It soon proved to just be a fanbase-led hit however, departing the chart altogether after a fortnight. The song was tailor-made for the pop lovers of Buzzjack however, so it is to no surprise that it was a very strong contender to win this poll. Another Buzzjack fave in Raye was involved alongside Jade in the songwriting. This only means it is congratulations to Tame Impala whose 'Dracula' is now an honorary UK top 20 hit. The Australian one man band had been a cult favourite for over a decade and had a number of sleeper successes such as 3x platinum 'The Less I Know The Better'. However an actual top 40 hit had evaded him until last year when it was time for his fifth album 'Deadbeat'. 'Dracula' was the third single taken from it and a much more commercially-friendly release than the previous two which led to it instantly giving his best chart performance before eventually just narrowly missing a top 20 spot upon the album's release. However a remix with Blackpink's Jennie has given it a second lease of life in the chart where a future actual top 20 position is not entirely out of the question at this point... But for now at least, this is a brilliant choice of winner! Full results: DSQ 203 Tame Impala - Dracula 01 195 Jade - FUFN (F*ck You For Now) 02 164 Rosalía feat. 2. #02 Blackpink - Jump CR: {18}-31-36-35-28-22-29-34-37->9 Points: 178 #01 Lily Allen - Madeline CR: 19-{16}-18-36-63->5 Points: 203 In second place we have the hottest property in K-pop girl groups Blackpink, who reunited after a few years of all four members going off to do solo projects. 'Jump' was the returning single which became their third top 20 hit and the song to have the most chart longevity from them yet. It led a recently released EP 'Deadline', the remainder of which seemingly hasn't been so well received by the fans. Amongst the song's producers were two members of Major Lazer in Diplo & Ape Drums. Therefore it is congratulations to Lily Allen who convincingly wins with 'Madeline'. Who the f*** is Madeline, you may ask. Well she is a a fictionalised version of the woman her ex husband had been having an affair with which was the inspiration for much of her comeback album 'West End Girl'. The album's subject matter helped it become a surprise streaming success with three of its tracks reaching the top 20, this alongside the title track (#13 in this poll) and the top 10 hit 'Pussy Palace'. 'Madeline' now becomes an honorary second top 10 hit from the release with Buzzjack. 7. #05 Lady Gaga - Garden of Eden CR: {23}-44-62-62-65-64-62->7 Points: 142 #04 Addison Rae - Fame Is A Gun CR: 27-{23}-25-28-33-33-42-47-58-45R(23)-47-44-47-41-40-45-44-49->18 Points: 155 #03 Rosalía feat. Björk & Yves Tumor - Berghain CR: 51-{36}-67->3 Points: 164 Finishing top five in both polls this year is Lady Gaga as 'Garden of Eden' commences at fifth place here. The song proved to be the fan-favourite album track upon the release of 'Mayhem', narrowly ahead of other missed-single opportunities 'Vanish Into You' and 'How Bad Do U Want Me'. It was rumoured to get a single push however this never materialised as she had 'The Dead Dance' (#3 in the non-top 10 hits poll) in the waiting instead. The bigger of Addison Rae's two hits last year proved to be 'Fame Is A Gun', which also saw a minor chart resurgence this year, released as the launch single into her self titled debut album. Being a catchy upbeat electro pop track it was the first of hers I was a proper fan of. Taking the bronze medal to hang up next to her BRIT award we have Rosalía. Released as the lead for fourth album 'Lux' it received a lot of critical praise for the orchestration and her operatic vocal. Less expected perhaps, was a UK top 40 position, only the second in her career (the first being heavily aided by Billie Eilish). It was also the first chart appearance for Icelandic singer Bjork in just over 20 years and Yves Tumor's debut for their English-language guest appearances. As the first Rosalía song I highly rated its appearance this far up is great to see. Tomorrow evening: Jade vs. Tame Impala
  8. #05 Benson Boone - Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else CR: 30-25-27-24-28-21-22-21-22-24-{20}-23-25-26-74->15 Points: 146 #04 Lorde - What Was That CR: {11}-19-25-29-35-33-50-61-56-35-50-72->12 Points: 159 #03 Lady Gaga - The Dead Dance CR: {13}-13-16-19-22-24-29-36-35-44-59-72->12 Points: 161 The top performing male here is Benson Boone, perhaps not who you'd expect to be a huge Buzzjack favourite after 'Beautiful Things' grated on so many of us however it was the lead single to album #2 that we took a lot more kindly to. The song looked to be a very unlucky top 20 miss but eventually did scrape in eligibility for this particular poll assisted by 'Mystical Magical' (#21 in this poll) taking off quicker as the second single. Meanwhile Lorde commenced album #4 with 'What Was That', continuing the run of all her album leads making the top 20 however just missing out on becoming a belated second top 10 appearance. It was her most-appreciated hit since 2017's 'Green Light', the winner of that year's poll. In third place, Lady Gaga rounded out her sixth solo album cycle with 'The Dead Dance', released as a tie-in with season 2 of Netflix series 'Wednesday' and later added to the deluxe re-issue of 'Mayhem'. The three previous singles all reached the top 10 but in fairness they were all easily better too. Tomorrow evening: Blackpink vs. Lily Allen

  14. #10 Sombr - We Never Dated CR: {37}-54->2 Points: 126 #09 Addison Rae - Headphones On CR: {24}-29-40-53-66-67-65-44->8 Points: 130 #08 PinkPantheress - Tonight CR: {35}-59-64-69-68R(2)->5 Points: 132 #07 Miley Cyrus - End of the World CR: {23}-32-43-44-65->5 Points: 134 #06 PinkPantheress - Illegal CR: 48-74R(3)-60-73-36-{22}-23-26-25-26-71-74R(2)->12 Points: 138 One of the year's big breakthroughs was Sombr who had four top 10 hits in the span of the last 12 months. In between these however was 'We Never Dated' which didn't perform so well just edging the top 40 not helped by his two previous hits still riding high in the chart at this point. It was still a good effort from him though that perhaps ought to have stuck around a little while longer. No more male acts until the top five now - firstly we have former TikTok influencer Addison Rae who last year proved herself to be a serious popstar with her debut album. 'Headphones On' was the first of two hits in the year, the second which will appear later. Another pop girlie with two songs here we have PinkPantheress. Leading her 'Fancy That' album (one of the year's best in dance-pop) was 'Tonight' which was only a minor top 40 hit but perhaps a sign of bigger things to come. 'Illegal' then followed quickly racing back up the chart a few months after the album launch thanks to a TikTok viral trend featuring the opening verse. PinkP now sits in the top five with 'Stateside' thanks to Zara Larsson's input on the remix. She sandwiches Miley Cyrus, whose apocalyptic album lead underperformed a fair bit with the general public after she'd previously had 2023's biggest hit in 'Flowers' although it was still a fave with the online pop fanbase.

The OCC rules eventually gave way for two of their other songs to have a run in with the film's ballad 'What It Sounds Like' not quite following 'How It's Done' into the top 10. Sabrina Carpenter remained popular as ever with 'Man's Best Friend' her second post-major-breakthrough album. Taken from it as the fifth track to make a chart appearance is 'House Tour' which went viral for its far from subtle innuendo. Charli meanwhile belatedly scored a hit off her 2020 album 'How I'm Feeling Now', after going viral on TikTok it was soon given a single push and music video. It was produced by A.G. Cook who also worked with her on most of the 'Brat' album that dominated the previous year in pop/dance music. Doja Cat lead her fifth album with 'Jealous Type', the second song in the top 10 produced by Jack Antonoff after 'House Tour'. The album was her first since her 2020 breakthrough to not produce a top 10 hit and it may well be that she has indeed surpassed her commercial peak now however this track did cater well to the more pop-leaning fanbase here. Meanwhile the first of two male acts in the top 10 here are Oasis. The song 'Acquiesce' was originally a B-side to #1 hit 'Some Might Say' but took off in its own right last year following the reunion tour. Helped perhaps by it being one of the few songs where both Gallagher brothers share vocals and lyrics that could be interpreted to be about their reunion.

Next up two Eurovision songs, the first of which was very handsomely rewarded by the televoting public and the other which in the infamous UK fashion scored nil points from European viewers. Tommy Cash had already been one of Estonia's most established artists having guested on a Charli xcx song but went on to give the country their best placement since 2002 with a novelty song about coffee. Female vocal trio Remember Monday were chosen as the UK's entry and were narrowly the country's favourite of the contest in the week following. Tyler, the Creator had a very prolific year releasing 2 albums in the span of 9 months. The only lasting hit from album #2 proved to be 'Sugar On My Tongue'. The similarly named Tyla also had a minor hit at the start of the year in 'Push 2 Start'. We will see her again in the 2026 top 20 hits poll. House DJ Sonny Fodera had one of the year's unluckiest top 20 misses with 'Tell Me', having spent the best part of 3 months between 23-29. It started another good year for vocalist Clementine Douglas who soon had her biggest hit to date guesting on Calvin Harris' 'Blessings'. Irish band Fontaines D.C. had quickly gained even bigger prominence with the rollout of fourth album 'Romance' that saw them scoring minor charting singles for the first time. It eventually culminated in deluxe re-issue promo 'It's Amazing To Be Young' charting their first top 40 with the newfound fanbase. Katseye were recently launched as a multinational girlband hoping to follow the success of K-pop groups, so far they've been moderately successful with two top 40 hits, the first and bigger of these being 'Gabriela' which sits at 13th before we rewind the clocks back for the last two. Firstly the death of Ozzy Osbourne prompted 'Crazy Train' to belatedly reach the top 40, having missed out on its original release in 1980. He also returned to the top 20 with 'Paranoid' as lead for Black Sabbath, though that had already been a #4 hit. The reunion tour for Oasis saw a number of their tracks return to the chart but also a couple make it in for the first time - 'Slide Away' was originally an album track from 1994's 'Definitely Maybe' however a recent live recording was put out as a single which prompted it to chart for a week. Top 10 A-Z Addison Rae - Fame Is A Gun Addison Rae - Headphones On Jade - FUFN (F*ck You For Now) Lady Gaga - Garden of Eden Miley Cyrus - End of the World PinkPantheress - Illegal PinkPantheress - Tonight Rosalía feat. Björk & Yves Tumor - Berghain Sombr - We Never Dated Tame Impala - Dracula (if 'Dracula' does belatedly make the top 20 at any point in the next few weeks, it will retroactively be disqualified)

The song took off following a remix with guest verses by Shenseea & Skillibeng who were left uncredited by the OCC. Silent Addy remained true to his name not saying a word on the track, he is credited as the song's producer. The first in a duo of fairly unknown UK house DJs getting unexpectedly viral hits, Rossi from London teamed with a more familiar face to the charts in vocalist Jazzy for 'High On Me' at 19th. Five places above we have the cousins Max & Luke Dean with 'Can't Decide', with vocals sampled from Qendresa's '2 Much'. Tate McGee put out a deluxe version of her latest album which saw 'Nobody's Girl' briefly chart, rounding off a year where she also had four top 10 hits and a US #1 with Morgan Wallen. The more popular of Sam Fender's top 20 hits proves to be 'Arm's Length', put out as the second and final pre-release single from 'People Watching' long before Olivia Dean made 'Rein Me In' the biggest hit of his career yet. At 16th it is our token Christmas classic of the year, Darlene Love's offering for the 1963 Phil Spector compilation first charted in 2017 and had eventually reached #20 in Christmas just passed. The top rated Blackpink soloist is at 15th here from Lisa albeit with a lot of help from Raye as it is essentially her song that she partly gave away. Doja Cat also provided a guest rap and she will appear again in the top 10, as will Blackpink as a group. Likewise we have another Lily Allen song higher up but for now at 13th is the title track and opener to her surprise success comeback album 'West End Girl'. Not long after a top 10 hit having been named after her, Kehlani broke back into the chart after a six-year absence with 'Folded' becoming her first top 20 and one of the year's biggest RnB hits. We also had a new Rihanna hit in the year. If by new we mean new in the chart that is, as she remains essentially retired from music (that Smurfs film half-song doesn't count) we had to settle for the 2007 fan-favourite album track in 'Breakin Dishes' going viral, belatedly the ninth hit from the 'Good Girl Gone Bad' era. Top 10 A-Z: Benson Boone - Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else Blackpink - Jump Charli XCX - Party 4 U Doja Cat - Jealous Type Huntr/x - What It Sounds Like Lady Gaga - The Dead Dance Lily Allen - Madeline Lorde - What Was That Oasis - Acquiesce Sabrina Carpenter - House Tour
