  1. I think this week's heat is my favourite so far in that I like all six songs to some extent. Revolution is not really that, but I like Måns and his music, I have always loved Heroes, and as generic as this track is, I know I'll have it on repeat. I don't think it's a Eurovision winner as I couldn't see it getting a particularly huge televote at Eurovision, but no doubt it will ease to victory here. And I do think it's a well produced, instant Scandipop song with an anthemic sound. KAJ's song I really like, very infectious and super catchy, I hope this goes to the final! It's the big party track the final is currently missing. Vicious is way better than I expected from Andreas - I love Alcazar but don't often go for his solo stuff, but this is very Dua Lipa, some really slick and sharp production with a great chorus. Tennessee Tears have brought a really quite strong country song, I wouldn't rule this out going to the final, or at least going to the second chance round. I like AmenA and Ella's tracks too - although they sound way less competitive than the other four, but are fine for my playlist. Predictions: DTF: Måns, KAJ Second chance: Tennessee Tears Out: Andreas (I think Måns probably eats up the male pop vote sadly, and the older audiences might be more likely to go for him or Tennessee Tears), AmenA, Ella

Presumably Abs is rejoning them then? I saw them as a trio a few years back and they were fine, the lack of a natural rapper hurts them a bit.
  3. ^ March 28th it is. This is wayyy more interesting than I expected, with some interesting picks and lots of remixes I don't have anywhere, so for sure I'll buy it. Weird crediting for Love Inc and Alice Deejay these days, but I guess those are new label stipulations. Liz McClarnon getting her spot on a Now spinoff *.* Euphoria remix *.* Double Kelly Llorenna *.* I like the way it's a good mix of classic Eurodance and Clubland stuff, and not just the main album stuff but a bit of the hardcore stuff too. Good job Now!

We'll consider that, although may need to call on a 60s expert. We have a dance release coming next!
  5. Btw, Niceland's song on the Spotify playlist is a different song called Misodzi to the one linked in the opening thread. Think it's this one: https://open.spotify.com/track/6C5Cjad1lSb1...260058dd2ec406c
  6. Rontvian votes are IN! It's a mixed semi for me but the second half was strong, there are some great dance and foreign language entries this time.
  7. <3 Love that line too. It's such a quotable song.
  8. Really looking forward to this, the live version was so good.
  9. I guess it will be an unmixed album, hopefully some interesting track choices on there. It makes me a bit sad in some ways that the compilation market is so dead that every themed release (Clubland/Disney/Eurovision) has to be released under Now branding and can't just be pushed in its own right. I wish the Clubland numbered series was still a thing, although it did lose its way quite a bit by the later volumes and became just another commercial dance hits and remixes of pop songs album really. The volumes from 2002-2006 were pretty much all fantastic, I made so many great discoveries on them.
  10. Scouse storytelling for 172 After bouncing back from a DNQ with... last place in the final in January, FSR Rontvia have a renewed sense of purpose and are proud to present Loss Is Not Infinite from London/Liverpool hip-hop duo God Colony, previously sent by Skall back in 2018, and spoken word performer Roy, aka PJ Smith, a former substance abuser turned artist, campaigner and mentor. On this classically Rontvian entry, kind of a Sunscreen for Merseyside, Liverpudlian Roy asks a number of life's big questions. The track was released in aid of Damien John Kelly House, a live-in centre in Liverpool for men recovering from addiction and has been played by BBC Radio 6 Music. Roy described the song as follows: "It’s about the state of non-existence. That bit in the middle of shaking off an old identity but not yet having formed a new, better one. It’s terrifying but it’s only temporary. It’s a hopeful song, telling you that you won’t feel lost forever if you just keep doing the right thing. Basically, if you don’t make your new life better than your old one, you’ll always go back to your old one. The paradox is that the more shortcuts you try to take, the longer the feeling of loss lasts. There are no shortcuts." Ricardo Delta explained the entry choice: "Loss Is Not Infinite is just wonderful, a crushing window into parts of today's society in England, backed by smooth sax and an earworm (but short) chorus. There are too many brilliantly quotable and thought-provoking lyrics to list. And the rundown Mr Blobby impersonator in the music video just adds to the gritty charm." Roy quipped: "Blobby is the perfect symbol, really. He had it all thirty years ago. Prime time telly. A Christmas number one. Household name. Then what? Disappeared. Erased from history. That’s the real conspiracy. We found him. He’s back, off the gear, with a gastric band fitted, a hair transplant and a set of new gnashers. He’s trying to find out who he really is. He’s lost…but Loss Is Not Infinite. It could go either way for him." Loss Is Not Infinite entered the Rontvian charts before Christmas, peaking at No.1, and is still a top ten fixture in late February. 31-8gg9bN24
  11. I think this could be the big moment for Bronzil, I'll be surprised if this isn't top ten - hopefully a lot higher and contending for the win. A banger.
  12. Now Presents... I do wonder if somebody there has noticed Buzzjack Presents  I'll buy this as I love Clubland and all of the artists related to it (where else will Kelly Llorenna be on the cover), but shame if there is no vinyl as I'd love to have some of these classics on vinyl. Amazon free delivery day means nothing useful, they have got so crap recently with delivery. Now Vault 1980 is currently showing with a delivery day of Thurs 6th March for me, for example.
  13. Ronan. I actually enjoy the Boyzone version but no at doing another re-heat of it.
  14. Happy to go to Missy too now, I really do like all of the other five quite a bit.
  15. Pink for me too this time.
  16. Drop Dead Gorgeous and Lovefool are classics, love them both so much. Had no idea how close the latter was to No.1 when it re-entered. Bodyshakin' is an interesting track in that it was a b-side the previous year before making the leap to full single - somebody saw the big potential, certainly one of their better singles. They performed live at my primary school in early '98, just a few months before I left - kudos to them for doing that as they had several top fives under their belt at this point, and seeing them sing songs like this live in our school hall was quite something. I do find Robbie's early material interesting, he did have Strong too which sounded a bit Britpop but clearly was pushed more in the popstar direction after Angels. Shame we didn't get to see Halo on the repeats, fantastic track and proved that the Texas comeback wasn't a one-off for sure.
  17. Gosh Jessica Winter hoping to go one better than my bridesmaid. Mine is a reject of a Skall DNQ act from a few years ago (in honour of their joint win last month), but very much hoping not to repeat that fate, let's see. I know and like the Lauren Mayberry track and the Eurovision rejects.
  18. Meanwhile, Robbie's Millennium is the album version, as there's an extra verse I'm not as familiar with. I've gone through all of Disc 1, which is great (maybe aside from Gloria Estefan, which while a nice song doesn't feel as essential as the rest of the disc and maybe could have been on the Extra - I know Ricky peaked lower but that was a huge global hit). But really, banger after banger. Catatonia feels like it should have been on Disc 2, not quite sure it fits between Fat Les and Culture Club when I flicked through? This album has made me realise what a strong year Sweden had - Ace of Base, Emilia, Eagle-Eye Cherry, Robyn, Meja, The Cardigans...and those are just the ones that made the cut.
  19. The Brunori Sas song is pretty much my favourite Italian ballad in years. Love it, I wonder what the chance of the top two both declining Eurovision are. Slim I guess.
  20. Another entry I couldn't care less about, why on earth have they picked a leftover G:son song  Prayer sounds so good too!
  21. I think that’s another 2-5 kind of result on lock for Italy, another strong entry. Christicchi really dropped off after the early hype, thankfully. Shame for Giorgia really, what an incredible performance she gave. Italy love their male singers though, looking at the top five.
  22. Not massively keen on this, it might get swamped by more dynamic songs and performances in the semi, but if it makes the final then it should do pretty well with the juries and come midtable. But probably the first Norway entry I won't have on repeat since That's How You Write A Song (I even loved Subwoolfer at the time!) Tone Damli was robbed by the juries! But at least came top five thanks to the public. Wow at the Bobbysocks public vote - a lot of goodwill for them still!
  23. Oops at Malou, can't say it was that surprising, felt like the track was bigger than her. Not at all surprised at the finalists, Greczula brought something fresh and is a very charismatic performer, Annika's is one of those kind of anthemic songs they love in Sweden. Good for Dolly Style to get a second chance. I actually thought Angelino's song and performance was pretty good and deserved better. Nice to see Lex's last BJSC entry get a live performance, and the great Sanna Nielsen medley <3
  24. U2 again. Gossip Folks is not one I would miss either though.
