Generic ROTW Politics
Meanwhile in Turkey, the counting for the General Election shows that ultra right wing homophobe President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his AK party (AKP) are neck and neck with nore progressive opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and could well enter a runoff if neither get over 50% of the vote when counted. There are already calls of foul play as Erdogan's mob are demanding several recounts of key votes which have been called in Kemal's favour. It would be nice if just once a right wing tyrant went down without cheating their ass off but looks like that's too much to hope for nowadays.

Friday Chart Predictions
I think to use the term "last chance" in regard to Rema's 'Calm Down' went out of the window months ago. It's got a life of its own. Wouldn't be at all surprised if it made the top 3 sometime.

Eurovision Song Contest 2023 · Grand Final
Can't really see Echo or Julian having songs big enough to be covered for Eurovision. OMD more of a case with Enola Gay, Maid of Orleans but Atomic Kitten's Whole Again was co-written by two OMD members including Andy McCluskey so he wasn't completely ignored. Sonia should have been ignored if it wasn't for the fact she had a Eurovision runner up! Come to think of it - a bit strange that there was just a John Lennon cover but no Beatles or any other of their members. Were they hoping that Paul McCartney would have made a special appearance (as rumoured) but that fell through?

Friday Chart Predictions
Don't think I'm ready yet to have another Jazzy/Belters Only ultra bland cheese fest take over the charts - especially as this has the same lyrical depth as 'Make Me Feel Good' which I'm just getting over the trauma of ! :(

Donald Trumps arrest
And yesterday Trump got an hour "townhall" style interview on CNN where in an audience made up of allegedly undecided and Independent voters he told lie after lie about January 6, the 2020 election result being rigged, building the alleged "wall" and also found time to call the anchor a "nasty person" and mocked the victim in the sexual assault court case that he was found guilty of yesterday. All to applause and laughs from the audience. Very ugly stuff.

He does the best he can with the budget he can. Sadiq Khan has tried to keep prices down and there has been some good holds but at the end of the day if the Government grants are low then it will have to come from fares. Covid would have decimated those from 2020 onwards and still not back to full capacity nowadays with the hybrid/Work from Home arrangements.

I feel sorry for the Northerners as living in London transport is excellent (albeit pricey but that's Tory Britain for you) - moving further afield I regularly get the train down to Surrey, Bristol, Brighton etc too and never really have trouble (apart from the strikes). Real North/South divide there.

Rail privatisation a rounding success isn't it - why the hell can't Labour back nationalisation?

Donald Trumps arrest
I think the "suitability" question was answered years ago and the fact that none of his Republican rivals dare criticise him when found guilty of sexual assault speaks volumes. What with De Santis failing to impress (thankfully as he's even worse in some ways) it means he'll be the nominee and promoting violence against minorities at every turn (hate crimes sky rockets during Election campaigns). 2024 will be very scary.

Friday Chart Predictions
What's this BandCamp thing - first time I've seen it mentioned. Well I can wiki it but why are the Kunts using it and not itunes? Anyway, great to see a top 40 chart with several new entries for once - even if one won't be played. Bet Jack Saunders would want to play it but prob end up in jail as that's what being anti the monarchy seems to achieve these days!

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
Rosalía would have been huge on this list if people realised she was eligible - very impressive for an artist who doesn't record in English. I did the same leaving FKA Twigs out - forgetting about her Ty Dolla sign feature. Halsey has done very well for herself considering her traumatic upbringing.

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
Funnily enough when we get another Slumdog Millionaire inspired hit recharting ('Dog Days Are Over') we get MIA on this who was a victim of Super Bowl selective blame culture as per Janet Jackson.

Friday Chart Predictions
It'll eventually be the case that every single song apart from 'Mr Brightside' gets a reset. Wonder why the Killers' record company don't find a reason for that one?

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
Wow Jessie J Top 100. Thought she was hated on here but guess has a few fans. Few of her first singles were good but then got dreadful 'It's My Party' in particular wad ewwww... Her attitude was a bit annoying too.

Lol that's brilliant!

Buzzjack's Favourite Female Solo Singer
Grace hasn't had an original top 40 hit since 1986 (she had a remix of a previous hit make the top 40 in 1994) so she's not been a contemporary artist for decades. So hardly a surprise she's not top 100 on a relatively young forum like Buzzjack!

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
Won't Raab, Gove, Johnson all lose? That's 3 big beasts right there

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
Saw that, and of course will get away with that Scot free. He is an idiotic troll but sure I read somewhere that Conservative party members rate him extremely highly in their preferred Tory polling. Could easily be next Conservative leader if/when Sunak loses the GE.

Is that Ed's? I really wouldn't call it a flop either. Underperformamce sure. And it's only week 1, it might stabilise.

Definitely surprised that some of mine (older/alternative artists) are still in the mix but likes of Ella, Kesha, Zara and Cheryl have gone!

ACR Updates (Estimate):
At the end of the day, if people aren't caring enough about new music the charts are going to be incredibly stale - attempts like ACR to freshen it up can only go so far.

Dog Days Are Over is one of those tracks that you expect would go viral, surprised its taken so long. Nice if it could reenter top 100 not been there since 2013.

Top 100 Singles + Albums; W/E 11/05/23
88 88 88 Coldplay ~ Viva La Vida Love that chart stat! Sadly the singles chart this week is particularly dull - I'm not really a fan of Nines so him being the only new entries doesn't help. Nice to see Fifty Fifty top 10 even if as somebody says here it's 'Say So' version 2. Needs something to give the chart a bit of oomph/excitement. But do people care enough about music to create that buzz anymore?
