The only reason you have one of the oldest drivers on the grid in the Red Bull second team is because there's a chance he'll soon be in the main team, and there was so much talk pre-season about whether Ricciardo would replace Perez. At the moment, Perez has done what Red Bull want him to do in 3 of 4 races, whilst all Ricciardo is doing is proving his McLaren form wasn't unlucky or unrepresentative.

Surprised to see my 14 points being the second lowest score for SOS. I find it one of their better songs TBH, just don't really care for them at all! A magnificent top 3, ranked them all in my top 10. Hopefully my 50 pointer wins :wub:

Luton haven't won in 9, Everton haven't won in 12 with another deduction likely, Forest have one win in 9. Burnley are now unbeaten in 4 and are only four points off safety, I don't see how anyone can say they're definitely gone. I think there's a high possibility of a Burnley vs Forest final day shootout to survive.

It's an excellent set of results so far, still have 10 of my top 14 remaining, with only 4 of my bottom 18 left! I think my faves which have gone so far (Hot Chip, Metallica, Dre) have done really well to finish so high. I enjoyed Fascination a lot for about 10 listens and now consider it super annoying and I'd never want to hear it. I suspect I'll be waiting a while for the last song here I genuinely dislike to appear.

The position he plays in has something to do with it. There's been so much moaning about Henderson and Phillips in the last 2 years, and Gallagher and Ward-Prowse hardly whet the appetite, that a new young midfielder gets all the attention!

The criticism of Southgate picking out of form players is so overblown though. Phillips and Maguire (and more latterly Henderson) have been picked so often despite not playing or playing poorly for clubs because they've consistently proven themselves for England and rarely perform poorly, and there being a complete lack of competition. If he doesn't pick them who was he going for? There have been calls for Dunk (not at the level), Tomori (poor whenever he gets a chance with England), Ward-Prowse (not at the level). There's been so few realistic options to take their positions. Southgate has proven with Sterling that when England performances and club ones drop no one's place is guaranteed. Phillips England performance had certainly dipped in the last year and his move to West Ham has gone worse than if he'd stayed on City's bench, I'd rank his chance of being in Germany as tiny. The rules are back down to 23 man squads, England are only ever going to play with one striker, and Kane will play 80%+ of minutes in a tournament. I just don't see how there can be room for three out and out centre forwards, especially when others in there have played centrally for their clubs (Rashford, Bowen, Palmer, Gordon). Toney was better last night than Watkins was against Brazil, and his pens edge it for me.

Phillips will be no where near the squad. I think there are about 13 players who's places are nailed on (if fit), and the other 10 come from about 17 players. Pickford, Ramsdale Walker, Trent, Shaw Maguire, Stones Rice, Bellingham Saka, Foden, Rashford Kane Johnstone or Pope Watkins or Toney 3 of Trippier, Chilwell, Gomez, Guehi, Konsa 2 of Henderson, Mainoo, Gallagher 3 of Maddison, Bowen, Palmer, Grealish, Gordon Dunk has played himself out of contention in these two games. I think Toney is probably above Watkins.

On the one hand it's easy to see why they've made that decision. Alex is 24-0 in qualifying and 27-1 in points vs. Logan. In a season which has started with a clear gap between 5th and 6th every possible point is huge for the bottom half, and Albon is way more likely to be maximising a chance of doing that, but on the other I don't see how this helps Sargent develop in anyway, really bad for confidence and shows they have no faith in him (I mean that isn't harsh, but why give him another year?)

It's a relief knowing what the punishment is, no worrying about what might be and 4 seems fair, hope there isn't an appeal, just accept and get on with it... Just got to outscore Luton with what should be a much more favourable set of fixtures left.

The data for polling said 70% of U35 voters were intending Labour with the other main 4 options in single figures including Conservatives on 7%! With the age at which switches are likely getting older, and the difference between the two becoming even more pronounced, the longer the government hold out calling an election, the worse it'll get for them. With people becoming of voting age and deaths, should quite easily have at least another 100,000+ swing in 6 months just through demography.

Alpine being quite that bad aside, that basically felt like a continuation of last season. Sauber's + Sargent in Q1, Stroll failing to make Q3 as his teammate breezes through, Hulk being the best non-top 5 qualifier, Leclerc being Max's closest challenger, Perez being a way off hi and a few positions down the grid...

There's just no real satisfactory time to put in place a punishment for FFP. The only 'fair' time to put a punishment in place is for the season in which the rules were broken, but it isn't possible to retrospectively add punishments and change the outcomes of leagues, especially if it were to involve a relegation. Everton and Forest have been charged for their accounts to the end of last season, they finished 16th and 17th and the points deduction that could be applied may well be a higher number than the points gaps they had to 18th and 19th placed teams Leeds and Leicester. If anyone has a cause to complain it's those two who were relegated at the expense of teams who broke the rules, but accounts aren't due to be published until the end of December, by which time you can only make changes to either the current or the next season. If Forest were to be deducted 6 points, but it weren't put in place until next season so they started from -6, I'm sure there'd be a fuss kicked up when they're only 4 points above Luton. And unfortunately there are way too many arguments and mitigations that you'd never be able to apply a punishment as soon as accounts were submitted. Take the Forest one at the moment, had they sold Brennan Johnson to Brentford for £30m in June they'd never have been charged, yet waiting and selling him for £47.5m in August now fails the PL's 'profit and sustainability' measures despite being far better to the club's sustainability, so will be arguing mitigation for a lighter punishment than if there were a rule to say 'if you go X over, you'll receive Y deduction'

I'd assumed Daysleeper would be another of those R.E.M. songs where I was familiar with but didn't know from the title like The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight, but can't say I've ever heard it before and wasn't overly enamoured from one listen. Unlike the other semi I did check out the ones I didn't immediately know, and put titles to songs for Reward and Gloria.

The punishments are all for FFP charges, so can't be made until accounts are submitted and evaluated! It'd be impossible to not have them awarded mid-season.
