  1. Well, it was recorded specially for a film, just not Ghost.
  2. Is it the lowest peaking song to hit a million? (Excluding streams)
  3. If you listen really carefully at about 2 minutes in, you can actually HEAR the sound of Olly Mur's lawyers preparing their plagiarism case......
  4. So we can add Pharrell to the more exclusive list of artists to have had 2 million sellers in the same year. Along with Rhianna 2010 Kings of Leon 2008 Spice Girls 1996 George Michael 1984 John Travolta and ONJ 1978 Beatles 1963 Any others?
  5. If they don't like it.

Are you sure you are not just hearing "Material Girl"?? ;)

I think they would only be considered One Hit Wonders in the US. But even then, Human League had two No.1s there.
  8. Honourable mentions to Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollwood and Rivers of Babylon by Boney M that both dropped dramatically and then resurged as far as No.2 (with Frankie stopping themselves from returning to No.1).

I personally find it ridiculous that we are asked to vote for our favourite Number 2 of all time, and are then given a shortlist. Basically we are voting on our favourite record amongst someone elses favourites. Just looking at early 80s alone (one of my favourite eras!) we are "not allowed" to vote for Sweet Dreams, In the Air Tonight, Only You or even cheesy disco classics such as Mickey, Flashdance, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun etc... The fact that 3 of the nominees for the 80s are Christmas songs speak volumes about the person who shortlisted these! I don't think I'll bother.

In which you could say that about every song held off No.1 by a cover version (of which there are probably hundreds). Common People should be considered on the fact that it is a classic song.

I believe that Don't be Cruel was a double A-Side with Hound Dog which did reach No.2. However, unlike in the US where "both sides reached No.1", it seems that Hound Dog was the lead track over here according to everyhit and other sources.

I think you mean it caused a bit of annoyance. Controversy implies there was some dispute as to whether or not they should be Number One or not, whereas in reality they were soundly trounced by Run DMC that week.

I feel your pain. Although it's interesting to see which Xmas No.1s since then have been adopted as "Christmas Classics" - Stay Another Day (Amazing what a few bells at the end of the song can do), 2 Become 1 (Stick a few fur coats on girls) and even Something Stupid (Give each other presents in the video). The last great xmas chart year was 2003 and I'm still sorry the Darkness lost.

If we restrict the definition of a "two hit wonder" to having 2 No.1s and then nothing else ever (as per the one hit wonder defintion used by the Guinness book) is the only one Bob the Builder? I can't think of any others (although Irene Cara and Johnny Logan should have honorable mention) And Robson and Jerome the only three hit wonders? Edit: I see Bre has already talked about this - be interesting to see if there are any more?
  15. Funny, a few weeks ago people were saying that about Sam and the Womp.............
  16. This is not a rule in the forum guidelines. Shouldn't you put it there if you want to enforce this? Personally, I don't see why people can't post their own lists - I'm sure Gezza doesn't have time to do them all.
  17. I have to say I always wonder why people complain about the fact there is "not enough music" on a certain radio show. If you are that offended why not just whack on a CD full of your favourite songs?
  18. He made Dominick the Donkey Christmas Top 3. B-)
  19. How long have you got? B-)

And with Abba selling around 80k year they should overtake Queen by 2035! Unless they release Mamma Mia 2 in the near future.....

I think we have a future "unmemorable" Number 1 sitting at the top right now in Chris Brown.
  22. So an 8 week run at Number one is whittled down to a solitary week!
  23. As a Londoner then, I am free from blame!!!
