Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Oh I was being a bit flippant - just thought it was genuinely funny that Sir Cliff with his 60977 hits over 7 decades or whatever was being ranked by a guy with an ahem dubious name whose song does sound very novelty. I don't rank Cliff at all - and huge kudos to Scatman John RIP for what he did!

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Think we have very similar music tastes! Tricky's debut 'Maxinquaye', with wonderful vocals by Martine Topley Bird, is a fantastic listen and more accessible than his follow ups. Do love later singled 'Christiansands' and 'Broken Homes' (featuring PJ Harvey) too. He can make any track he appears on very eerie with his tone of voice. Agree that Zach Bryan is a revelation based on 'Orange' and 'I Remember Everything' and I normally have a visceral hatred for country

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
I actually prefer Paul Weller's stuff with The Style Council and The Jam but he's a lovely man and 'You Do Something To Me' s a bona fide classic.

Christmas #1 2023 odds & discussion
Ah wasn't Clean Bandit something like 25/1 a few weeks before Christmas 2016? Still 10/1 for Jack Harlow tempting

Scatman John ranked on the same level as Cliff Richard. Never change Buzzjack!! :D

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread: 24th November 2023
Runaway #1? Eh it's at 34 - and many controversies is slightly underplaying his outbursts last year but agreed it's not stopping people listening to him. Sure Jack said that the UK charts are partially based on radio airplay at the start. That's never been the case unless you count passive Spotify playlists but don't think thats what he meant!

Stock Aitken & Waterman 20 Greatest Songs Ranked
Hell yes. That's an underrated classic. I also love "Wouldn't Change A Thing" by Kylie. Just a corker.

Quite like 'Confidence' by Ocean Alley but unsurprisingly an old song and will need a reset to do well in chart. Anyone know why it's blowing up?

Yes the Dutch always had the reputation of being super tolerant - although how much of that was due to Amsterdam. From what I'm reading there's a lot of disenchantment with the cost of living, rents and a housing crisis and the go to position is to blame the immigrant and the outsider rather than trying to tackle the excesses of capitalism.

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Including the best selling single of 1979 'Bright Eyes' over a million. Although Douglas Adams who wrote 'Watership Down', for which the song was on the soundtrack, absolutely hating it. :smoke:

Friday Chart Predictions
The continued success of 'Our Version of Events' was largely due to 'Read All About it' being performed ad nauseum everywhere including the Olympics and then 'Clown' being a big X Factor song plus of course 'Next to Me'. Largely right place large right time. But no real love for her as a person. My favourite tracks of hers were the Naughty Boy collaborations 'Wonder' and 'Lifted' but they sadly were no way as big as 'La La La'

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Know it was as part of a group (Wah!) but absolutely LOVE the 1982/3 smash 'The Story of the Blues' by Pete Wylie such a rousing anthem! For some reason thought Brian McKnight would have had bigger chart success than a 36 in the UK. Much bigger in USA .

US Hot 100 – 11/25/2023
Oh confused with Rosemary Clooney. Oops! I'm waiting for the weirdness of 'You're a mean one Mr Grinch' and 'Linus and Lucy' to enter the top 50 in a couple of weeks.

And not looking good in Netherlands either with Geert Wilders '(whose been around for aeons) getting most seats with the Far right Party for Freedom party. Which sounds fun but isn't... Early hours mind

Wham finally breaking up the eternal Christmas top 4 of Mariah, Rosemary, Bobby and Burl by re-entering higher than the latter two!

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Despite having quite a few hits haven't heard about Conor Maynard for like a decade... oops! "Solo Dance" was cheesy but quite a fun hit. Always remember Prince William and Kate announcing Martin Jensen's chart position on the chart show when they guested.

Ooo great classic early 00s rock albums by Evanescence and Muse back in the top 40. 'Absolution' is easily Muse's masterpiece!

Argentina on the other hand have elected a Far right populist President Javier Milai Happy fash today - although maybe not so much in the UK as he wants the Falklands back. :coffee:

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Must admit found male soloists more difficult to vote for (unlike females as tend to find I listen to them more in groups. And my favourit)e one (Tom Waites) wasn't eligible.

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
'Nazis 1994' by Roger Taylor was actually played on the chart show back then! It's absolutely impossible to imagine Radio 1 touching something like that nowadays even though it's an anti facist and sadly prophetic song.

Good he got in but in a weaker position than before he voluntarily called a GE right?

Khalid was on every other hit it seemed 4 years ago - completely fallen out of favour. 'Lovely' remains a streaming behemoth mind
