"SAWDUST" new album, released 12/11/07!!
The Killers collect B-sides and rarities for next album Sawdust out Nov 12 2007 (UK) The Killers are hard at work collecting B-sides, rarities and one-off sides for a compilation album to be released later this year, entitled Sawdust, out November 12th on CD, download and limited edition double gatefold vinyl. The band is hunkered down at a recording studio in New York's Hell's Kitchen, completing the album with the legendary Lou Reed. Brandon told Billboard.com that "we have about fifteen of these songs that people have never heard, and we wanted to stick them on something for people to get to have them all together." The album will include both tracks that have previously been available as b-sides and brand new never before heard songs including "All the Pretty Faces" (which was the B-side of "When You Were Young"); two movie soundtrack tunes, "Shadowplay" (a Joy Division cover, from Control, Anton Corbijn's biopic of Ian Curtis) and "Move Away" (from Spiderman 3); as well as a cover of Kenny Rogers & the First Edition's "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town" (taken from a 2005 Radio 1 Zane Lowe session). The collection will also contain songs which weren't complete for Sam's Town which the band recently went back into the studio to finish off. We'll have news of two very special single releases very shortly... source: mailing list email. ---------------- can't wait for this!!!!!!!! :w00t:

Killers Talk About Two New LPs, Duet With Lou Reed
Lou Reed to sing on a track http://www.nme.com/news/the-killers/30721 News: Lou Reed to sing on a track set to appear on the Las Vegas band's forthcoming B-sides and rarities album The Killers have recruited Lou Reed to sing on a track set to appear on the Las Vegas band's forthcoming B-sides and rarities album. Frontman Brandon Flowers exclusively told NME.COM that they've been hard at work in a New York studio this week recording 'Tranquilize' with 'Sam's Town' producers Flood and Alan Moulder. "We were thrilled with being able to work with Lou Reed," Flowers said of the former Velvet Underground singer and rock elder statesman. "The song was calling for a duet and his voice was just right. The sentiment of the song is very him," Flowers said. Describing 'Tranquilize' as a "rollercoaster", he added, "There's a desperation to it. It's one of our more depressing songs, but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel." Flowers explained that although the song will be part of a B-sides compilation, he believes it's one of the band's strongest tracks. "It's a song that really should've been on 'Sam's Town'," he said. The compilation is due out before the end of the year, and will feature material that may be new to many US listeners. "A lot of our American fans may not even know about these songs because they're B-sides to singles in England," he said. Flowers explained that the idea for the compilation was inspired by two of his favourite bands that did something similar. "I'm a big fan of 'The Masterplan' by Oasis and 'Hatful Of Hollow' by The Smiths. It's for our fans who want the whole collection in one package." ----------- exciting news
