  1. Having 2 winners does help a smidge! Very pleased with such a good set of results overall and of course thrilled to have 5 through *.*
  2. Side by side with my backup entry (Dotter obvs, not whatever impending noise Bre has sent) *.*
  3. Incredible song, but absolutely a clear cut veto given the combined awareness.
  4. I’ve gone with an entry I’ve been sitting on since April, but been obsessed with the last few weeks

It’s a very enjoyable album, instant highlight is I Hate Love and I’m also a big fan of Favourite Kind of High.

Mine has been dispatched too! I actually forgot I had pre-ordered it tbh

TWO MDNA songs seems like a sufficient enough tell that Trolldonna is out in force with that list.

  9. So far it's 16 DNQ's out of 123 contests entered so an 87% qualification rate. Had I made any effort at all in 2018, that would likely have been 3/4 fewer. All Time Great Songs BJSC CIX - Laura Branigan – Solitaire – I had originally intended to send Gloria, but this was vetoed (probably rightly) and was set on sending Laura. Not shocked this DNQ’d as big pop ballads have a chequered BJSC history, plus it’s almost 40 years old so had the odds stacked against it. Still remains an absolute 11/10 song. BJSC LXXXII - Jess Mills – For My Sins - This was ''the one that got away’’ for me for a very long time, so when my 50th anniversary came around I went with it – I still stand by my choice even though it flopped. There are definitely songs that got vetoed (many, many, many, many of them as the mods will attest) or I chose not to enter that I prefer, but this is still pretty close to pop perfection. Fantastic – 100% deserved to qualify BJSC LXXIII - Hayden James – Something About You – Altyr are not known for straying too far from a well honed ‘’sound’’, so I was as surprised as anyone by how much I loved (and still love) this. It didn’t help that it seemed to be getting decent hype. It wouldn’t be the first time Altyr hype was unfounded (that’s another long list), but I was genuinely shocked this DNQ’d. BJSC CXXXVI - Sofia Monroy – Sweet Temptation – The one that broke my record 22 song qualification streak. Sometimes you know it isn’t happening and I definitely did with this one. It’s such a bright and breezy / catchy pop song and I don’t think it was in the bottom echelons of it’s contest but clearly YOU LOT DID. BJSC CXXXVII - Julie Bergan – We’re Coming Up – One of many ‘just missed out' entries on the list – I think this one DNQ’d around the time they extended the qualifiers to a set 20 from each semi and would have made it under the new rules? It did quite well in TBO so that was some vindication. BJSC CXIII - Pia Mia – Bitter Love – Is it original? No, Is it earth shatteringly brilliant? No. What it is is a very enjoyable pop song and that is very much the Altyr stock in trade. Still fond, but not essential chapters in the history of FYR-Altyr-Muunilinst-on-the-Wold BJSC LXVII - Zella Day – East of Eden – Probably a fair DNQ, I had wanted to send the far superior Sweet Ophelia, but as is so often the case it was vetoed (I think I’m on about 30 vetoes in total). BJSC CI - Amanda Delara – We Don’t Run From Anyone - For anyone paying attention to Altyr in 2018, I gave up, was very much phoning it in and sending anything I vaguely liked a.k.a it was my very own ANNUS HORIBILIS. That was very much reflected in the fact I DNQ’d 5 times that year (and ended up 44th for the year, my first/last time outside the top 16). Anyway, I do think of all my lack-of-effort-entries that year this is the one that deserved more. BJSC CVIII - Samantha Harvey – Please – Another one with a strong chorus and hook that I feel probably just got a bit unlucky? It feels more like a 33rd in the final that a DNQ (though the margin between these is often wafer thin). BJSC LII - Viceroy – Dream of Bombay (Feat. Chela) – I had to choose between this and Marabou by Antonia (which Aquafina entered instead) – I chose wrong, but still enjoy the song when it pops up on shuffle. BJSC XLIII - Darkness Falls – The Void – The very first Altyr (FYR-Vojvodina-on-the-Wold at the time) DNQ, it was also a victim of probably getting a little unlucky. I think it stands up fairly well to time, and is another one that I listen to any time it pops up on shuffle. Serviceable but forgettable BJSC CIII - Dog Collective – Next To Me (Feat. MPH) – This is a fine pop song, it probably got what it deserved. BJSC CIV - HEDDA – Reverse – I still remember the day I decided to enter this, I was on my way to work and had a playlist of about 15 potential songs to work through. This was the one that stuck with me most so I went with it. It definitely didn’t deserve to qualify. It’s not a bad song, it’s just generic c-grade Scandipop. BJSC XCVIII - Moody – Karma – This was not it. It’s that weird sort of ‘’quirky’’ pop that ends up being utterly pedestrian and a bit bland. BJSC XLIV - Kura – Gógó – My 2nd ever DNQ, it definitely deserved it. There’s literally no audience for it on Buzzjack. What was I thinking: BJSC LXXXIX - Nick Talos – Crush On You – This sounds like an Eastern European Eurovision entry from about 2014, with a budget of about 3p and undetectable effort levels.
  10. 5 (I think?) medal positions is genuinely a SHOCKER
  11. Did not expect an 18 tonight! Thanks Jonjo *.*
  12. Sorry not sorry but I absolutely love this TRASH *.* Of course I’d rather she did something GOOD again, but I’ll take catchy and throwaway. Plus I’ve always love a Madge expletive laden spoken word section.
  13. I have no idea who is going to win, there’s some very strong pop around this month so hopefully one of them! However I came here to make the bold prediction that I’m going to come LAST *.*

Mine came today and it was shipped Wednesday too! It’s gorgeous (I got the sandstone vinyl)

Hearing in Colour is AMAZING, a SEB classic in the making methinks *.* Broken Toy and He's a Dreamer are the other big highlights from my few listens to far. It's a very good album, very much in line with my expectations but pleased with how good she sounds throughout and it feels like a perfect summery album. 07 A Thousand Orchids 10 Breaking the Circle 08 Until the Wheels Fall Off 10 Everything is Sweet 07 Lost in The Sunshine 08 Tokyo 08 Beyond the Universe 09 He's a Dreamer 07 Reflections 10 Hearing in Colour 09 Broken Toy 08 We've Been Watching You
  16. Pretty pleasing results from a not great semi - genuinely didn’t expect myself to make it through so that’s a lovely surprise!

It still feels ages away! Probably because I’m not seeing her until December.
  18. On my way into the arena I saw dozens of people dressed as Käärijä, so it does feel inevitable Finland winning the televote but still confident Loreen has it in the bag overall.
  19. People there last night have suggested they really ramped up the backing track for the Jury final, to the point Mae can barely be heard at points *.* So they may well have listened!
  20. I’m thinking of going for a distinctly un-Altyr entry this month - had it on my long list for a while now but been really loving it the last couple of weeks.
  21. Being last isn’t IDEAL when there’s 26 songs, though it might work better as it’s a home contest. It would definitely be a benefit if the performance felt like a proper climax, rather than an anticlimax.
  22. I think up until the last few days I had expected Mae to PERFORM the song. You can have poor vocals if you put on a good show, or vice versa, but Mae does neither. The song is definitely good enough, but without either of those on her side it's not looking great.
  23. An absolute 10/10 pop TRIUMPH *.* It's no Turn It Into Love (WHAT IS?) but easily one of her best from the first few albums.
  24. Exactly! I don’t think this SHOULD come bottom 5 tomorrow, but I can certainly see a case in which it WILL.
  25. I think the verses are fine, but the chorus sounds LIMP and that’s not good when it’s supposed to be a punchy uptempo - they could easily what Poland did for Blanka
