Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Awww I would have given Marc Almond more points. Even outside of Soft Cell he's done loads of great stuff - and I saw him in Pizza Express once! :P Lol, myself and Jade only giving Mike Oldfield points. Do love a bit of 'Tubular Bells'.

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
I definitely would have given DJ Shadow some points too if I remembered him. Shakin' Stevens music is tacky but fun, although 'Merry Christmas Everyone' is really strong for a Christmas classic.

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
The Media in the UK is for the most part client journalism (and that's putting it politely, a lot of the papers are Far Right Filth now) employed by and therefore biased towards the whims and wishes of the wealthiest 1% in society who can therefore increase profits and strip our countries assets as much as they like. Focus on immigration and that nonsensical Rwanda scheme is a great distraction, plus the fact so many are non white will please the racists too.

2023 year to date estimates
Shame that 'What I Was Made For?' not going to make EOY top 40 but great that the similar style 'Ceilings' will hang on especially as it's very much been out of the weekly top 100 for months.

US Hot 100 – 12/02/2023
Wham in the UK, Brenda in the USA. Can we now start calling it "All I Want for Flopmas' yet?

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
There's surprisingly few stars who have appeared who I would have given points to but Travis Scott would have done - just love his ambient/prog rock style like in 'The Scotts' and 'Highest in the Room'. 'Let Me Down Slowly' is a beautiful lament. Shame it wasn't bigger than it was.

UK Singles Chart without Christmas songs (2023 version)
Yikes Kanye would be pushing top 20 without Christmas - worrying thought.

Lewis Capaldi with a new album out this year only 27th most streamed UK artist is poor....mind you his singles have been!

The UK and transphobia
I'm wondering whether all this publicity over Brianna's murder may actually create more sympathy and understanding of trans people ith the general public than the other way round. Out of something so horrible maybe there can be some good.

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Alexandra Burke can actually take credit for making another legendary male artist appearance here, a bit later on in this countdown! B-)

The UK and transphobia
They seem to be a truly evil couple of children. I'm guessing they just love the idea of killing like a young Fred and Rose West.

The Middle East Today
It's been extended by 2 days although even if no more Israeli attacks were done the horrific loss of life and carnage in Gaza is just a tragedy. There was a big 'March Against Anti Semetism' yesterday which in reality for the most part was an Israel propaganda rally with lots of Israeli flags. There's no acknowledgement of the huge loss of Palestinian life, rightly condemned by the UN and most NGOs as textbook genocide by the Campaign against Anti Semetism, the head of the Holocaust education Trust, most of our front bench politicians on both sides and most of our ghastly media. I feel like I'm living in a horrible world where the highest people in our society blatantly ignore elephants in room (see also Climate Emergency)

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Oh I was being a bit flippant - just thought it was genuinely funny that Sir Cliff with his 60977 hits over 7 decades or whatever was being ranked by a guy with an ahem dubious name whose song does sound very novelty. I don't rank Cliff at all - and huge kudos to Scatman John RIP for what he did!

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Think we have very similar music tastes! Tricky's debut 'Maxinquaye', with wonderful vocals by Martine Topley Bird, is a fantastic listen and more accessible than his follow ups. Do love later singled 'Christiansands' and 'Broken Homes' (featuring PJ Harvey) too. He can make any track he appears on very eerie with his tone of voice. Agree that Zach Bryan is a revelation based on 'Orange' and 'I Remember Everything' and I normally have a visceral hatred for country

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
I actually prefer Paul Weller's stuff with The Style Council and The Jam but he's a lovely man and 'You Do Something To Me' s a bona fide classic.

Ah wasn't Clean Bandit something like 25/1 a few weeks before Christmas 2016? Still 10/1 for Jack Harlow tempting

Hell yes. That's an underrated classic. I also love "Wouldn't Change A Thing" by Kylie. Just a corker.

Quite like 'Confidence' by Ocean Alley but unsurprisingly an old song and will need a reset to do well in chart. Anyone know why it's blowing up?

Generic ROTW Politics
Yes the Dutch always had the reputation of being super tolerant - although how much of that was due to Amsterdam. From what I'm reading there's a lot of disenchantment with the cost of living, rents and a housing crisis and the go to position is to blame the immigrant and the outsider rather than trying to tackle the excesses of capitalism.

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Including the best selling single of 1979 'Bright Eyes' over a million. Although Douglas Adams who wrote 'Watership Down', for which the song was on the soundtrack, absolutely hating it. :smoke:
