Love Parks + Community equally. Some of the best comedy on TV at the moment.
  2. Best thing about this is the Lily Allen sample.
  3. One can hope. Although Rihanna has pretty much revealed all and left little to the imagination. Not complaining, just sayin' ;) The same site which broke the sextape news is the same site who said Jay-Z punched J.Cole for sleeping with Rihanna and that his album will receive no promotion.
  4. Some of the music getting pushed is very generic, very poor music. Someone makes a dance song, all over the radio. Gets to #1. Then it's rehashed, new artist name, same radio promotion, same chart position. LWTCDI was edgy, catchy, appealed to the mainstream and underground. If he initially tried to get on the radio with 'Bus Commercial' or 'Hustle On' it wouldn't have worked. But this was the perfect song for him. Also, Don't Go There which should've done better. It featured B.o.B, not sure if he was huge here at that time or not, but it should've done better.
  5. Lady Gaga's music is shit. Her personality is blatantly a farce and she's trying too hard to be a mix of Grace Kelly and Madonna. I have heard her sing with just a mic and piano, and she can sing well, but she chooses to make shitty poppy red-one induced diarrhea. Yeah, R1 is very diverse. Greg James played Lowkey who is, in my opinion, the best rapper in the WORLD right now, polical activist (twitter = lowkeymusic1), then on the same show played a lot of different genres. Regarding Giggs - he used to be a gang member/leader. He went to jail for a few years on gun charges. Came out, started making music. Got signed to XL. The DAY giggs was meant to go in to sign his papers, Trident (Londons gang police or whatever) called the label and said it was a bad idea and not to do it. Props to XL, they went ahead. Giggs announced a tour, Trident blocked it and didn't allow him to do his gigs. If he gets booked anywhere in the country and it's heavily promoted, it's shut down by police who say it's getting out of hand. I do not condone crime, but if someone tries to leave that life and go into music and the govt don't allow it, isn't that counter-intuitive? Just because his content was talking about that life and his struggles. I'm glad he didn't call in Calvin Harris to make a tune because of this. He did make 'look what the cat dragged in' which was still rap, his own style, and commercial appeal, but alas, no radio play hence no chart success.
  6. If we're going off JBGTG and INYT then yes, closer to Tinie or Chipmunk. But listening to bits off his new album and RAAI I would say he's with Wretch. But as you say, all a matter of opinion. I don't mind how popular an artist gets, but to completely sell out the Genre which propelled you to being known by masses of people is a huge let down in my book. I grew up listening to Grime and Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder and Wiley and these three have sold out. Grime doesn't pay (see what I did there? ;p) so I see why they did it, but to not put out music for the fans that started your career is sad. Props to chipmunk for releasing spazzz.com though, which is very good. We've gone off on a tangent so I'll just say let's agree to disagree.
  7. I personally would consider Rap to be a genre of music. Rapping would be the style of vocals. Tinie, Tinchy, Dizzee etc would consider themselves rappers, but in my opinion, they aren't making as much 'real' rap or grime as they should be. Yes, I know real rap cannot be measured or assessed so it's just my opinion. I would say Wretch/Prof (with latest songs) are closer to Giggs than Tinie. Shame what happened to Giggs. Had a lot of hype and the police restricted him from becoming even more popular. Yeah, Jungle is a great track, and having listented to snippets to his new album they're original. RAAI is just rapping, and a female chorus with a drum beat. Yes, ADK made these kind of productions too but you're going too far if you say he 'created' that sound. Yeah I've noticed a lot of people here listen to Capital and the same 4 tunes on repeat (anything by Pitbull, LMFAO, J-Lo and The Wanted) and have a hissy fit when somebody doesn't like Lady Gaga or Cher Lloyd. I'm not fussed though, I just come here to see what my favourite artists sold :) When he first signed to Virgin and released his first two singles he was ALWAYS compared to Eminem. In the papers, interviews, it got to a point where a standard question in interviews was "so what do you think about people comparing you to Eminem". They indeed have nothing in common except for skin colour and their music genres and this is why they were compared. I guess if another Asian RNB singer came through he'd be compared to Jay Sean too. I guess it's just the media being lazy.
  8. Regarding real rap, Prof has been around way before the Lily Allen collab. Here are 2 of his tracks. I understand he had to make more commercial music to break through, but I'm glad he's pushing out rap now he has a large fanbase. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16eYWZ2VUBE Now listen to the track which broke Tinie Tempah through (he was also around way before pass out) Don't get me wrong. I like Tinie Tempah, I'm a genuine fan. Would I wouldn't classify his music as rap? Not really. And how would you re-structure a drum beat, rap, and strong female chorus. Intro - Verse - Chrous - Verse - Chorus is how it goes. And the beat heavily features drums. A hi-hat, bass, kick, and snare. The beat is not the same as Alex Da Kid's production. I can see why you'd want to compare him to tracks which feature Eminem, both white rappers, but completely different styles. But if it sounds similar to you that's all good. It's just how all Pitbull, J-Lo, Saturdays, Lady Gaga and Example tracks all sound the same to me - all typical dance music.
  9. I disagree. Rap + beat heavily featuring drums and a female chorus = not copying Alex Da Kid. I hope it gets to #1. The lyrics are deep, prof is a very good rapper and it's exactly what we need in the charts. Real UK rap. Not Tinie, Tinchy or Chipmunk. Hopefully we see more REAL rap from Wretch and Prof. Green like this. I liked 'Don't Go', but I think it was targetted towards the females and ofcourse Professor Greens previous singles.

Both great songs. Amazing production on Earthquake but I've been a prof fan for years now and hope he gets the #1 spot.
  11. Great video, really like the song, but I hope Prof gets the #1. I've heard 2 different songs off his album - DPMO, and at your Inconvenience. Both great, both #1 potential. Don't know why his label are releasing the album 1 week after it's first single.
  12. Lol, I figured most people here listen to Capital. Same 4 songs on loop. When I tune it it's almost always The Wanted (for obvious reasons) or Pitbull and they're still playing LMFAO party rock anthem.
  13. Song is OK enough, but Pusha T is terrible

Hey guys, I heard a song on Radio 1 or Capital and it sounded like a dance song. Lyrics went something like "so I asked johnny and he said *random language*" then the beat drops. Any ideas?
  16. Loving Dappy - No regrets. Great beat, lyrics and all around very good song. Hopefully it outsells Wand Erection.

What's going on in the albums charts?
  18. Loving this album so far. Where do you guys think it'll chart? Who else is releasing this week?
  19. I thought this would top the charts considering how well singles off his first album did. I think I'm missing something. It peaked at 24 on the UK charts and was released on 7th August. ??

anything without a generic pop/dance beat and doesn't appeal to 12 year old girls = dull right?

Don't Go is about as close to real UK hip-hop/rap you'll find in the UK charts, esp. in the top 10. It doesn't have a pop vibe to it which is essentially a requirement for urban acts to conform to if they want to earn that coveted top spot. All hiphop/long time wretch fans hope this gets to #1. Hopefully Wretch can release songs in the future like ' ' and get it to the top spot.

Who do you guys think will come out on top? Wretch or Emile? Predictions for both? I'm hoping for Wretch to do exceptionally well.

Agreed. He's clearly a singer. He's made a few songs with Chipmunk IIRC. Also, I remember hearing a song he made with Bashy, which if done with a high profile UK based rapper like Chipmunk or Tinie Tempah, it would've done amazing imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVPCCBWLmCI
