Tony's 1990s
That's very stable. I would say my fave 20 of the 90s would change more than that as I discover new songs from before 94 and some others from later years that I missed out on. Especially American music that I didn't get to hear until years afterwards.

Tony's 1990s
Excellent thread. I really only got into music in 1994 so it was great to hear songs that I'd never heard before. Loved some of the lesser known Manics songs.

Tony's 1990s
OMG I totally forgot about Everything Will Flow. The lyrics were getting very silly by the time Headmusic came along but that somg was far from their worst.

Tony's 1990s
I am saying that each element of a song CAN be a hook. Atmospheric drone is a hook for certain listener - as we don't all look for the same things in music. Someone listening to drone metal is looking for something different that someone listening to an Aqua album and what attracts their attention in one drone metal track in comparison to another drone metal track is a hook, something that triggers their musical taste.

Tony's 1990s
I don't agree. What I do thing is that hooks are different for different people. A hook may not be melodic but textural, timbrel, percussive, tonal, etc.

Alex, does the music of a song entertain you or is it just the vocals?

Hit albums you bought...but soon wished you hadn't!
Dream Brother is my favourite song on Grace. I do think the album is a little overrated.

What date would you consider the best of the 90s, Alex?

Tony's 1990s
Well all three are pretty amazing. Can't really fault the ground breaking nature of Windowlicker and Out of the Blue and No Scrubs is such a wondeful creation. It's a valid opinion that it was a greate date for releases.

Top 100 Best Selling Dance Singles of The 90s
I never considered Believe as a contender. I agree with gezza. You're being needlessly harsh. It's just a thread on a forum. It's clearly debatable.
