Oh a lot of straight "religious" people think marrying amd sleeping with several women is fine but if you fancy someone of the same sex then it's a travesty. I was slightly in favour of his being elected but we don't need more homophobes in the HoC. Waay to many already.

Definitely has socially conservative views on family. Said some anti trans things.

What a shame that 3 excellent songs - 'Houdini', 'Never Leave Me' and 'Leavemealone' are all going to ACR whilst 'Cruel Summer' is STILL top 10!

But the Tories don't claim to be wolves at all. They claim to be a non racist party, caring about levelling up and making the country more equal, they spun the line about how the hardest of Brexits would bring untold riches to the country. And most shameful of all is that they claim to be strong and stable on the economy whereas the vast majority are worse off financially and the debt is sky high. And under Boris Johnson, a large proportion of the population actually believed him!

With that result, I reckon Galloway would have won even if Labour had a non-controversial regular candidate. But great news that Danzcuk and Reform died on its earth - despite every right wing channel hyping them up at every opportunity. Mind you, that will increase the change of Farage becoming its Leader - probably after the GE. :hithead:

The Salt N Pepa lyric is Yeah, you! Come here, gimme a kiss Better make it fast or else I'm gonna get pissed which is peed off context. A mild swear word, sure, but not standard daytime listening back then.

Pretty sure that Now 12 included 'pissed' in Salt 'N' Pepa's Push It Transvision Vamp's 'I Want Your Love' (Now 13) didn't have a swear word but sure that 'I just want your funky love' heavily implied f***ing love, especially the way Wendy James sang it.

Thank God 'Asking' going to ACR. Hideous song that way outstayed it's welcome by months
  9. That was huge. Kate Bush always seemed to underperform in the US as she was seen as too eccentric for that market (not touring wouldn't have helped either) RUTH did really well on radio too there this time.
  10. I'm certainly not an optimist when it comes to world affairs but just can't believe that the majority of the American people will allow Trump in, when it comes to it. And the mid term elections including the recent NewYork by election in George Santos' seat seem to all go Democrats way. Even with Biden being too old, I'd hope some younger Dems even if not standing for President, become prominent this year - not Harris as she doesn't seem to connect with voters. Like an heir apparent. Not that I'd give everyone on Buzzjack a fiver mind if it did happen :P
  11. There is a country consisting of two words, one being 'United' that could end this horrific genocide tomorrow, and it's not the post Brexit minnow tank that I live in. Of course we should stop selling weapons to Israel and apply soft pressure but although I care about this conflict I'm all a bit meh about parliament goings on.
  12. I have a feeling that 'Stick Season' will peak at 5 but spending 52 weeks on the chart. Has that feel about it not being a typical country single but people loving it

Depressing news - transphobic and homophobic intimidation and bullying work in 2024. John Lewis cancel their LGBT+ exhibition after relentless media/social media harassment. And when the monster gets fed it doesn't lay off instead it goes hungry for more. https://www.thepinknews.com/2024/02/21/john...ancelled-trans/

Agreed although think artists who get a second hit of newly recorded material a long time after their first is a different achievement/category rather than an old song going viral many years later.
  15. Surprised that 'Control Yourself' - definitely her best as a feature on a rap single, is only at 15 as it made no.2 and spent 4 weeks in the top 10. But guess May 2006 still had bad sales even though downloads were starting to be counted towards the charts.

Still to this day think 'Hey Matthew' was one of the weirdest top 10 singles of all time especially back in 1987. But I digress.

There's polling which indicates that if Johnson was leader, he would run Starmer's Labour close even now,for some reason - well I can speculate buit it wouldn't put the red wall inhabitants in a good light. But they have no love for socially awkward and the wrong skin colour Sunak.

Btw - should the thread title be updated as it's now 2024 - thanks. B-)

Another day - another venal, evil, talentless Tory asshole forced to resign and call a by election. This time Blackpool South's Scott Benton - only 3.6 K by election so question is not will Labour win but what will the majority be? Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Nick Berry was thought of as a one hit wonder with 'Every Loser Wins' getting to no.1 in October 1986 but came back with a no.2 'Heartbeat' in June 1992. Although there were a few minor hits in between including a Zero 7 collaboration which made the top 40, Sia had to wait a decade from 'Taken for Granted' making no. 10 in May 2000 to a proper hit later 'Titanium' which entered the top 20 in August 2011 but took a few months to be a mega smash. Oh and Johnny Logan's two Eurovision wins were 7 years apart- 'What's Another Year' a no.1 in 1980 and 'Hold Me Now' which made no.2 in 1987.

These things can be like a cult - bash a target to make one feel better for their miserable lives. Genuinely happy people don't have to fond a target like that - and not saying that people who aren't happy are prejudiced. And Internet is like lighter fluid to.this way of thinking to make it spread like wildfire. I remember when there was a shooting by a woman in a church In USA (where else)recently, people were spreading rumours that it was a trans assailant with no evidence whatsoever.
  22. Agreed - that'd be Tori Amos - Toast
  23. It's more similar to 'Desire' then 'Giant' but not as good as either (those are prob my favourite Calvin tracks). Certainly better than most in the charts atm and hope it does well although.fear it won't.

The Telegraph used to be thought of by many as "sensible, reasonable conservatism". There's no doubt it's pure fecking evil nowadays. Don't agree with a single thing it writes. Despite Brianna Ghey's murder, there's utterly hysteria about trans people at the moment. I hadn't heard about the Bergdorf/UN thing but there's loads about an internal John Lewis staff magazine posting trans- inclusive content with wishes of "Go woke Go broke" and they're trying to stop Park Run as they count trans women in the female results section, despite it overwhelmingly being a bit of fun. Grim.
  25. If 'Islands in the stream' cover doesn't count do we have to go back to 2004 with Nelly/Tim McGraw 'Over and Over' for the last "pure" country no.1 or if that's not counted because it's country/rap, Ronan Keating's cover of Garth Brooks' 'If tomorrow never comes' back in 2002?
