  1. Wonder why 'Ghostbusters' spent two stints in the top 10 back in 1984. Was it a hit in its own right and then became big because of the movie release? Or another reason? Very unusual chart pattern back then.
  2. The Doja tracks that have done well this era are pretty much pure pop whereas the more edgy/hip hop stuff flopped. That's gonna piss her off.
  3. 'Ten' is great but doesn't look like it's hanging around. :(
  4. Astonishing that Frank Ocean has never had a top 40 as a lead artist considering how well he's done on streaming - just collabs with Jay Z/Kanye and Calvin Harris and loads of others. Def should ask for resets.
  5. Excellent track mind! They cut the bit about bringing a gun to school though understandably.
  6. Wow this new Beatles track is really good too - much better than 'Free as a Bird', its so atmospheric and a bit melancholic. Hope with physicals it does get to no.1.

But the genocide is happening right now from Oct 7th so the growth in numbers before the genocide is not relevant. The Israelis have killed 10000 civilians in just a few weeks, not to mention destroyed Gazan infrastructure. That's pretty genocidal.
  8. I know it's supposed to be Twelve days of Christmas but modern culture - yeww. Poor Jack Saunders is going to have several ultra grumpy weeks starting from next one.
  9. Don't think so. Just like Christmas it all seems to be about American artists.

I hate to say it but Andrew bloody Tate (who remains disgustingly misogynistic on other issues) has a more moral stance on Palestine than the leader of the Labour Party. Piers Morgan also raising objections against Israel - mind you he has been pretty good on certain things (Covid) in the past.

It is a saying with many interpretations - some antisemitic, some not. IMO it would achieve more if the protestors who I agree with overall do not use that saying going forwards as it is weaponised by the media and detracts from the horrors actually happening in Palestine.

I actually find Taylor's music really beige and boring overall. Weird because i love Olivia Rodrigo from the get go whose similar but more fiery I guess. But she has her stans (and she is pretty good on human rights stuff) so fair play and all that.

Which they should, because $l*t isn't an offensive word unless you're extremely puritanical. The show isn't a Childrens one. I first thought when I saw the word that it was the brown stuff which would probably have to censor on daytime radio.
  14. Can we count 'Vampire' as a Halloween track? Surprised slightly that Anne Marie/Aitch 'Psycho' doesn't get a Halloween boost either.

So Israel are really stepping up their attack, cutting off electricity and internet in Gaza and doing a full scale bombing attack last night. Gazans can't call for help or be taken to hospital safely. The UN has unequivocally condemned Israel's action and has called for ceasefire but Israel are having none of it. Very few countries are supporting them but USA and their poodle the UK are (despite the public being overwhelmingly for a ceasefire). I'm not the kind of person who is looking for footage of what it is like for the inhabitants of Gaza right now but needless to say it's going to be horrific and genocidal. There's going to be massive demonstrations today in the UK in solidarity with the Palestinians, for which even the tiniest bit of inevitable hijacking by bad actors/extreme Islamists will be used to denounce the valid views of the demonstrators and to smear all of them as antisemites. But there's too many of them who have very strong feelings (including several of my friends who are going) that I'm sure they will continue every weekend for the foreseeable future, until there is a ceasefire. And Bravermann and co might moan about it but there's nothing they can do about it!
  16. Wikipedia calls it folk pop and I think it's that too. It's almost identical to Mumford and Sons in terms of genre and depends if you call it country. It's like a million times better than the usual country dirge!
  17. Wonder why 'Disconnect?' isn't on the album - that would push up streaming "sales" if nothing else.
  18. He is awful in every sense - promised integrity but gave us more and more corruption. I haven't read everything to do with his wife's business empire but it sounds dodgy as hell. He has no sense of morals, completely going for GB News style politics to save his skin- bashing trans people, dumping the even very minor changes that were proposed to tackle the climate emergency but stating vapidly that net zero targets will be made (like how?) and being either too scared or unwilling to reign his deeply divisive and dangerous Home Secretary's rhetoric in. I get the sense he doesn't give a monkey's about his fellow humans and always has his eye on lining his pockets post being PM. He'll be forgotten as a footnote in British politics in no time. Although I do hope he loses his seat at the next election. With tactical voting and a strong Reform vote then maybe just maybe.
  19. Kanye the 4th most popular artist on UK Spotify (according to their Daily charts) higher place than Olivia Rodrigo and 5 tracks top 200. Controversy? What controversy?

Shame that "sales" are so low when there is so much genuinely interesting and different music in the charts but oh well...
  21. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/o...portillo-moment Sorry forgot the article!
  22. This is big news and shows the Tories know they're toast. Hunt is regarded as being one of the moderates but decimated the NHS on his watch and like several "moderates", he purely exists to increase the wealth of the richest in our society whilst making the poor, poorer. That said, the resulting corpse of the Tory party will definitely resurrect as some ghastly hard right/UKIP/BNP style party. Bravermann prob next leader.
  23. Same here - I'd have liked 'Pretty ain't Pretty' as a hit. 'The Grudge' is one of the meh album tracks but obviously it's appealing to some people.

So Rishi Sunak's 'Destroy the Environment and Trans people' policy emphasis going well then isn't it...

Tamworth looking like a definite Labour win. Mid Beds was looking much closer but very recent mumbling are that Labour have won there too. Let's hope that's the case in a few hours.
