Now That's What I Call Music!
Will the early Beatles recordings/masters be in the public domain come 2033 (isn't it 70 years)? Now will surely milk this big time if the albums are still a thing in the 2030s and Beatles material suddenly becomes available to them π

Now That's What I Call Music!
How so? It was recorded in 1958 and released/reached its 60s peak in 1962. I think including a 1964 hit is a good move. Anyway, I'm not that enthused by the early 60s but nonetheless a lot of recognisable classics on here. Blue Velvet featuring on a second 'Yearbook', although I don't really consider these as canon as they cover more than one year.

Agnes - BEAUTIFUL MADNESS
Agreed about Balenciaga Covered Eyes, not paid it too much attention before now but it sounded amazing. What really impressed me was the way that the crowd made the Magic Still Exists singles feel like global smashes. On balance I prefer BEAUTIFUL MADNESS as a full album but there's no beating the highs of Fingers Crossed, 24 Hours, Here Comes the Night and Love and Appreciation for me, it was so great to hear those live. It is funny to pay as much attention to your previous album as the one out this week though, classic Agnes! Maybe she hasn't rehearsed LOVESONGS as it wasn't performed in Stockholm either but to cut I Trance feels a bit crazy, I'm sure the venue has a curfew of 11pm so there was plenty of time left. I got there so late that I ended up at the back right at the top, but despite that did have quite a good view and it wasn't too cramped there! I couldn't spot anyone I recognised in the vicinity apart from a couple of people from Eurovision Twitter. I've seen Cat Burns in that venue before and do like it, there's good viewing angles from all areas unless you end up behind loads of tall people (which there were but shoulder peeking through gaps came in useful and I'm six foot myself anyway). I left thinking I wish I could be half as cool as Agnes, she is a star.

iTunes Weekly Thread w/c 23rd January 2026
Agreed. These six songs plus Never Forget are the holy grail. I liked the third episode of the documentary in particular because those years since the comeback are less documented than the 90s era. But for about five years from 2006-2011 they were absolutely untouchable and rightly so. I really miss Jason being in the band (Robbie less so but I did love the Progress era).

New physical purchases in 2026
Yes. NOW used to sell a lot of copies to children and for family parties so I suppose they felt they had to censor it or it wouldnβt sell as well. I like having the uncensored versions on Bravo (and Swedenβs Absolute Music series which wrapped up a few years ago).

Year End Battle UK vs AUS - Year 2003 - #6
These are on the same very high level for me but probably narrowly All The Things She Said.

New physical purchases in 2026
Iβve been trying to fill the remaining gaps in my Bravo Hits collection this year, so have bought about 15 early and year end volumes of that series all for about Β£3 each. Also Leona Lewisβ Echo vinyl and Mikaβs new album on CD, Now Yearbook 91 Extra and The Vault β82. I do still buy a lot of music physically. Will get Lilyβs album at the weekend now itβs finally coming out.

Agnes - BEAUTIFUL MADNESS
Iβm very lucky that Iβve seen her do Release Me live before because in 2013 I went to the Eurovision final where she performed it as an interval act. But sheβs a much more accomplished and impressive artist these days. Such a great performer. I was actually unsure I would even get there tonight as I was working late and didnβt even get there until after 9, but then she didnβt come on until 9.30 π Meanwhile I booked The Cardigans today who are coming to London in June and they have a 9pm curfew! Different needs for different Swedes.

Agnes - BEAUTIFUL MADNESS
Wellβ¦Agnes was flawless and amazing of course. But she sang like 10 songs π Release Me was so good live and so was everything from the Magic Still Exists album. Loved Ego, Trigger and Balenciaga Covered Eyes from the new album live too but some very glaring omissions for me - Wake Up, Lovesongs (which would have been a moment in that venue), Uterus and Universe, I Trance and Limelight (I believe these two were played in Stockholm the other day too). 50 minutes is short imo, but still, it was 50 minutes in the presence of perfection. And the interludes make more sense live. But sheβs still an incredible performer, one of Swedenβs best and too underrated commercially.

Holly has broken two decades of musical silence for this? I actually thought it was a parody that somebody had uploaded under her name as a joke when I first heard it. Sadly not.

I do, it's a real laugh.

How about combining some of these thoughts, and everyone is assigned a random year between 1970 and 1999 to send a song from (going further back if there are more than 30 entries), but one person receives a 'joker' (nobody knows who ofc) and they have to send a song from any year between 1940 and 1960.

I wonder if (the remaining) 62.5% is the highest percentage of an entry's points I have ever given on Buzzjack then. I'm not usually so out of step with one of my top favourites either.

Round 6 : End Of Year Survivor #135
Summer Sunshine and Up All Night are my favourites, while Flux and The Way I Am are the most credible (although I love Flux too). James doesn't get a look in in either category, so that can go.

Round 4 : End Of Year Survivor #136
Going for this as well, I listen to the other six at least semi regularly but never check this, although don't dislike it.

Ooh, a very inspired top four in the end, that's great, well done Jim and Cow too for Podium finishes! Finishing top ten here takes the sting out of a DNQ in BJSC as I have never done well in this, thanks Cow for lifting me back into the top ten at the last minute! Thanks Wardy for a fun evening of results, and a very nice theme that really got me thinking, and actually searching for an entry rather than using something from a potentials list, for once.

Well done Chez, interested to hear what the votes by receipt threw up in comparison! A very good, inspired winner. Glad it wasn't one of the very well known acts.

Nice entry, never heard anything other than Sweet Lullaby by them.

Limousine was produced by MIchael Cretu (Enigma) btw.

Helping out a lot of those floundering at the bottom! Thank you to the voters so far for Limousine, it's the first song I've ever sent to this that's a new discovery as I didn't feel particularly inspired by the existing options I knew that were on the table. This was a top 10 hit in Germany and its great, fun 80s pop to me.

Not really a hard pick here, Changes being beyond dire and Lost Without You being majestic.

Great entry, figured it would be Herbs' when I realised the lead singer wasn't relatively unknown at all but is in fact Damien Rice.

I predict Juniper for Herbs Absolutely love AH Goldβs entry.
