There's nothing that spices up a party or just an evening of celebrating life like some hot salsa on the sound system. There's so much good salsa available that picking just ten albums can be a challenge.
This year the charge to salsa is dominated by Puerto Rican artists - but who can complain with such a wonderful selection to pick from?
1) Victor Manuelle - Decision Unanime
http://images.buymusichere.net/images/muze/840/840738.jpg
Even though Victor Manuelle didn't get his Latin grammy (Gilberto Santa Rosa's Directo Al Corazon won), vote was for Manuelle's exceptional Decision Unanime.
2) El Gran Combo / Gilberto Santa Rosa - Asi Es Nuestra Navidad
http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeAudioArt/600/605211.jpg
Puerto Rico's El Gran Combo is the called the "University of Salsa" because so many great salseros got their start with the group. Gilberto Santa Rosa was one of the many El Gran Combo graduates. Asi Es Nuestra Navidad brings them together again and the big winner is the listener.
3) Oscar D'Leon - Fuzionando
http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeAudioArt/890/892419.jpg
Venezuelan Oscar d'Leon is one of the most exciting and popular salseros in the world. Fuzionando will have you and your friends dancing 'til there's holes in your salsa shoes.
4) India - Soy Diferente

La India is back in great vocal form with an album sure to please her long awaiting fans, salsa aficionados and almost anyone who needs a lift after a gray so-so day.
5) Charlie Cruz - Mas De Mi
http://images.buymusichere.net/images/muze/670/679224.jpg
Puerto Rican Charlie Cruz is comparatively new to the salsa scene, but if he keeps making great salsa albums like Mas De Mi, the salsa world will soon be singing his praises.
6) Andy Montanez - Salsa Con Reggaeton
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/515AXGAFABL._AA240_.jpg
If you think salsa and reggaeton don't go together, Andy Montanez begs to differ with an album bursting with sound. He gets a little help from Daddy Yankee, Voltio from the reggaeton side while n'klabe helps kick up the salsa.
7) Tito Nieves - Hoy, Manana Y Siempre
http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/Sources/AMGCOVERS/music/cover200/drh100/h112/h11236twjlu.jpg
Tito Nieves is one of favorites and he brings his dynamic voice and sterling salsa stylings to this years Hoy, Manana y Siempre.
8) Son De Cali - Cambiando La Historia
http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/Sources/AMGCOVERS/music/cover200/drh400/h447/h44785lsvew.jpg
If you've been ignoring Colombian salsa, you're making a mistake, because some of the best salsa in the world is coming from Colombia. Son De Cali was formed by two ex-Grupo Niche artists. Their last album was a little bit of a disappointment, byt Cambiando La Historia makes up for it.
9) Gilberto Santa Rosa - Directo Al Corazon
http://z.about.com/d/latinmusic/1/0/i/0/-/-/Directo_Al_Corazon-175x167.jpg
Directo Al Corazon was the 2006 Latin Grammy winner for salsa album of the year. It's a little bit too pop for my taste, but when Gilberto starts hitting the salsa, it rocks.
10) Tiempo Libre - Lo Que Esperabas
http://www.salsapower.com/cdreviews/cd_images/tiempo_libre_esperabas.jpg
Tiempo Libre is a Miami-based Cuban timba group and their album, which translates to What You've Been Waiting For is sheer energy and a little change of pace.

Daddy Yankee News: New Album, Puerto Rican Day Parade
http://u.univision.com/contentroot/uol/art/images/musica/2007/04/040507_Daddy_3.jpg
Daddy Yankee's been busy. His new album The Cartel: The Big Boss is due out next month and will feature a large slate of guest artists including
Fergie, Jim Jones, The Pussycat Dolls, Akon and the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.am. Talking about the album, the Puerto Rican superstar says he feels that reggaeton needs to expand as a genre, so the music on the new CD will be more diverse than in the past.
Daddy Yankee, who's real name is Ramon Ayala, is not resting on his musical laurels. He's also leading a school cleaning and beautification project in his native Puerto Rico as well as acting as the spokesperson to the U.S. Hispanic community for the American Red Cross. He's also planning on launching his own charitable foundataion this year - Fundacion Corazon Guerrero.
New Yorkers will have a chance to see him next month in the Puerto Rican Day Parade on June 10th. He'll be riding aboard MTV Tr3's float which isn't surprising as MTV Tr3 is featuring Daddy Yankee as artist of the month.
