The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
Austerity was completely right actually..... ....for the richest 5% in society and especially the wealthiest 1%. The rest of us, especially the disabled were slowly slowly given a real deterioration in quality of life. And the debts are now as high as ever! I cringe about thar "We're in this together' slogan Osbourne and Co came out with. They're laughing themselves silly at the gullibility of people who fell for it!

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Never actually heard any solo Thom Yorke stuff despite being a massive Radiohead fan. For years were my favourite band.

Billie Piper
She was a bit rubbish all round IMO (sorry) but 'Honey to the Bee' was a quirky earworm.

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Arrdee has great potential. I'm not that keen on his obvious sample hits like 'Flowers' but 'Oliver Twist' was great (especially as it highlighted his eccentric side) and 'Liquor and Cigarettes' definitely in my top 10 singles of the year..

The Middle East Today
Well I know it's a bit late but Labour are now stepping up their rhetoric against the intolerable killings by Israel. Pleased at this change in tone and hopefully isolate the Tories on being 100% behind them.

Top 100 Singles + Albums; W/E 14/12/23
So it's the Brits Elton/Ed, Chris Rea, Wizard, Leona and Slade which manage to have lower chart positions then last year despite Christmas music doing much better generally across the board.

Oh Shakin Stevens already doing better than last year! Thought it was falling out of fashion but you can't keep this legendary ANTHEM down. :cheeseblock:

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Awww I would have given Marc Almond more points. Even outside of Soft Cell he's done loads of great stuff - and I saw him in Pizza Express once! :P Lol, myself and Jade only giving Mike Oldfield points. Do love a bit of 'Tubular Bells'.

She sounds like a toddler moaning about not getting enough ice cream! Dreadful song IMO but loved here. 'Exes' better mind.

I really hate 'Driving Home for Christmas'

Lol at the rather unfortunate 'I'm not here for long. Catch me before I go' lyric in 'Houdini' - is that a reference to its chart run? :P

Love 'Feliz Navidad' - fresh for a Christmas song. Cheesy as hell but nothing wrong with that!

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread: 8th December 2023
I think it's also that it may highlight that the chart is made up and people might complain that their favourites are falling too fast.

Based on 'Can't Catch Me Now' I'd like Olivia to try more of these atmospheric tracks in future. 'GUTS' was fine but 'Vampire' and 'Teenage Dream' aside, it wasn't a massive musical (or even lyrical) progression from 'SOUR'.

Wow - is that a record fall within the top 40. None of the Elvis reissues fell 37 places and stayed top 40! :o :o :o

Friday Chart Predictions
Really interesting post actually - think despite all its issues the UK charts aren't too bad in their make up (except at Christmas but don't want to re-open that here). Think ours work way better than the USA and what you mention about Australia. There's enough buzz about them to keep me interested even if they're never going to be as fast as the breakneck speed of 1991-2005 say.

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
I definitely would have given DJ Shadow some points too if I remembered him. Shakin' Stevens music is tacky but fun, although 'Merry Christmas Everyone' is really strong for a Christmas classic.

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
The Media in the UK is for the most part client journalism (and that's putting it politely, a lot of the papers are Far Right Filth now) employed by and therefore biased towards the whims and wishes of the wealthiest 1% in society who can therefore increase profits and strip our countries assets as much as they like. Focus on immigration and that nonsensical Rwanda scheme is a great distraction, plus the fact so many are non white will please the racists too.

2023 year to date estimates
Shame that 'What I Was Made For?' not going to make EOY top 40 but great that the similar style 'Ceilings' will hang on especially as it's very much been out of the weekly top 100 for months.

Friday Chart Predictions
Exactly, when the Christmas season was pre streaming then radio stations still played Christmas music most of the time (although prob not from 1st November) but current artists would still release original Christmas songs or just big tracks which all competed for the Christmas no.1s. I just see these Spotify playlists as radio airplay because people find the playlist and press play. I mean Band Aid was played every Christmas in memory but we didn't have to see that top 10 in the chart each year and no one complained then.

Friday Chart Predictions
Agreed. Just realised that Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra's 'Let it Snow Let it Snow Let it Snow!' doesn't mention Christmas or anything related once in the lyrics. It's just about weather which hardly ever happens in the UK at Christmas but no one's going to say that isn't a Christmas song.

US Hot 100 – 12/02/2023
Wham in the UK, Brenda in the USA. Can we now start calling it "All I Want for Flopmas' yet?
