I agree the chart has been slow moving a lot of the year and plenty more songs ideally would have broken through, but I think it’s been a very strong year for the hit singles that have been around. Proper breakthrough for Sabrina, lots of new stars with multiple hits (Chappell, Myles, Teddy, Gracie, Benson etc.) Buzzjack is a great community but a strange place at times with the hate certain artists get.

Which “normal” songs do people think are going to hang around when the full Christmas takeover hits? Last year it was Stick Season, Greedy, Lovin on Me, Prada and a couple of others. Not looked at the ACR status of tracks recently but imagine Gracie, Gigi, Bruno/Rose, Teddy and Sabrina’s Bed Chem are most likely, maybe Adam Port as well

I’m the opposite, I don’t get the Teddy Swims hate at least on here

Hoping Sabrina gets her final week at number 1, then Bruno/Gaga takeover, and then Sailor Song and Gracie both get a chance

Probably true, my argument is that with how slow the chart is anyway it wouldn’t take much with the significant drops to mention it. Something dropping after hovering around number 10 down to number 30 is not that notable, it used to be the norm, but number 2 to number 15 after that length of time does need explaining.

Why is Jack sounding shocked that GLB has fallen - surely someday the audience needs ACR explaining to them! It’s been around 7 years now!

But surely that shows their popularity - people were preordering so they got to see them live! I’ve never understood the Coldplay hate, they are one of our most successful acts and can still score hits when most acts from when they debuted are purely album acts if that!

You don’t have to preorder the album to get the presale as far as I know, you could do No Purchase Necessary so for me those are still impressive figures regardless

Been thinking this week, I wonder which songs from 2023 are going to have an extended top 40 run into next year. This year we’ve had Calm Down, Anti-Hero, As It Was etc. which hung around for a long time for numerous reasons (indeed Calm Down is currently number 40!) Guess some released in the next month or so before the Christmas takeover, but wonder if how ACR is generally working at the moment the chart is starting to speed up and songs which would have had 20 week runs are now exiting earlier.

Getting very bored of Buzzjack's hate for Ed, Lewis and other male artists but maybe I'm still relatively new and its been going on for years? Just appreciate music, I enjoy everything from Dua Lipa to Drake.
