Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
I voted for both Sarah and Shara (lol realise very similar names) due to their contribution to fantastic groups not their solo stuff Maybe not in the spirit of the rate but both mean so much to me so couldn't ignore them.

Nicola Sturgeon resigns & SNP Leadership Election
Worrying that nearly half voted for someone who wouldn't approve equal marriage as well as being very anti trans. I bet Kate Forbes will get a great media career as a tormented concerned woman ala Julie Bindel and Kathleen Stock. :drama: Let's hope Yousaf does well although feel that he may struggle to do as well as Sturgeon

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
I listened to the top 100 UK hits of 1978 a lot recently and can certify that Suzi Quatro's 'If you Can't Give me Love', her last major hit, is an absolute bop! :music:

Donald Trump releases a "charity" single
He did mention the chart success of the single in some violent fash rant at Waco of all places. He said "“That song tells you a lot because it’s number one in every single category Number two was Taylor Swift, number three was Miley Cyrus.” Lol someone here should tell him that iTunes are worth shit now in terms of popularity.

Up to 'One Vision' in your playlist. I actually never been a Queen and thought would be an ordeal but their stuff sounds surprisingly better than I thought rather than hearing randomly on the radio..votes tonight

Brexit II: This Time It's Irreversible
So Johnson and bloody Truss' (as if one disgraced former PM who wrecked the country wasn't enough) voted against but not a significant rebellion. Tbh I would hope they do try and sabotage Sunak who showed how unpleasant he is by the Refugee Bill but is also showing some signs of turning around Tory decline.

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
A bit like Caron Wheeler who didn't match the success of the group she had some iconic songs with. 'Uptight' is a bit of an earworm mind.

I voted for some pretty obscure ones but pleasing none have shown yet. Lol at Tones and I so low. 'Dance Monkey' us definitely one of music's biggest crimes

US Politics Thread
So Trump claims he is getting arrested on Tuesday and has asked his followers to rise up and do another Capitol Hill type resistance. It will surely fail as they don't have the numbers but could be some individual horrific acts of violence and terrorism. I guess that whatever happens he won't be standing in 2024 as a regular candidate (unless it flops and he backtracks on the call). Scary times...

Hozier debuting top 10 on Spotify not in many people's scorecards for 2023! Great track too.

Winter of strikes
So looking like the NHS strikes has worked to some extent with a pay offer that unions are recommending staff accept? Good news if that is the case.

US Politics Thread
Problem is that the "sane" Republicans checked out or were pushed out a while back. It's the party of culture wars, even more guns and authoritarianism. Re: Russia/Ukraine - De Santis has joined Trump, who is still pulling all the strings, in appeasing Putin. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/ma...ort-ukraine-war Also since China is aligning itself as an ally of Russia then I guess that the chance of Ukraine resisting Putin is getting slimmer by the day anyhow.

US Politics Thread
Biden has been a great leader of the USA considering how divided it is and how tough the circumstances are. He has implemented a lot of left leaning policies despite a huge amount of opposition both from within politics and the angry red states yet always seems to keep smiling. No question he will win in popular votes. BUT we'll have to see how effective the attempts by Donald Trump's Republicans (and it will be Trump, he's just waaaay more popular than anyone else in the Republican including De Santis) by voting sabotage/interference works in key states by installing cronies as election officials who can refuse to ratify Democrat victories. They have passed anti voting legislation to disadvantage the poor and minorities from voting. And of course he will openly have the most evil man in the world (Putin) doing all he can to get him in again in cyberland, in exchange for support in removing assistance to Ukraine that Biden has supplied. Best hope is that Trump becomes too ill to stand as I don't see any of the upcoming legal challenges stopping him in anyway.

Who are your favourite Children?
You mentioned 21st Century so I guess this excludes this version from Tilt (which made no. 51 in 1998) which came to mind when I saw the poll. Know it from the excellent Red Jerry's Deeper Euphoria compilation. JSX8fq37Goc I'll listen to the others you posted now though.

Nicola Sturgeon resigns & SNP Leadership Election
It's all a bit disappointing that she didn't have an obvious primed successor and that 2 of the 3 candidates want to drop the Gender Recognition Bill (and the only one pro trans rights isn't impressing people) Is it because of the horrificly toxic environment for standing up for trans rights that people sympathetic to the cause are too scared to stand? That's (without knowing the ins and outs of Scottish politics) what it looks like to me sadly. As usual, the arseholes won. :(

US Hot 100 – 03/18/2023
To be fair despite the number of tracks top 100, he's only got 1 of the top 6 so Taylor and Drake still have more successful album bombs. Obviously great result but not spectacular.

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
I'm thinking that Tories nicking left leaning Labour policies (even if they're not going to be truly socialist) is great as it shifts the Overton window economically (even if not in terms of social issues) to the left. Then when the policy that the Tories have nicked is popular, Labour can go even more left for next election. But of course, in the First Past the Post, adversarial mess which is UK politics, it's ALL about getting your particular party into power.

Yep country music tends to do better in Aus than UK overall (although not spectacularly well). Imagine some of it's due to the demographic. white artists tend to do better in Aus charts anyway from what I can see.

MTV: George Ezra's Top 10 Biggest Songs
I would have thought GGG would be top 5 by end of either this year or if not some time next year, those figures are 2.5 months old, it's still selling well and prob be big all over summer again, sorry!
