  1. Rontviair Flight 175 to Bøtanikkä has departed.
  2. October 98! Shortly after I started at secondary school. And literally only because I was obsessed with Believe by Cher and didn’t have the means to play music at the time any way other than radio. So I was trying to find a foolproof way to catch it on the radio and it occurred to me that it would be in the charts - from then on I grew to love and know many other songs and found the whole process of the ranking fascinating.
  3. Both great, but I love Up, such a great second single. It could have gone either way for them after a semi successful debut hit if they hadn't got the second right, but they very much did <3
  4. Double X for me. Great production.
  5. Razorlight...
  6. Stereophonics.
  7. I was hoping to see This One by Paul McCartney rather than My Brave Face. Quite surprised at the lack of Jive Bunny as the re-records have been used on other Now compilations. I can only assume the likes of Lambada, I Don't Want A Lover and Don't Know Much are licensing issues, although quite surprised that Texas is. Overall it looks like a pretty decent Extra though.
  8. Congratulations Addy! An enjoyable winner! I’m happy with 12th and over 100 points, thanks to all the voters, lovely to see it get some high marks including a top score from Rollo. Thanks for hosting Cody.
  9. Ha, I’m nothing if not predictable. It kind of reminded me of an Aqualung and Self Esteem cross, somehow.
  10. Oh and I Feel You by Peter Andre. I honestly couldn’t even sing the chorus.
  11. I really love Twilight by Cover Drive, I've Never Been To Me by Charlene, and especially Green Light by Roll Deep, one of my top five songs of 2010 😭 Wonderful by Ja Rule was definitely the first that came to my mind, and I also agree with Dirtee Disco by Dizzee Rascal. The former has 125m streams though, twice the number of e.g. Nelly's My Place from the same year which even at the time didn't feel big enough to me to be a No.1. I know reality TV songs are an easy target but I can't remember a single thing about the cover of Wishing On A Star by 'X Factor Finalists 2011' featuring OneDirection and JLS to help shift the track.
  12. Madcon. I usually love Måneskin but Damiano's voice is a bit unpleasant sounding for me on parts of their version.
  13. Beverley Knight, although it's not too different to the Robyn original. But it's a bouncy cover and released in the Robyn wilderness years (in the UK) so it wasn't exactly an uninspired choice.
  14. Razorlight again.
  15. Satisfy you, and it’s much worse than Cliff, deserved this landslide in round one.
  16. Michael Gray
  17. ‘Everybody needs good neighbours’ theme
  18. Sure I can host next time, will have a think about a theme.
  19. Oh wow. A birthday win, I didn’t expect that and all the top marks - so cool! Thanks Jim for the final 12 there too! Loved Jim’s entry so was a great runner up. Glad to see Polly make the top ten there too. Thanks for hosting a great theme Jade, I made quite a lot of lovely discoveries here. I’ve not typically done too well in this contest but this did strike me as a suitable choice for the theme! Glad it worked out. <3
  20. Nice! I will get thinking - sure I can rustle up some house.
  21. Oh I really appreciate Julian’s guest vote giving me a 12! Thank you.
  22. A 12 swap with Herbs!! Amazing entry, I love it. I had heard some of her other stuff but never checked the album in full.
  23. Funnily enough I always shied away from sending it to BJSC because the talking part is quite weird with the rest of the track. But there’s no version without it and the rest of it is so lovely, the chords remind me of All The Lovers. It was No.13? I think in my 2022 end of year chart but it’s an older track than that. I heard it on an advert that year, for Versace, and found it striking: Nice to see it doing well so far! Many thanks to the voters!
  24. Not that I'm going to try and defend 175 on Day 3, but it really feels a bit soon for Ed's second official single to me, Azizam is a month old and a lot of people are still getting into that, such is the way of the slow charts. If the album isn't out until September, I don't get why official single No.2 is out in May. Either way, the song doesn't sound like a hit to me (whereas Azizam did, and has been) and I said as much on first listen on Friday. It's not a very easy singalong/radio type song as it's so personal to Ed. I'm surprised he's made it a single, it would have made sense as a grat to me like Visting Hours or How Would You Feel. But I guess it's just something he was keen for more people to hear.
