Papa Don't Preach ● 35 years on
Such a perfect M song and video - I love this song and this era, every single released from True Blue is a 10 - I don't think she's ever had an album where the singles were so consistently good and such big hits - all classics.

your Madonna top 3?
1. Erotica - You Thrill Me - live 2005 Confessions Tour 2. Waiting 3. La Isla Bonita or Into The Groove or Jump or Get Together - I just cannot choose.

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2021
Um, no it's not a decent pop song - Embers is a shockingly poor song, that goes nowhere, isn't instantly accessible, and is forgettable...and James was a terrible performer; for me, it was the worst song on the night and the worst performance too - and around 182 million people agree! I also disagree that it's better than most of the songs sent in the 2010s - not only is it the poorest performing, but it's also the worst for me. Just dreadful.

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2021
In a football tournament, like the World Cup, if England were to not score a single goal and get knocked out in the early stages, there would uproar, and the Manager would be held accountable and fired - so I'm hoping that the fools at the BBC who decided on this song, artist and performance, are fired and moved on - they are not fit for purpose. The song, the performance, and the artist were deserving of last place, it was bloody awful, dire in fact (and the worst performance for the UK since 2003), and the second back-to-back year we came last. So who were the people responsible for this fiasco, and how can we make sure for 2022 they don't have decision-making responsibilities for next year? We need a new team, and a new start otherwise what's the point?

Eurovision Song Contest 2021 · Semi Final Two
Pretty decent semi 2 - I was quite sad that Austria didn't make it through and also Denmark. Am I the only one who doesn't care for Scott Mills and the 'Eurovision expert' they had, who didn't seem to have a clue?!!

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2021
2/10 for me. Great voice but the song doesn't go anywhere, and for me is horribly mediocre and forgettable. Last year was a better song.

Friday Chart Predictions
Young man doesn't realise that before he knows it, he too will be an old man saying the exact same thing.... Aside from the patronising undertone, there will always be music charts, they will evolve and their relevancy will ebb and flow, this much I've learnt so far in my 35 years.

Madonna #2s Survivor ~ FINAL
Live To Tell is my winner, but with the two left, Ray of Light is my favorite.

Madonna #2s Survivor ~ ROUND 13
I'm mildly annoyed that Frozen may win this (I know the category is UK or USA) #2's, but Frozen is a UK#1 and it would be a shame on a UK forum for a UK#1 to beat other genuine UK#2 tracks.... She's had enough UK#2 hits to be able to just do it for the UK alone....

One More Chance ● 25 years on
For me, it always felt unfinished' but her vocal is lovely on it. I much prefer it to 'I Want You', but neither tracks are a patch on 'You'll See'....

'Hard Candy' • album discussion
As many have already mentioned, coming hot off the back of Confessions, I expected and hoped for so much. I was disappointed. The Hard Candy album cover is her worst ever, it just looks wretched; part Reader's Wife and part Kathy Beale. It's overproduced and just doesn't feel like an authentic Madonna album for me. As per her latter albums, post-2005, it feels rushed. There are lots of filler tracks, and the sound of the album doesn't work for me (or for her). Jumping on the Timbaland bandwagon was not a good career move; it was the start of M not being in front of the curve, but following it, and too late. Yes, 4 Minutes gave her 4 weeks @ #1, but it's a little sad for me, that this will likely be her last UK #1 single. As always, the ballads save it for me but Give It 2 Me is a highlight. 1. Miles Away 2. Give It 2 Me 3. Beat Goes On (feat. Kanye West). 4 Devil Wouldn't Recognise You 5. Heartbeat 6 Incredible 7. Dance 2night 8. 4 Minutes 9. She's Not Me 10. Voices 11. Candy Shop 12. Ring My Bell 13. Spanish Lesson

Madonna #2s Survivor ~ ROUND 10
I voted for Ray of Light to go, only because of the songs left, it's my least favorite left, but it's still a bloody good track. Sad that Holiday went; because it's such a classic, and is the only M song to hit the top 10 on 3 different occasions.

'I'm Breathless' • album discussion
God, I love this album. I've also read so many times, that this is one of M's favorites too. It's just so much fun, her singing is strong and the Sondheim songs are sublime. It's smoldering, coquettish, and evokes great memories. My favorite tracks in order are: 1. Vogue 2. Back In Business 3. Sooner or Later 4. He's A Man 5. More 6. Cry Baby 7. Now I'm Following You (Part 1) 8. Something To Remember 9. Hanky Panky 10. What Can You Lose 11. Now I'm Following You (Pt. 2) 12. I'm Going Bananas

Your Thoughts On The Films?
Dangerous Game is worth a watch; aside from Evita, for me, it's her best acting performance.

'MDNA' • album discussion
Ok, I'm working my way through this forum and have loved everybody's comments on M's albums. I'm now on MDNA, which again is a very patchy album for me, some really brilliant tracks and some really disappointing, lame ones too. With the release of MDNA, I started to have my doubts that M would deliver a coherent album ever again. I still have those doubts sadly. When I heard she was working with William Orbit again on this album, I rejoiced, alas the album for me isn't a career-best, like Hard Candy, it just doesn't feel finished or representative of M. William Orbit later said that Madonna didn't allow enough time to get this done properly, and that's how it feels for me. It feels like a manufactured album, written and recorded in a short space of time, with lots of producers/writers, etc, and is in the main, missing the magic. 1. Falling Free 2. Girl Gone Wild 3. I F***ed Up 4. Love Spent 5. Turn Up The Radio 6. Gang Bang 7. Beautiful Killer 8. I'm Addicted 9. Best Friend 10. Masterpiece 11. Some Girls 12. Give Me All Your Luvin' (feat. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A.) 13. I Don't Give A (feat. Nicki Minaj) 14. I'm A Sinner 15. Superstar 16. B-Day Song

'Bedtime Stories' • album discussion
Bedtime Stories... where to begin? For me, it was her first so-so album. Coming on the back of Erotica (which is arguably my favorite M album ever), this just feels over-produced, safe, and for me, very dated now. It feels like a reaction to Erotica, and not a good one. For me, its saving grace was always its ballads, most of which are still sublime. I don't the R&B faux vibe, and I don't love the mid-tempo soul tracks, they just don't have any sophistication about them. However in amongst the dross, we have Bedtime Story, Sanctuary and Love Tried To Welcome me, hinting that the album could have gone a whole different way - and been so much better. I still can't believe that Take A Bow performed so badly in the U.K (it just got lost in the Christmas melee), and I remember being really shocked when it missed the top 10, which was a big deal back then, considering the record-breaking run of Top 10 singles. Ranked in order for me: 1 Sanctuary 2 Loved Tried To Welcome Me 3 Forbidden Love 4 Bedtime Story 5 Inside Of Me 6 Secret 7 Take A Bow 8 Don't Stop 9 Human Nature 10 I'd Rather be Your Lover 11 Survival

'Music' • album discussion
My thoughts on 'Music' are pretty straight-forward; a pretty decent follow-up to Ray of Light, lighter, more fun (love Mirawais) but with some sublime tracks on it too, and the ballads are untouchable. Happy Memories for me associated with this project; I got to see the promo @ Brixton Academy and I met M for the first time at The Next Best Thing aftershow party, so I'm really fond of this era - the only downside I associate with it, is her marriage to Guy - it always seemed that he dimmed her light. Impressive Instant would have been a brilliant single - M wanted it, but WEA (yet again, got it wrong) and it was sadly never a single. Love it though. My fav tracks in order are: 1. Don’t Tell Me 2. Gone 3. I Deserve It 4. Impressive Instant 5. Paradise Not For Me 6. Runaway Lover 7. Nobody's Perfect 8. Music 9. Amazing 10. What It Feels Like For A Girl 11. American Pie

I know right?!!! I just don't love LAP like everyone else. And I really like her raw vocal at the end of Love Song....

'Madonna' • album discussion
Madonna - The first album still rocks for me. I love it; I love the original album artwork and the songs are so NYC and of their time, and most still stand up really well; far, far better than newer albums. I put 'Think of Me' on in a crowded gym a few years back, and everybody loved it. I love M from this era, hungry, defiant, and ready to take on the World.... 1. Physical Attraction 2. Holiday 3. Borderline 4. I Know It 5. Think Of Me 6. Lucky Star 7. Burning Up 8. Everybody

'Like A Virgin' • album discussion
Just a sublime album, full of perfect pop songs. A lot of these songs are nearly 40 years old, but I still listen to many of them. Not my favorite M album, but some of the tracks on here are just sublime. 1. Stay ( I love the '81 version from Pre-Madonna much much better) 2. Shoo-Bee-Doo 3. Angel 4. Over And Over 5. Love Don't Live Here Anymore 6. Pretender 7. Dress You Up 8. Like A Virgin 9. Material Girl

'Madame X' • album discussion
Where to begin with this album? So much to love so much to just say meh to....I was so excited for this era, looking forward to the World Music vibes that were coming from the recording sessions. I loved Medellin (but the video was such a missed opportunity). The album promo was just awful, culminating in the disaster of Eurovision. Some great tracks though, and ranking this album is pretty easy for me. 1. Medellín (with Maluma) 2. God Control 3. Come Alive 4. Crazy 5. Looking For Mercy 6. I Don't Search I Find 7. Crave 8. Dark Ballet 9. Killers Who Are Partying 10.Batuka 11.Ciao Bella 12.Extreme Occident Sadly, I don't like the below tracks at all... and skip them. 13. Funana 14. Back That Up to the Beat 15. Future (with Quavo) 16. I Rise 17. Faz Gostoso (featuring Anitta) 18. Bitch I'm Loca (with Maluma)

'Confessions On A Dancefloor' • album discussion • continuous mix vinyl release
For me, her last near-perfect album, containing two of my favorite M songs ever; Get Together and Jump. I loved this era; the looks, the Hung-Up video, the tour, and the music. Stuart Price is a genius and I'm sad she's not really worked with him again. 1. Get Together 2. Jump 3. Future Lovers 4. Hung Up 5. Forbidden Love 6. Isaac 7. Push 8. How High 9. I Love New York 10 Let It Will Be 11.Sorry 12 Like It or Not

Possibly my favorite Madonna album ever, certainly top three. Raw, lyrically brilliant, jazzy, and just so personal. Love, love, love. And I loved her working with Shep. I also love that this album is so often overlooked by so many. 1. Waiting 2. Where Life Begins 3. Erotica 4. In This Life 5. Thief of Hearts 6. Why's it so Hard 7. Secret Garden 8. Bad Girl 9. Deeper And Deeper 10. Bye Bye Baby 11.Rain 12. Words 13. Did You Do It? 14. Fever

'True Blue' • album discussion
Such a brilliant pop album (and surely the greatest of Madonna's album covers) - this was the album that I first heard when I was a little boy. The love I have for La Isla never really went away. My top 5 are near-perfect pop songs... 1. La Isla Bonita 2. Live To Tell 3. Papa Don't Preach 4. True Blue 5 Open Your Heart 6. Jimmy Jimmy 7. Love Makes The World Go Round 8 Where's The Party 9 White Heat
