Streaming Services Chart Discussion
That was UK's shame as that was a great track- and I don't listen to hardly any Spanish language music.

The Middle East Today
I know it's a relatively tiny thing compared to this horrific loss of life but I'm thinking would the Olympics 2024 be OK with all this tension around the World plus being held in Paris of all places which is a bit of a hotspot for terrorist attacks. Several events have started to be cancelled like the MTV Europe event in Paris, again.

US Hot 100 – 10/21/2023
That's a very savage Recurrency rule application for 'Calm Down' - trust David Kushner is gaining so doesn't apply to him.

Do you have 'What I Was Made For?' Position please? Thanks

By-elections 2024
Peter Bone - a repellent hard right sexist ultra Brexiter with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, Tory MP for Wellingborough has had the whip withdrawn by his party following the publication of a report from the independent expert panel yesterday saying he should be suspended from the Commons for six weeks for bullying and sexual misconduct. So yet ANOTHER by election on the cards. A huge majority of 18540 at the last General Election but should be easily beatable considering the unpopularity of the Government and possibly Tactical voting. Guess we'll see the result of the Bedfordshire election on Thursday as whether this works out effectively in ditching the Tory.

The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
I'd say it's our hyper aggressive corrupt media - they were taken by surprise by the closeness of the 2017 General Election and they threw absolutely everything against Corbyn after 2017, smearing him as an anti semite, day after day painting him as an enemy of Britain. And that largely worked - helped by Brexit uncertainty and the absolute unfathomable popularity of Johnson in some areas of the country. But if any leader in the UK dares go left again they'll be attacked viciously by the press and now we're counting well funded social media campaigns. In a world run by capitalism, anyone who dares challenge will be destroyed. And the capitalist right has the resources to do this.

2023 singles in 2024 chart
Reckon 'Prada' will do well after being reset in January. Maybe Suicidal Idol and Jungle will go top 10

Friday Chart Predictions
Nice to see Chase and Status doing so well with all 3 tracks - although know two of them are on DC-2 so hope it's enough for them to avoid ACR (actually don't mind if 'Disconnect' goes as way too much Becky Hill in chart over last few years). Hope 'Liquor and Cigarettes' can go top 20 this week. Also wonder why Suicidal Idol does so so much better on Friday chart then the midweek? Guess it's doing nothing on downloads/Amazon...

Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign - Vultures 1
Mind you Kanye has 4 entries on the Top 200 UK Spotify with legacy songs including 86 and 87 so praising Hitler isn't exactly the career ending event one would have maybe thought it was...

cassö, RAYE & D-Block Europe - Prada
I'm really getting into it. Raye sounds great on it vocally and gets the lion's share of the vocals. DBE are very much marginalised. It's catchy as hell and such an earworm. A bit tacky sure buy way less than stuff like David Guetta's recent output.

The Middle East Today
Also this conflict has more of a religious element then Russia vs Ukraine and so a lot of sympathy is based on religious grounds - some would say racial too.
-
Fred again.. & Jozzy - ten
Continues this October's theme of rather leftfield, unusual tracks making the top 40 (assuming it makes it and a 15 debut on Spotify should seal the deal) and so here for it. Thought 'Adore U' was nothing special but loving this already.

Generic ROTW Politics
9 months later, New Zealand does a drastic swing to the right in their elections and Chris Hipkins, who took over from Jacinta Arden, after her surprise resignation in January, concedes defeat to Christopher Luxon of the centre right National party who may govern with the populist New Zealand first party. Yet another country's progressiveness bites the dust....

The Middle East Today
This whole situation feels as big (if not bigger) than 9/11 moment, where the retributions from the victims of the terrorism attack were completely overblown and targeted the wrong victims, which lead to huge resentment and more division, terrorism and violence. Only difference is that this timescale is much much faster.

ACR Updates (Estimate):
Tragic even that 'Rich Men North of Richmond' even made 9 weeks in the Top 100 to qualify for ACR. 'bad idea right' could have had a few weeks although the rather similar 'Get him back' will keep that Olivia sound high in the chart for a while.

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread: 13th October 2023
Oh of course. My mistake. Guess Kenya first to do it on original release.

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread: 13th October 2023
Think this was talked about in another thread. Kate Bush although wrote the amazing 'Wuthering Heights' didn't produce it. Andrew Powell did. So Kenya is the history maker for this award. Think the US equivalent was 'Foolish Beat' by Debbie Gibson which she made the first US No.1 produced and written by a woman.

Hope a good few weeks of it before the tedious Christmas take over. Which prob be worse than ever.

The Middle East Today
There is some encouraging news that Israeli people are furious with the Government for not keeping their people safe - whether deliberately (there is that astonishing claim, confirmed by the US that Netanyahu ignored warnings from Egypt a few days before). Yes Hamas are grotesque barbarians but that was priced in. That sounds the biggest scandal if true. Horrible stories of hate crime against both Jewish and Muslim communities here too - some Jewish schools are being closed for own safety. And both main parties' leaders here are showing no nuance whatsoever. Not going to be nice in our cities here either.

Friday Chart Predictions
Seems there is a lot of unusual/quirky indieish music making the top 40 at the moment- Jungle, Noah Kahan, Suicidal Idol, Lovejoy, Mitzki etc... Have to go right back to the Physical singles era to get anything close to this number. Know likes of Billie and Lana have done well but to get so much at once is amazing.

Christmas #1 2023 odds & discussion
'Golden Hour' would have made a perfect Christmas no.1 IMO but actually peaked in January. Assuming Jvke has something more festive.

The Middle East Today
Netanyahu has been criticised often this year and had multiple protests for being anti democratic plus he clearly treats Palestinians and lower class citizens, easily expandable. Certainly deep on the road to being a fascist dictator in my book.

The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
At least no horrific culture war diatribes in his speech. Unlike Sunak and Braverman.

The UK and transphobia
I understand although Labour overall as a party will be much more sympathetic to LGBT rights and the Tories will get much worse and sadly there isn't any other party that will form government apart from Labour (although I pray and hope for a Lib Dem explosion in the blue wall/South of England and a coalition - know that they excel in by elections though) Labour have just announced a no exceptions total ban on conversion therapy which the Tories have dropped completely from this Government, purely because Sunak is a nasty, repellant homophobe.
