iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 13th April 2014
Tove Lo sounds exactly like Alunageorge. To the point where I heard stay high on the radio and thought it was AG and wondered why I hadn't heard of this. Is there some connection there? Has anyone pointed this out because I can't find a discussion on it. Fantastic song though

Hi, This is a long shot and I don't have a lot to go off, but I heard a song on the radio (not sure if it was Capital, Radio 1, or a local station). I've heard it once or twice before. There's a female singer over one of those current beats, like storm queen, breach, rudimental, disclosure etc, not sure how to describe it. It's not afterglow. I can't seem to find anything on the charts either. Again, long shot, but feel free to shout out if you think you know what it is! Thanks.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 3rd March 2013
I only listen to the radio around 30 mins a day and that's the drive to and from my office. I've heard it on Capital quite a bit (my finger slipped I didn't mean to switch over to capital ;) ) but not on R1.

Predict Tulisa - 'Young'
this and this. Yeah, not sure why she signed to a label. With a contact like Simon Cowell she could've got on BGT, and her popularity from x-factor she would've been R1 playlisted no problem. And the generic sound of the song Capital FM would play it all day and all night (that is when they aren't playing The Wanted or Cover Drive, ofcourse).

What pisses me off is that Bright Lights is the kinda stuff R1 and CFM like. The song is doing well, but if it got the same amount of airplay as Marcus Collins it'd be a #1 contender.

AATW most likely signed a licensing deal with people like Alexandria Stan for Mr. Saxobeat. So for example they pay A.Stan a fixed fee and AATW own the rights for the UK and keep all proceeds from record sales. This increases the artists popularity in different countries with very low financial risk. Dappy's management is Takeover Ent. which is run by Archie Lamb and Jack Foster, same guys who signed Tinchy. Different from a record label. They are the only two directors of the company. The Jay-Z connection is a joint venture between JF + AL + Tinchy and Jay-Z who created Takeover Roc Nation which focuses on finding UK/European acts to sign to the label. If Dappy gets dropped from AATW which seems very unlikely, then it's Takeover Entertainment's job to find Dappy another record label.

Yeah I really like this and I thought radio stations would too. But f*** Capital. Whenever I switch to Capital, it's either The Wanted or Cover Drive, both of which their parent company have a financial interest in.

New album. Called Full Tank I think.

iTunes Chart: February 2012 (Part III)
I hope it gets top 5 too. But isn't it being released on the 4th? And I'm not surprised that Tinchy doesn't get airplay anymore. He could release the song of the century and get ignored by the radio stations LOL.

Alexandra Burke - Elephant
Terrible. Generic. Will only sell because of the artists name. Replace her vocals with any female who makes it past the audition stage of x-factor and it will sound exactly the same.

Predict: Tinchy Stryder feat. Pixie Lott - Bright Lights
Tinchy needs this to be a hit. He addresses his decline in popularity in the song. But I think it's a blow when Big Brother try to get you to be on their show full of has-beens and reality stars. http://www.mtv.co.uk/news/tinchy-stryder/3...ity-big-brother Song is growing on me though.

TBH I'm not sure why Skrillex is on this list. He's already pretty huge, and is nominated for 5 Grammys!

C'mon Dot Rotten! Frank Ocean is great, but I'm really liking The Weeknd. Def. destined for huge things. I can see him being the next Usher.

He'll have to hand in his testicles if he didn't atleast try. Man, that woman is gorgeous! Also, Tinchys new EP http://soundcloud.com/takeover/sets/tinchy...-the-wish-list/

Ah this is the only version I've heard.

He seems the most humble of the current British rappers imo. I guess it goes to show people who make very average songs but put on a blatant front and try to create a fictitious personality - like lady gaga - sell a lot of records. I like the song, but is this Tinchy ft Pixie lott? Seems the other way around lol. And Eric- I agree with What do you take me for. That grew on me and now love it.

Dizzee Rascal Signs to Universal Records
Maybe, but I think the majority of people who bought WITS bought it on the chrous, not to say Tinie was poor on it, just that's all people really heard before purchasing. I guess this is why I think Bonkers would do better than Holiday. Bonkers doesn't have a whole lot of lyrics compared to Holiday, and the British accent on rap isn't familiar with the US public.

Dizzee Rascal Signs to Universal Records
I mean, dizzee sold something like 50k or so albums of Boy In Da Corner (I think) in the States, but his newer stuff hasn't done well. I could see something like Bonkers doing very well over there, but he owns the rights to this song so it isn't likely it'd be released via Universal. I'm a Tinie fan, but I think WITS did well over there because it was promoted on a bunch of adverts, promo etc, and only the chrous was played. IMO I can't see him seeing similar success with follow up singles.
