Dizzee Rascal Signs to Universal Records
Yeah, but I meant from his latest album, look how well the singles did. 200k singles equates to £150,000 for him and him only assuming they were all downloads. Any other artist would have to sell a hell of a lot more for that kinda money. I can't see him breaking America so I hope the deal is for US only.

Dizzee Rascal Signs to Universal Records
Sorry if this has been posted before but I've only just found it. A few weeks ago, Dizzee Rascal signed to Universal. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a35...ecord-deal.html I'm glad to see him back but anyone know why he signed!? He was doing well with his own label, Dirtee Stank. Made a LOT of money - millions, more than he would if he was on a label! Under his own label, he could easily sell 6-750k singles before releasing an album which would more than likely go platinum. I don't think I'm being too optimisic on the singles figures because he's well liked and always backed by radio stations. Thoughts?

Tinie - Disc-overy - 1.5m Sold?
I was watching Never Mind the Buzzcocks, hosted by Tinie feat. Example and Pixie (hilarious episode) and before they intro'd Tinie Tempah, they said he has sold 1.5m albums. It didn't seem right, was just wondering if it's accurate?

R1 average listener now 32
Capital is basically the same 4 generic pop songs on rotation. Turn on Capital and it's either Pitbull, Gaga, The Wanted or LMFAO. Real boring stuff. I def prefer Radio 1.

Yep when grime came about Wiley, Dizzee and Tinchy were the pioneers, so I was glad to see all 3 see chart success. Tinchy is still about and doing well, although Third Strike flopped, good singles came from it Also, Spaceship has done well, I think it's sold close to 200k, and I hope 'off the record' can do better, although I'm not a big fan of the track. just catching up on this thread from when I mentioned tinchy earlier, apologies for the late reply. I don't think Tinie replaced him, it's just when he came along with a HUGE hit, it was more of Tinie or Tinchy and not both side by side like it should've been considering Tinchy was the highest selling male artist in the uk in 08/09 (can't remember). Tinie deserved the success but it shouldn't have overshadowed tinchy, and he should still be getting a lot of airplay but sadly he isn't. 'Off the record' is similar to a lot of chart music right now, catchy lyrics, featuring a very hot artist right now, something like this by a different artist and radio stations would cream their pants and play this frequently.

Ah cool. Yeah Xtra factor. What do you think of the song? I liked spaceship but I'm not a big fan of Off the Record. I hope it does well though, been a fan for years and I don't like how he's forgotten about and ignored by a lot of Radio stations since Tinie came along.

Tinchy is releasing that week with a Calvin Harris production too right? I don't listen to the radio much, how's that doing with airplay?

Cher Lloyds song is decent enough, definitely better than Swagger Jagger. But her live performance was average at best. They've changed her voice so much on the song you can't tell it's the same singer when she sings live. Let's just hope prof can stay another week at #1 but I can't see that happening.

Which UK Acts Should Release Singles In The US ???
From that list I can see Pixie Lott making it big in the States, and it doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous. I think JLS - Everybody in Love would do great out there. All other JLS tracks are pretty shitty. IIRC they tried launching EIN stateside with radio plugs but I don't think it went anywhere. As for Prof, it would be great to see him make it big out there but not sure it'll happen soon. Tinie Tempah had 1 mediocre hit (yeah it sold 1m but he's still relatively unknown) but the chorus on WITS got played the most. From all the ads I didn't hear Tinie's verse.

Breaking Bad
Best show on TV ever. Well, I'm putting it joint with The Wire. Depending on how the final season goes, it could pip it to #1 for me personally. And BB > MM.
