettable melody...it stayed at No.1 in my chart for 5 weeks in summer 2004!!!

    Shakira will be aiming for an 11th week in control with Hips don't lie but she's facing stiff competition this week. Infernal and Girls Aloud, last weeks runners up are in the running along with Evanescence, Lily Allen and a couple of songs from The Pipettes...

     

    'The concert effect' could push The Pipettes album back to No.1 while The Hot Puppies are also likely to move up from their debut position of No.5 in the album chart but can Shakira stay at the top for an 8th week in total?
