Gezza, thanks for this countdown, it's extremely interesting however I'm still a bit confused by a couple of things within it. For certain years, some acts with lower sales than other acts in that year have ended up higher than acts with higher sales for that year. For example, Anastacia has ended up higher than the Scissor Sisters, Keane and Maroon 5 for 2004 despite having lower overall sales for 2004 than the other acts.

Changes in peak position in the top 40 due to streaming
I'm surprised to not see Animals and Take Me To Church gain places from streaming despite both featuring just outside the spotify top 10 for a couple of weeks now

I have a up to date ytd top 10 for the usa thanks to information from the twitter account @chartnews that I follow: 1) Somebody That I Used To Know 4.97 million 2) We Are Young 4.836 million 3) Call Me Maybe 3.281 million 4) Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) 3.201 million 5) Starships 2.852 million 6) Glad You Came 2.765 million 7) What Makes You Beautiful 2.586 million 8) Wild Ones 2.54 million 9) Set Fire To The Rain 2.465 million 10) Payphone 2.442 million I would recommend following @chartnews if you have twitter as it is fantastic for sales figures in the US and does do worldwide sales as well
