  1. He's had two songs over 3 million - didn't think 'Budapest' was that big.
  2. Not that I voted but awww 'Strong Enough' is fantastic. Preferred it to 'Believe' back in the day.

I'd love to agree but although this is a very satisfying climbdown, the BBC is still owned by a Tory and has them in leadership positions. Plus on this occasion they picked on probably the most popular man in the most popular sport in the UK. Most times their targets aren't in a position to get the mainstream support, sadly. However, it has opened more eyes to the corruption that is going on so perhaps they'll be slightly more careful, who knows?

And the good news keeps coming - Fiona Bruce is now stepping back from her role as a domestic violence charity. Funny that her opinion that just one broken nose (which is completely disputed by Johnson's father's partner) was fine doesn't resonate with them. Hopefully this Tory stooge is off our screens full stop before too long.

There's so much exploding gammon around in the UK now that you can eat free in Wetherspoons all week!
  6. Well Cat has only had one hit (albeit massive), the others all flopped and ArrDee's previous single didn't even enter the top 200 on Spotify for a day so this has done a lot better initially. I think that this kind of song could take a while to be a hit too so let's see streaming numbers over next few weeks.

And Sugar posting Corbyn as an actual Nazi on his twitter whilst presenting The Apprentice. The issue is that to anyone with an ounce of logic is that there is complete inconsistency and no one on the right will admit to that part (even if they think Lineker's comments were wrong). Anyway sources close to Gary are saying that he's confident situation will be resolved shortly and there's no way he's going to back down so obvs the BBC will climbdown. Let's hope for good news soon.

Good news! Keir Starmer (who can be very wishy washy on many issues for my liking) has come out strong for team Lineker.

Agreed but the BBC can't stand up to this government because they are owned by this government now (Tory Director General and Tory Chairman). It is a Government state propaganda channel now.

I think this is one of the most spectacular own goals (to use a football analogy) this ghastly Tory government have done. I don't follow football but everyone knows Gary Lineker is a legend and to put him up against the likes of Sunak, Braverman and the other no marks fash isn't going to go down well. If we are talking 1930s Germany, at least Hitler was popular with a huge number of young people (with horrific consequences) - this shower will (apart from a few weirdos) only appeal to the Boomer generation upwards. Populism without the popularity.
  11. Donald Trump aiming for held-back release Billboard "in with a bullet" next week? :nocheer:

That was shocking - a day after International Women's day too.

The transphobes pretend to care about women but don't speak out against the woeful conviction rates for sexual assaults on women. They pretend to care about children but they don't care about changing the law when gunmen shoot down children in schools (US) or more generally cut school budgets to the bone They pretend to care about lesbian and gay people - although most of them were pro Section 28 and anti gay marriage at the time They pretend to care about free speech but they are protected by a vicious well-funded media who amplify transphobe voices and silence actual trans voices. Any people who tries to challenge gets death threats and their past raked over for skeletons. I call these people one word - evil.

Was fuming when I heard this but in a way pleased that the football player community has come out overwhelmingly in solidarity with Lineker. I don't think this is a good look for the Tories at all as they are annoying more than just minority groups for once.
  15. I have a soft spot for ArrDee and this is pleasant and catchy enough, certainly better than that 'Loser' whinge track. Hope it's a hit. Although yes it's 'My G' part 2 with less personal lyrics. And as for Cat Burns I hated 'Go' so this is also a great improvement. u8BVu1uMssU
  16. Although to be fair, don't think I ever hear that or 'A Winter's Tale' - the fact that they're not American or pre 70s gives them a BIG disadvantage with Christmas playlists and the charts.
  17. Well at least it's stopped the Mail screaming about that Starmer Se Grey non story bollocks for a bit. Gary Lineker isn't going to fold on this and that's wonderful.
  18. Yep it will only increase people smuggling as victims wouldn't dare to approach authorities. This hatred is the only thing Tories have left. Just today far right Italian coalition partner Mateo Salvini was praising their policy.

Just looked at India's Wiki entry. It used to say that she described her views as 'right of centre' but that is removed. She definitely takes left wing views. Incidentally, looking at the edit history for her is painful as extremely often she is dead named which has to be corrected.

I overall like Ed but 'I Don't Care' and 'Beautiful People' are basically two of the worst no.1s of all time. TMBTL was kind of ok as a song although crappy lyrics.

There's a lot of terms used in this thread which I'm not 100% sure what is meant, especially as some comments refer to the USA which is different to the UK (they have a very pro LGBT President for starters although life is horrific in the red states) In the UK, it's obvious that progressive people who look after minorities do not have the raw numbers and more importantly the power (in terms of money, media outreach - trans or trans friendly voices are hardly ever in the media and in terms of getting their votes to count, they build up extra votes in big cities, university towns but that leads loads of 'red wall' towns with socially conservative views). If by liberals we mean centrists, it's pretty clear that they are not going to go out on a limb for trans people (Starmer has made that adamant) and some are down right hostile. Anyhow even if people did care, hardly anyone protests in the UK anyway (and if they try now they'll end up in jail). Scotland and Sturgeon was the shining outlier but that's all gone now. Again I don't know what the answer is. I read India Willougby (who ironically was fairly right leaning a few years back, she was originally on GB News) tweets and often regularly tweets stuff like this Now is the toughest time in history to be trans. They are trying to make life SOOO uncomfortable for us that we stay in the closet. They genuinely want to legislate trans people out of existence. And yes, it is scary. Sending ❤️ to your daughter xxx What with Rishi Sunak's ghastly 'Send back the boats' lectern, it's fascism happening in real time whilst the rich get even richer.
  22. Yep there was a phase 2 years ago where alt right artists got several short lasting but often high peaking Hot 100 hits (Aaron Lewis from Staind got a no. 14 with some passive agressive nationlistic tripe and two very offensive songs based on the anti Biden Let's Go Brandon by rappers made the top 40). What a flop from Trump!
  23. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/ma...ary-6-prisoners Where do you even begin? It features several prisoners from the January 6 Capitol Hill insurrection and ends with chants of 'USA USA'.. But it's on all streaming platforms and since it's Buzzjack guess deserves own thread Rumours that the producer on this weird far right track ,(which Im choosing not to listen to) is none other than Kanye West or Ye or whatever he calls himself.
  24. So Johnson finally crawls out from under his rock and bleats on about how this NI protocol deal isn't really "taking back control" without outright saying that he'll try to bring it down, creating a bit of a stink without landing a killer blow. Of course, Sunak would have most of Labour to support him and it's not looking like the right wing press are that bothered about this particular battle.
  25. Again I don't know the detail (of course ANY Brexit is crap compared to Remain) but the optics are that Sunak has done a goodish deal which has rebuilt some bridges with the EU. Seems to have struck the loathsome Johnson quiet for now and I think few I'm the country will want him to sabotage it. He's nowhere near as popular and this ultra hard Brexit crap hasn't really got a market anymore. I don't think this is going to help Sunak/ Tories much.. Labour polling is consistently too strong. I think that Starmer's hard man, competent but not offering anything to the left or minorities act is working well with the country. That's as good as it's going to get.
