haha agree. I really the production but NOT the song it's sampling/re-doing/interpreting or whatever. OG is still tired, stale. Not the kind of song that was a big-huge hit back in the day yet obscure enough to warrant a 'fresh take' (like 'Higher Love' which was fresh, unique, stellar). This is more like his re-working 'Hot Stuff' lol & some of his others that fell flat. Nothing really special or next level about this.

Ya, Dua highly, highly likely won't even be top 3 by Friday :( Song itself isn't objectively 'bad' & vocally etc...more catchy than Houdini but out of ANY new song of hers there's been NO replay for TS for me. Don't care for the production. It's kind of hollow and incohesive. Like it's been out for months & don't even think about it since I listened to it a couple x. All feels so non eventful. The entire era has had one of the worst executions for a follow up album I could think of (after previously super massive era). Still def. prefer Houdini. Wasn't instant but w/ most of her songs there's something...a vibe about them (it's when not if) it HITS. Was also the case w/ Dance The Night. Dunno how her team salvages this. STILL no album title, release date etc...Clunky ah Lol

Geez...wish there was some sales info showing the difference between #10 and #11. Hopefully The Wkd/Madonna *finally have THIS! When on earth is Cruel Summer going ACR already?! lol

MODF for me is absolutely one of the best pop/dance/disco low burn songs of the last 20+ years. Adored it then and every bit now. Similar to Levitating by Dua. Flawless, very unique and multilayered. All those dance hits/smashes by Britney, Gaga etc...are just simply tired, dated or whatever from being played so much. This is a 'Sprinter' like situation. Basically ANY other regular week Sophie would effortlessly get a multi week #1 peak!! Reeally hoping her team is about to go full Kate Bush or Kylie etc...and pull out ALL the stops to squeak in at least that ONE week at #1?? Ariana's song is terrible! lol. Tried 2x and it's just unlistenable. Leave it at that. ESP after a 3 year wait & basically at her peak. And...this is what her team decided to pump out? Sorry not sorry.
  5. Much as I hate #2s and #11s lol ESP when it's a lead single & from someone like Dua ya, if she debuted at #3 (much as it's less of a momentary eye sore and very respectable) still a lower debut/peak any way you cut it. I normally don't at all care for someone like Jack, that genre etc...He's Bieber, Timberlake etc.. & the song absolutely would've= smashed if they had the same song. Likely won't be remembered as non throwaway, impactful classic in 6+ months lol BUT objectively, ya, it IS def instant & catchy ah. Opposite of Houdini in every possible way- watered down production but very simple & effective, lyrics, flow etc... Houdini *not at all 'bad' already feels pretty meh/stale, like it's been out for months and lacks something. That something I feel didn't get it to #1 w/ ease. Jack's song by default is simply a bit more infectious & GP friendly.

Exactly how long have Dua's physicals been available esp. for pre order prior to the GP hearing the full song last Thurs.?
  7. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
How far behind is Prada from #2? Ya, wouldn't at all be surprised Dua still ends up #3. Actually prefer it tbh. #2 is such an eye sore ESP after what happened w/ DSN and the fact Houdini is also a lead.
  8. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Really want Dua #1 but this ain't it.lol Sorry not sorry. Love her but unlike most of her other mega hits (major growers/longevity) I'm basically burnt on Houdini. Feels like it's been out for months. Prada likely ends up taking over #3 by mid week. PLZ let Training Season be IT. Luckily, Houdini is just 'there'. Not at all a momentum killer.

This. And that's all I was saying esp. when comparing it to 'Take My Breath'. That song also had a similar heavy, slick production, drums etc...Teasers/snippets sounded waay better & more eventful then the actual song ended up. That's where the comparison ends. Houdini imo sounds like a great club only track (or even album track) but lacks the pop/dance crossover sound for the GP-ESP in non Euro markets. But it's NOT a dud/ bad song except for that outro (sorry, it's kind of cringe) lol. That said I'm a massive Dua fan and would lovve to end up *wrong w/ where this ends up on Friday!!
  10. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Like I said almost from the onset def vibing like a battle for #3 even more than #2 tbh. Don't think her physicals are gonna matter much, ultimately. Houdini is def. Take My Breaths 1st cousin. Both aren't 'bad' songs but offer really nothing new. + not enough true time to create the need or demand between songs. Nrmally not at all into Jacks kind of sound/genre but objectively it's waay more infectious & instant and GET why it's doing what Houdini isn't :-( DTN may have been a movie single but ended up *massive, played non stop & still a pretty recent smash. Because her songs served such longevity last album ya, feels like she maybe needed to wait another 6 months before anything new. Lovve Dua but this isnt it. Already burnt on it. I GET why the GP may agree.
  11. Yep I voted for Jack much as want Dua. :-/ Jack is def. vibing (& showing so far in the data). Love Dua but Houdini just keeps reminding me of 'Take My Breath'. Both songs aren't 'bad', heavily and slickly produced yet...missing something where it really counted and over compensating w/ the heavy production. But even the production imo still missed the opportunity to take it to a much higher level. At least something I personally connect with. DSN, Levitating etc...were all instant and effortless. Jack's song IS pretty basic lol & highly likely a throw away, forgettable song in x-amount of months but it HITS instantly and w/out much effort. It's almost the polar opposite of Houdini in every way but it works where Houdini just misses the mark but, again, NOT bad. Bottom line & possible prediction why do I have a feeling Dua may not even end up #2, ultimately!? Lol Have a feeling Greedy etc..may end up #2 w/ Dua #3.

    TY!!

Atp, is it looking like Dua has it next week?? Esp. if the song hits *hard like it's vibing it will from the brief snippets. Beatles song feels like 1 week thing. It's not at all bad but obv. its mostly frontloaded. More about who else is releasing that may be a threat?
  14. :o oh my. Yup, easily would've taken it last week. THX for sharing. Was waiting on the #s. Strong gut feeling (& heart palpitations most of the week hoping she would NOT release last minute against Dua lol). I very strongly felt she'd still beat her even w/ Dua's cassettes. Soo ALL worked out for the absolute best!
  15. But didn't DUA get it last week even w/out her physicals? It gave her extra peace of mind and icing but almost certain she had it just with streaming and the other non physical metrics anyway? Either way, loving this quick old school-ish turnover of high quality #1s!! Not looking forward to the opposite happening though Lol- some cr*p act w/ an utter cr*p song using physicals to get #1 (& block a high quality song) Seeing how effective it's been the last month! Lol. Not if but when.
  16. I thought Olivia pulled ahead as early as Tues. into Wed. by 5k (yes, with some? but don't think all her physicals). Question I 'think' is how many physicals did her team have stashed away OR did they get in for the last few days?
  17. YES OLIVIA!!! Whew. Like daymn DYING to know how close this got in the last few days!!
  18. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
THIS is exactly why Olivia's team did what/when they did this! Lol If Doja erupted to this degree even Sun./Mon. think she'd still bag #1 (maybe easily). Dunno if it's been confirmed whether or not the 5k lead Olivia had were ALL her physicals counted or just a portion? Tracking week isn't technically over yet until today so she still has time to bag up x-amount of physicals hopefully to offset Doja on every other metric. Still think Olivia pulls it out even if by the slimmest margin at the last minute.
  19. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Yeah, great points about maybe future regulations that no one can decide to just release *during a tracking week on the fly (when the label/ someone's team) already knows how many physicals are in the bank after a minimum of weeks (eg: 2-3+ weeks). What they should/could do dunno but ethically feels like something...a middle ground or whatever needs to happen. The dicey part is all about already knowing how many you have sold for an entire week(s) & being able to potentially (likely) use that as leverage if there's a week before 'official release date' that ends up weaker than expected. Looks like what happened here. Yes, Vampire has proven to be pretty massive, liked by most and solid top 2/top 5 for several weeks. But it's not if but when something that's total gunk and UNworthy weaponizes all this against a song that's as good AS Vampire (& robbing IT from #1) lol
  20. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
LOL. This. Preach. Sorry not sorry imo it's terrible! ONLY the Dionne intro=yes. Rest= steaming pile of NO.
  21. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
^ Ah....my bad. Didn't know it ended up 6.5k. No, not bad at all! Take it that's the total of 1 week of cassettes & 2 weeks of CDs. Wasn't 100%. Def true about Billie/Olivia being more 'concentrated' or whatever.. Long as Olivia is a lock & no last minute upsets soo can't wait to hear it announced on Fri!!
  22. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
*Fully agree w/ those in the camp of while we/I DEF. prefer Vampire (masterpiece now imo) over the Doja song...I mean significantly lol this still feels icky, shady and like a desperate(ish) cheap move. Just on a totally objective level. Yeah, they highly likely didn't do it last week because of expectations of Dua's physicals. At the min. was a a def. deterrent. Yet, ironically, she underperformed w/ them esp cassettes! Lol BUT Olivia's has had a good few weeks now to accumulate a bunch while Billie and Dua were 'limited time'. Soo...any singer (even your fav.) if they set a specific date many weeks in advance to release 'abruptly decide' (during a random slower week than expected week) to just freely release/switch the date, it doesn't feel right. I know it's the record biz but come on. lol Ya, if the OCC is cracking down on friggin signed/autographs they ESP. shouldn't allow original concrete dates to get moved up to 'whenever'. Must be some kind of regulation for that. If not, a bunch of others gonna see it worked so why not?
  23. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Fully agree. Odd...all of it. lol The timing of release just as Vampire was really blowing up. Don't think it's 'bad' tho personally I find it flat and like Good For You 2.0 (upbeat pop/rock) attempt but missed the mark. I've read mixed reviews/feedback. Some love it and about others not so much. Not a momentum killer. Just there. But more about the execution and how it's being promoted. Is it a 'buzz' single to keep things moving or official 2nd single?! Lol The concrete confirmation is odd. Reeks from they were caught a bit off guard w/ Vampire get these 2nd and 3rd winds so to be safe put this out there but didn't wanna go all out calling it the 2nd official single in case it flopped/under performed? lol Personally, IF it was gonna be this song or whatever, think they should've waited a bit longer. Just an unnecessary & premature release (buzz single or not).

Oomg just seeing now what Olivia and her team did! :o LOL 2-3+ weeks ago soo would've believed they would've done it (if not 2 weeks ago) DEF last week to duke it out w/ Dua! Ya, they likely doing this for a very specific reason(s) based on whatever data they have. Esp w/ what is likely coming or the state of things 9/8 (vs this week). ALL in for that 1 week #1 for Olivia. Completes the super worthy trio of quality, beloved songs over the summer (DTN. Billie, and Vampire). Loving Vampire more than ever. Doja...meh.
  25. JK1 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
PLZ just let Doja be #1 for 2 weeks max. then Olivia. Not.getting.it. at ALL lol Can't get through it except the scratching record of divine Dionne at the beginning. Song isn't better or worse than 9/10 or whatever of US centric rap pop created by a corporate kit lol. But didn't at all connect or get Sprinter too so...ya it could happen w/ this Doja song (geezus). lol
