  1. And they were quite amazing. Never been a fan, but they were spot on tune and gave a hugely entertaining, energetic peformance. Faultless.

    +5 - JLS - 'The Club Is Alive' +4 - Justin Bieber ft. Ludacris - 'Baby' +3 - Jason Derulo - 'Ridin' Solo' +2 - Magnetic Man - 'I Need Air' +1 - The Saturdays - 'Missing You' :)
  3. Whatever happened to 'The Silence'...? The only stand-out track from her album to be honest and yet she releases the mediocre 'Bad Boys' (and collaborates - a sure sign of confidence I'm sure), the lukewarm 'Broken Heels', and another collaboration, 'All Night Long'. And look, there's yet another collaboration lined up for September... joy. Considering her competition that week... she's got McFly's 'party Girl' which has already done quite a bit more than turn a few heads, and she's up against massive comebacks from Alesha Dixon and The Script. But i still reckon she'll get it, just like how I despise Taio Cruz's 'Dynamite' but you can tell it's weekly cometition is dire, so it'll be a surefire #1. MARK MY WORDS! But yeah it's still crap.
  4. I agree, I despised the song at first because of how soulful Alexandra was on the excrement Factor but after I hear dthis I thought someone had sent her back to 1999. So CHEESY! Annoyingly it grew on me, so the video better be good but to be honest, from what I've seen it's hardly going to be ground-breaking... I could probably guess what she's gunna be doing.: They'll be a beach, she's meet some boy, start rubbing up against him, and the video will end in a club. SAWTEHHHD. Send me my cheque. End Note: I'm getting tired of the Alexandra "Look at me looking pensive" Burke's single covers.. they're all the same - she's looking pensive out of the cover with some wind blowing her hair. Revolutionary.

In regard to 'All Time Low' and 'Heart Vacancy'... is there not something peculiarly... 'mature' about the songs? "I'm in pieces/It seems like peace is/The only thing I'll never know", I don't know about you lot but I couldn't see JLS singing those lyrics, they'd rather whine about "glossy magazines"... great one, so you're saying she's completely fake and need airbrushing? I'm sure you're quite the charmer there, Aston. I don't get why people are making out that 'Heart Vacancy' is a typical boyband song for boybands to sing: to me, it doesn't seem very typical at all; a typical boyband song would be the kind that follows the formula Westlife have hard-wired into every song they did: 1) Four piano-chord introduction, usually in a desecnding, minor key 2) Some lyrics about heartbreak/love confusion 3) Cymbal into chorus/maybe a few harmonies 4) Drums kick in after first chorus 5) Big chorus 6) Relatively quiet middle 8/repeat of the opening lyrics 7) Gospel choir to back up another chorus/I fall asleep 8) every dies away slowly, leaving lead singer to drone on te opening lyrics again. Seeing The Wanted live, they are all very able vocalists - particularly Max and Nathan - and 'Heart Vacancy' is not typical - the lyrics are again very mature - rather than claiming something like "You only get one shot/So may it count/You might never get this moment again". "I hear your heart cry for love/But you act like there's no room/Room for me or anyone" is just far more mature sounding; the kind of thing you'd hear from Take That. The fact the song features a distorted violin, guitar, and still has element of electronic influences, without relying on a huge gospel choir to back it up, masses of diatonic strings and huge drums. Granted The Wanted only co-wrote 'Heart Vacancy' and they don't have any co-writing credits on 'All Time Low', but they do write their own songs, for instance - 'Behind Bars', which strikes me as a possible single is easily one of their best songs in my opinion.

The thing with this song is it's Alesha's 'Ensexification' record. Look at Rihanna - she became a sexy, dominant female figure around the release of 'Shut Up And Drive', which saw Rihanna's shorts climb up her thighs a few more inches and a choppy, 'bad girl' haircut to go with the entire transformation - even her album personified the transition to the sexier, risqué image. As for Miley, her album 'Can't Be Tamed' follows the same route - splitting from her alter ego Hannah Montana and the 'Disney Princess' image - she donned a new image with plenty of black PVC, revealed flesh, and darker make-up than before - the songs she was singing, like 'Liberty Walk' and 'Can't Be Tamed', as well as the controversial performances like the one on BGT, saw her transition to a more sexy popstar. The same thing is happening with Demi Lovato now - she's also ditching the Disney 'good girl' image and is working on an R&B album. With Alesha, 'Drummer Boy' marks her foray into a sexier image, sound, and concept. Like Miley, Rihanna and Demi she's becoming more risqué in what she sings, and the lyrics involved - "Pick up your stick/Hit me with your best shot" is a far cry from "Does he wash up?/He never washes up". Looking at the video for 'Drummer Boy', you can see her thighs are on display too, with plenty of crazy outfits and a completely new image, because the Rule of Thumb these days is: Sex sells. By the way, I love the song, love the video and the unquestioned highlight of said video can be veiwed at 0:40. :D
