What are the chart rules regarding streaming? For streaming and chart rules related FAQs read the pinned thread regarding this. How many streams equals one download sale? 100 plays if you are on Spotify Premium, or 600 if you are using the ad-supported free tier. However you cannot simply play a song that many times in one day to give it one sale, you are limited to 10 plays per day in terms of what counts to the chart. The number changes to 200 or 1200 plays when a song moves to ACR. For more information on the rules of ACR see this thread. How much does streaming contribute to the chart? Streaming contributes over 90% to the singles chart as a whole. Spotify counts for at least half of this, with Apple Music and Amazon also big contributors. YouTube is also big however most of YouTube's streams are at the free tier so won't count for as much. Why is my fave not doing well? Is it being promoted on a major curated playlist, and/or going viral on TikTok? If it isn't, it's unlikely to really take off! Hot Hits UK is the biggest of these playlists on Spotify from a UK standpoint. The playlist usually updates itself to include breaking hits once or twice a week, though there is no guarantee that your fave will get a place on the playlist. Also, the UK Top 50 is a largely followed playlist and that songs often experience a 'top 50 effect', when they enter the top 50 and get the additional exposure of being on the playlist. Often sales hits don't cross over to being streaming hits, this is usually the case for songs with an older target audience, reality or campaign songs. Also keep in mind that it often takes longer for a song to take off on Spotify than it would on iTunes. My fave didn't debut high and is falling already, does this mean they're flopping? Not necessarily. Most songs debut relatively low as they aren't instantly well-known, and experience a sharp decline on Day 2 as they no longer have the promoted 'New Music Friday' effect. A lot of songs manage to recover through gaining popularity and additions to playlists. Exceptions to the rule of course come from massively hyped releases, such as the recent album impacts from Drake and Taylor Swift. Spotify How do I see today's Spotify chart? For the full top 200, use the link below to go to Spotify's website. You can also use the Kworb website which displays the data in an easier to read format and also contains additional information, however this is often out of date. Hot Hits UK UK Top 50 New Music Friday Today's Top Hits How often does the Spotify chart update? It should update once every day, usually in the early afternoon - although on occasion there will be a delay. What do the numbers mean? The streaming figures cited in the daily chart are the number of streams each song received the previous day. Unlike the iTunes chart, Spotify is not a rolling chart so the numbers will only change once per day. Apple Music How do I see today's Apple Music chart? Olivia Dean is back again with another album track that had a short chart run being abruptly ended by Christmas and 'So Easy' getting a new year's reset. Her friend Sam Fender currently sharing residence at (fake) #1 also appears with an album track. Halloween proved more popular this year or at least you'd have thought so looking at the chart when really it was the OCC being looser than ever about restrictions on chart resets. In any case the benefit of that was a belated top 40 appearance for Andrew Gold's seasonal effort that would've otherwise made it two years before (its #55 position was with ACR applied). The song was recorded in 1996 but more recently given a remix that is the more popular version, not that Andrew would ever have heard it having died in 2011. Lola Young matches the 23rd position 'One Thing' had in the top 20s poll with the follow-up hit 'D£aler' which I presume was not announced on the radio as 'DPoundSignAler'. A rare country hit and an even rarer case of a GOOD country hit now, a track I'd hoped would finish a lot higher but alas 'Indigo' misses the top 20 again being so far the sole hit for both Sam Barber & Avery Anna. Meanwhile we have Lana Del Rey with what may or may not have been the first single from forthcoming album which may or may not have a different name again.

The title track 'For Good' being another duet of the two leads alongside Cynthia Erivo solo number 'No Good Deed' have roughly the same performance here. Neither had any chart longevity as there was a clear consensus that the first film was better or at the very least its songs were more, ahem, popular. Ariana Grande does also have a second track in the section however not associated with Wicked but instead an album track from the 'Eternal Sunshine' deluxe edition. Ed Sheeran put out another mid single in 'Old Phone' in between his two bigger hits of the year - it is the best performing of his three titles here. Older music continued to gain popularity in the year, firstly from The Adventures Of Stevie V whose 1990 #2 hit 'Dirty Cash' was given a remix to be a top 20 hit a third time (if we also count the Dizzee Rascal version) 35 years on. We also had another Coldplay a year after 'We Pray' placed on the podium of this contest but this time for 2000 album track 'Sparks', the song had already gone viral on TikTok but was eventually boosted into the top 20 by the tour. 'Viva La Vida' and 'Yellow' were also brought back but were ineligible here for having originally been top 10 hits. Fred Again & Sammy Virji gave Irish drill rapper Reggie a hit having remixed his 2022 track 'Talk of the Town' seeing the two producers eventually link up after both had a hit each with Skepta. Lola Young shed any 1HW status allegations fairly quickly with 'One Thing' having been her first release about a half year since the breakout of 'Messy' - we may see her further top 40 hit land in a similar position in the other poll. A rare rock band breakthrough happened for Sleep Token this year, in actuality they'd already made it big with their prior album but singles chart success evaded them until 'Emergence' was a surprise top 20 hit and a great one at that. Meanwhile Benson was still Booneing and not just with 'Beautiful Things' continuing to linger about, 'Mystical Magical' was the bigger of his two top 20 hits however the earlier hit remains preferred being yet to appear.

Whilst not finishing amazingly high in the scoreboard it was a fan-favourite regardless thanks to its catchiness and modern dance production. An English language version was hurriedly recorded afterwards but the moment had passed by then for it to further smash. Twice appear, ahem, twice, in the bottom ten - 'Strategy' was also featured in the Demon Hunters film but wasn't also a Huntr/x song this time. Jorja Smith once again got a bit of UK garage in the chart albeit this one was only a top 40 scrape. Another hit for the genre came from Sammy Virji who was one of the year's breakout dance producers, very much assisted by Skepta who also lent his vocal to a bigger Fred Again hit in the year. The triangle would soon be completed with Sammy & Fred teaming up on a top 20 hit yet to appear in that poll's results. Between them we had a random dance remix of a years-old Beluga Lagoon song get viral, a rare Scottish DJ whose name is not Calvin Harris to chart who took the sole credit for this version. SZA brought out a deluxe re-issue of 'SOS', now a whopping 42 tracks long because America rewards stream-trolling. 'BMF' was the biggest hit from the new songs despite a Kendrick Lamar collab also sitting on the list (which did go top 40, but didn't make it out of the qualifier round). Twenty One Pilots continued to retain their fanbase and got another fleeting hit to lead their most recent album. They out-did themselves this past week chart-wise with 'Drag Path' so could very well appear higher up the 2026 poll, assuming it doesn't re-peak in the top 20. Meanwhile woman of the moment Olivia Dean has her first of two appearances here, the track in question was her first hit since the Amazon Alexa assisted Christmas cover from 2021 being a sign of much bigger things to come.
  10. #43 Nathan Dawe & Abi Flynn - Here In Your Arms CR: 45-58-55-54-61-55-54-36-38-{34}-35-34-34-38-41-44->16 Points: 10 #42 Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco & Gracie Abrams - Call Me When You Break Up CR: {28}-49-51-56-46-49-45-49-53-67->10 Points: 31 #41 Ely Oaks - Running Around CR: 59-47-40-36-38-32-{28}-29-30-32-36-39->12 Points: 35 #40 Twice - Takedown CR: 63-47-35-31-27-{24}-24-24-25->9 Points: 38 #39 Jennie - Like Jennie CR: {36}-55-49-60-64-53-48-50-51-69->10 Points: 39 #38 Jisoo & Zayn - Eyes Closed CR: {37}-59->2 Points: 41 #37 Mark Ronson & Raye - Suzanne CR: {34}-41-47-57-54-73-73R(11)->7 Points: 43 #36 Calvin Harris & Jessie Reyez - Ocean CR: {34}-44-52-54-63-70-53-64->8 Points: 47 Starting off the non-top 20 results we have Nathan Dawe who somehow still manages to score hits in 2025 though this year may be where he finally joins Jonas Blue, Joel Corry, Jax Jones and Sigala in the has-beens of generic dance party. Selena Gomez meanwhile made a whole album with husband and record producer Benny Blanco - the sole top 40 hit from the project was assisted by one of the current it girls of pop Gracie Abrams. Another dance track falls outside the top 40 here being the breakthrough for Austrian DJ Ely Oaks. It was quickly followed by another which missed the cut off round but further releases have made no impression. A run of K-pop now; Twice managed two hits assisted by featuring on the soundtrack to Demon Hunters, the first of which was a needless cover version of one of the Huntr/x songs whose version was bigger albeit not allowed to chart. Two Blackpink members take the next positions, firstly Jennie with a self braggadocios hit and afterwards Jisoo who bagged Zayn for a collab, the star power of which took her a whopping one position higher than her one previous chart appearance. Mark Ronson and Raye who both recently performed at the Brits, albeit not together as this collab wasn't much of a hit - 'Suzanne' was a smaller teaser for Raye's forthcoming second album which was led by the much bigger 'Husband' soon after.

Thankfully we are now in 2026. Skye Newman proves to be the rare case of a new female breakthrough that Buzzjack really don't care for as her other entry in this doesn't perform a whole lot better. Speaking of which, the biggest breakthrough of the year in Olivia Dean places two entries here, firstly 'Dive' from her first album belatedly hitting and right above it one of her many album tracks that have had impressive post-release longevity though due to chart rules only 'A Couple Minutes' has had somewhat of a proper chart run of those. Justin Bieber attempted to bring back the term "swag" with his comeback album, it produced two hits of which one of them had his vocal heavily edited - 'Yukon' places fairly lowly here as such. Hozier covered the Arctic Monkeys mega-hit which was a former winner of this poll as it only peaked at #11 - this version had a brief boost of vitality many years after release but ultimately wasn't half as popular with us. Dave put out his third album which produced one proper hit - of the other two allowed to chart 'Chapter 16' just missed out on being 3 for 3 in the top 10 - being a 6 minute hook-less song it naturally had little longevity outside of week one. Sam Fender had another great year with 'Rein Me In' start its lengthy journey to the top of the chart. Meanwhile he had an Elton John collab as a promotional track for the album deluxe albeit the legend's contribution was limited to just assistance on the piano. Otherwise we have two rap tracks actually place well outside of the bottom ten for a change. Firstly from Lil Tecca who we may have written off as a one-hit wonder however five years on from his breakout he eventually had a second top 40 placement with 'Dark Thoughts'. The rapper of the moment towards the year's end was undeniably Esdeekid though time will tell if he's just a quick fad 'Phantom' was his breakthrough with two other hits quickly following, '4 Raws' of which will appear in the 2026 poll.

Central Cee and Sleepy Hallow have the joint honours of sharing bottom place with no points. It is not the first time Cench has had nil points off Buzzjack and the addition of Lil Dirk and a Ne-Yo sample clearly didn't help either. Meanwhile 'Anxiety' was a bit of a fluke hit as it only benefitted from the Doechii solo version having not yet been released after a snippet went viral, she would soon take it into the top three whilst this version quickly fell off. Christmas songs remain not so much popular here with two of them already dropping out. Firstly from Amazon Alexa whose American focused track was from Gwen Stefani. As ever no one actually cared for it although it was at least an original song. Spotify's exclusive from Laufey charted a third year as they don't rotate out as rapidly as Amazon, and this time actually making the top 20. Skye Newman broke through with 'Hairdresser' which sits between the two, she has now won the BBC Sound of 2026 poll so we may be hearing more from her in the year ahead. Ed Sheeran is still kicking about and had a handful of minor hits, the first of these is 'Camera'. Meanwhile one of America's biggest hits of the year was a breakthrough from Leon Thomas, it was not such a big hit here but still did respectably for R&B making the lowest end of the year end chart.
