The UK and transphobia
Anyway just signed this Government petition so they don't remove the rights of trans people from the Equality Act. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/62...plJHbkqEsguuURw

Nicola Sturgeon resigns & SNP Leadership Election
There were rumours of that at the time.

The UK and transphobia
They aren't happy inside- they see everything as a competition and always have to put people down rather than acknowledge their own issues. Re: bathroom bills. Some trans men are very masculine so are they supposed to use women's toilets? Ludicrous

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
Love Jem's 'They' so much, Jamelia had a few great songs ('See it in a Boy's eyes') my fave, 'Soulmate' my fave Tash Bedders but my favourite song from all of the above females has to be Benee's 'Supalonely' - that reminded me of early Pandemic when living alone by the Harbourside in Bristol and this strong reflected the strange, dreamlike, new way of life. Such a cute unique song.

The Queen 50th anniversary singles rate
I've been re-listening to the Queen playlist loads since I did the rate (just making the original deadline) and would never have given the Queen/Five one 18 points now. It still tanked in this rate so no loss really. C-Lebrity isn't too bad tbh.

'The Bones' is a rare example of an excellent country track that should have been a UK hit!

Don't even know that track - will check it out.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
I'm a bit surprised that (from what I can see) the Lumineers 'Ho Hey' from around the same time as 'Riptide' and on the charts for ages is not a streaming force.

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
Don't really know what to say about the last batch - haven't even heard of 2 of them! Jordin Sparks 'No Air' - I absolutely hated at the time, of course Chris Brown feature didn't help but horrible dirge.

Generic ROTW Politics
So another modern progressive young female leader getting deposed by the right wing - I remember all that fuss about her going out and enjoying a few drinks overegged smear.

RADIO 1 to close down for good at midnight.
Wouldn't surprise me in a way as the Tories probably think it Too Woke unless they played Rule Britannia every hour.

US Politics Thread
They'd not have a hope in hell in winning with Trump (I would say the same re: De Santis) legally or fairly but they would cheat their asses off and refuse to ratify Democrat wins in the swing states by having lots of corrupt election staff. It will get nasty. Noticing that many of the Republicans are going full board blaming Jewish Holocaust survivor, George Soros, for being behind it all - anti-semitic dog-whistle/foghorn.

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
So it's official then, Emmerdale's Malandra Burrows is a greater female artist in the history of music than either Stevie Nicks or Carly Simon. Someone better go tell her the good news! :D Really enjoying this thread too - thanks Gezza! 😊

OCC: Girls Aloud's Top 40 Biggest Songs
'The Show' seems too low and 'Can't speak French' too high but does for once look like their biggest hits are kind of ranked in order unlike Rihanna or Beyonce say where some tracks which were asbsolutely huge at the time are dwarfed by recent middling streaming hits due to being released in wrong era.

OCC: Lana Del Rey's Top 40 Biggest Songs
Of all her tracks I have heard I only really love 'West Coast' - it's a bit like PJ Harvey, one of my favourite artists of all time, very menacing and uncommercial but with a hypnotic hook. I would put it in one of my top 10 singles of last decade in fact. But sounds very alternative and atypical of her usual torch songs - is that right? Are there any other of her tracks like that? should check out more of her stuff when I have time as she has rave reviews especially here.

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
Ooooo I love Stevie Nicks 'Rooms on Fire' - such a mysterious (yet catchy) track. Nerina Pallot - I think 'Patience' is my favourite of hers but did like 'Everyone's Gone to War' but nothing blew me away to get an album of hers although I normally like that genre.

US Hot 100 – 04/01/2023
Reckon SZA has a shot of doing a Faith Hill or Dua Lipa and getting EOY no.1 without actually peaking at no.1 for a single week? (Even though Dua was robbed). Im sure 'Flowers' will fall faster.

The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
The obsession with Corbyn is really something else - every other leader of the two parties gets forgotten about pretty quickly especially the ruthless Tories - Cameron, May, Truss and even Johnson (look at how his rebellion flopped last week with not much fanfare) seem like history but people talk about Corbyn 3.5 years after he finished and Owen Jones rightly notices about how he is harassed outside his front door more than any other current politician. It's like how his views and ideas must never be allowed to rise up again, how dare capitalism ever be challenged!

Easter chart show
Confused - Easter Sunday is the 9th not the 11th. Are you saying there's no Chart show on Good Friday 7th April? The schedule here says there is for 2 hours https://www.bbc.co.uk/schedules/p00fzl86/2023/04/07

The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
The situation is unjust and sucks but not a fair world. The demographic make up of the UK of people of voting age who actually vote is not left wing, inclusive and radical especially when you factor in the laughably (except not funny) unfair FPTP. Elections are not won in inner cities or university towns- it's small towns mainly in North and Midlands full of ageing people who have reactionary views and take in some, not all thankfully, of the propaganda are horrific corrupt press, now including the BBC. Not saying that this move is wise tactically (although don't see any mass resignations/defections by MPs) but hoping for a PM the majority of people (including me) on Buzzjack want in a reactionary, depressed society like Britain is like expecting a group of carnivores to go vegan overnight. At least Starmer maybe the equivalent of adding a couple of veggie options twice a week..getting rid of a few the ultra cruel batshit policies of the Tories and making life for the poorest in society slightly better. As for Corbyn himself, it's sad but thought his recent Russia/Ukraine comments were dodgy, even though I agree with the fact that Western foreign policy (Iraq especially) means we are severely weakened morally One thing I find a bit disappointing is the lack of cooperation between Labour and Lib Dems. I'd just hate it if they both campaigned to the fullest and let Tories in seats in South that if they combined they'd lose. But maybe that will come later.

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
I loved 'Every Heartbeat' - deserved much higher than no.25 and it would have been lovely if both 'House of Love' and 'That's What Love is For' made the top 40 in UK. All better than 'Baby Baby' Despite being one of the biggest Christian singers of all time she has recently been snubbed by the "Christian" right for being a pro LGBT ally.
