  1. 01 Delta Goodrem - Innocent Eyes (favourite) 02 Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe! 03 Kelly Clarkson - Walk Away 04 Nelly Furtado - I’m Like a Bird 05 Kesha - Praying 06 Michelle Branch - Everywhere 07 Lily Allen - URL Badman 08 Toni Braxton - You Mean the World to Me 09 Cher Lloyd - Sirens 10 FKA twigs - ride the dragon 11 ROSALÍA - MALAMENTE (Cap.1: Augurio) 12 Nadia Oh - Hot Like Wow 13 LiSA - QUEEN Predictable but Innocent Eyes is the song that turned me from a Delta fan to lifelong supporter. Good Luck, Babe! is one of the best songs of this decade, and any single from Breakaway is a winner.
  2. We've broken 20 now! Keep them coming and we can get the party started!
  3. Looks like the next Eras release will be subtitled Feels Like Heaven and will probably feature synth pop/New Wave music of the early to mid 80s. The Now mole on the Facebook forum who always leaks the album news early liked my comment suggesting it could be this in response to him posting the song Feels Like Heaven by Fiction Factory as a clue.
  4. It's certainly tricky to rank songs you've known and loved for years with songs you don't know, yet while trying to be fair to new 'discoveries'. I couldn't call how this round will go as it's a super competitive group: 01 The Corrs (favourite) 02 Ace Of Base 03 Florence + The Machine 04 Blondie 05 A1 06 The Chicks 07 Atomic Kitten 08 Scissor Sisters 09 HAIM 10 The 1975 11 ABBA 12 Erasure 13 Girlicious
  5. Blondie's was a cover too of the below, but for sure it would have been interesting to see both versions as Atomic Kitten's version was clearly based on Blondie's.
  6. Kate. Elevation is an epic, the Tomb Raider/single mix is brilliant.
  7. Up All Night doesn’t bear much resemblance to Shine for me apart from Mark Owen’s lead vocal. That was more like a grand show tune inspired by ELO whereas this sounds, frankly, more like the theme to Postman Pat (certainly the intro anyway).
  8. Eminem, sorry. The other two got to No.1 in my chart back in the day, love them!
  9. A choice I thought about for ages actually wasn’t sent here at all, quite surprised! Guess they’ll be in Season 3 then. This is a star studded lineup to say the least. Glad to see Delta, The Corrs, ABBA, Atomic Kitten, Ace of Base among numerous others.
  10. There are certainly some acts I could have picked, that’s for sure. Will be interested to see which way they’re played.
  11. Hopefully that will be doable - you've got another forum mod plus me yet to confirm which will take it to 18 and I'd hope lots of the previous contest's participants will return as the voting period won't directly clash with BJSC either! So spare some time, come and join us all at the party of the year!

Hung Up Like A Prayer La Isla Bonita Frozen Sorry Into The Groove Vogue Papa Don't Preach 4 Minutes Music True Blue Who's That Girl American Pie The top two are almost inseperable. La Isla Bonita was a week out from being No.1 the day I was born (but was No.2).

Agreed, and we have to remember that not everyone on the forum is in BJSC, so we don't want to end up gatekeeping every great new pop song from everyone else and limit forum discussion and wider new music discovery. I think it must be because of Chappell, I was thinking the same earlier when listening to the new MARIS song straight after this.

Just realised loads of their live videos are on Spotify, which means R Dancing is available to listen to It always makes me think of a parallel universe where Faye did a garage single with Shanks & Bigfoot.
  15. I am still awaiting a crunk entry but encourage anybody who knows their crunk to submit one so we can get it crunk up on and have fun up on up in this dancery.
  16. Thanks for the confirmations so far. A nice turnout already and some very fun songs in the mix.

Ditto, another one on the veto pile. Great pop - very theatrical!
  18. Oh definitely All Night Long, loved that. Broken Heels was really solid too.
  19. Not my cup of tea either, as it's oversung in all the wrong places for me, but I do like Alexandra in general and bought her debut album and enjoyed all of the singles released from it in 2009/10.
  20. Track 1 on Now 123 that is But yeah, I'm sure it will deliver. I can't believe Miracle is pretty much three years ago now. The preview of that was so exciting and the full song definitely didn't disappoint.

Maybe not quite enough for Lily is it, unless there's a push or price cut which I can't see happening. I really thought it could shift 25k this week as it's SUCH a brilliant album and deserves a week at No.1. Olivia will probably have a bit of a Grammys boost now and do 16-17k in the end.

Oh they'll be delighted with the commercial reception, almost guaranteed top five hit in Sweden in the bag and a spot in the Melodifestivalen final. Iconic. Hope that encourages them to stick around.
  23. Went for A*Teens, Agnes and Jessie Ware. With apologies to Rogue Traders who were fourth.
  24. Black Eyed Peas! But I too like some later stuff by Guy.
  25. It's time... to PARTY! Welcome to this sixth edition of Bop Idol, where this time we are here to have fun and find the best bops around. You are here with me following the success of Black Box Recorder's own bop, These Are The Things, which won the brilliant One Hit Wonders edition hosted by @Addy! in November. Past editions of Bop Idol have included some songs that are kind of hard to bop to, so for this edition we are harnessing the very spirit of the contest title. If you can't dance to it, and it doesn't make you smile, please leave it at the door! You are welcome to send pop, dance, hip-hop, crunk, or even indie disco floor fillers, but it needs to have a pulse and make us want to get on the dancefloor. We will be checking the entries to make sure they fit this theme and you will likely be asked to reconfim if you try to send a ballad or a middle of the road radio strummer. There are a few other standard rules that usually apply to Bop Idol. Namely, the song must have been released between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2019, and must not have been a UK Top 40 hit, while anything else deemed too well known could be vetoed. Try and remain inspired or the bouncers might turn you away at the door. Also, please do not send previous Bop Idol entries or songs that have been top 20 hits in another song contest on the site (there are complete lists in the various forums of songs entered to the contests but we can also check these over when we review the submissions). And as with other contests, artists and songs are first come first served. Finally, this is an anonymous contest so please don't reveal your entries as I will do that during the results. Please submit your party anthems and bops (Artist/Song/YouTube link) by 23:59 GMT on Monday 9th February via PM to me @gooddelta. The voting thread will open a day or two after that pending any vetoes and resubmissions and then results will be at some point later in the month, all TBC currently. CONFIRMED: Addy!
