  1. Ah right, OK. Perhaps I was getting confused between the two tracks.
  2. I voted 3, those two and A N Other yet to be released.
  3. Indeed. I always think of 'Moves Like Jagger' it was released at the end of August and didn't quite make the million by the end of the year. So realistically speaking you're talking anything beyond September probably wouldn't make it unless we had another 'Get Lucky' type monster hit.
  4. Col1967 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
    Now 5 for me.
  5. I really like Blurred Lines. It's very 'quirky'. It's insanely catchy, that said if it became overplayed I reckon it could get rather irritating.
  6. That was a bit early, even for me. I'm very much a morning person though. There's a lot going on at work at the moment and I like to get in early to keep on top of things. Thing is with MLJ, it's a fantastic pop song but that's it. There's nothing particularly innovative let alone groundbreaking about it. Somebody I used to Know is not only excellent but it's very different, there's nothing quite like it and that's why it ultimately won over MLJ.
  7. It was a tough choice between Moves Like Jagger & Somebody I Used to Know, but Gotye just shaded it.
  8. iTunes no.1 a certainty then. The way this is moving I wonder if it will dislodge those silly punks from no.1 on the official chart as well. I know 'Get Lucky' will get a boost from the album release but will it be enough?
  9. Do people seriously still record tracks off the radio? That's like me in 1980!
  10. It would make them sell more as there would always be people who investigated the track once it made the top 10, found they liked it and bought it, compared to not making the top 10 and them not being made aware of it.
  11. True, but then there is the iTunes 'top 10 effect' whereby those tracks are given a higher profile.
  12. Same age bracket as you!
  13. Ferguson effect: 1485. Aberdeen F. C. Squad - European Song
  14. Quite :) It's not just you, sometimes it works first time, but usually it takes quite a few refreshes to persuade it to load properly. It may well cheerfully say on the page that if it doesn't load properly just hit reload, so they are obviously aware of the problem, but that's been there for a while, are they doing anything about it?
  15. Chris Malinchak looks like putting two versions into the iTunes top 10. Has this ever happened before, must be pretty rare if it has.
  16. That's quite a prediction, given it would need around 1.5m sales to do that. But who knows? This track has constantly surpassed expectations. Remember after those first two days when it entered at no.3 people thought that it was just a fanbase buy and it would never sustain itself to be no.1 the following week? That seemed reasonable at the time. And who would have thought it would get anywhere near the 155k it sold in that first full week the following week, as it looks likely to do.
  17. I took that comment as a joke to be honest.
  18. 'Ding Dong' now out of the top 1500. It was in the 500s when I checked yesterday. Will be a catastrophic fall from no.2 that's for sure!
  19. 'Killing in the Name' fell from 2-40 though of course that was a no.1 single. 'Raving I'm Raving by' Shut up and Dance fell 2-15 though even that was due to copyright issues that meant it had to be withdrawn from sale. I don't actually think 'Ding Dong' will fall from the top 40 though. The 'funeral effect' will stabilise it or at least arrest it's decline.
  20. It won't be done like that. The intention is to play the 4-5 second clip in the context of a news story earlier in the show, which explains why the song will appear in the chart. Then they will just announce it at whatever position it ends up in and not play it at all at that point.
  21. Correct. Yesterday the track was stabilising on Kworb. Today was the first day this got properly beyond internet sites & forums and into the mainstream media, i.e. TV & newspapers. On the BBC news it was considered second in importance only to North Korea starting a nuclear war FFS! And look what happens, the track surges in popularity.
  22. I think the 'Ding Dong' campaign is highly tasteless but there is no way I'm going to download a track called "I'm in Love with Margaret Thatcher"! How about DDTWID for no.1 this week and IILWMT no.1 next week for the funeral? Sounds insane of course but I'd have said the same just a few days ago about DDTWID being comfortably at no.1 on iTunes by this time......
  23. Or end up satisying neither? They'll be protests from one side that it will be acknowledged at all, and protests from the other that it won't be played in full. It's a 'fudge' basically. They should either play it because it's in the charts and that's what the chart show does, or refuse to play it as many people find it in poor taste, just as they do with tracks with offensive lyrics.
  24. That's a bit of a jump compared to it's progress earlier today. It's not even as if Duke Dumont has taken a hit, looking at the figues for the rest of the top 5.
  25. Well there's a far more positive 'death effect' track that will quite likely be hitting the charts in the next few years. Donate the proceeds to an African AIDS charity or something and you'd probably be looking at a no.1.
