Passion Pit - 'Kindred'
All so, so good!

Florence + the Machine 'Ship to Wreck'
The chorus is so disappointing and nothingy, more like the end of a chorus rather than a full one. The rest of the song is pretty great though, especially the "Did I drink too much? Am I losing touch?" refrain.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 22nd March 2015
Considering her debut charted at 138, and her second album only reached 31 despite a ~minor~ hit, FROOT debuting at number 8 with more sales than those two combined is an incredible achievement with no songs sent to radio or any promotion at all and the campaign must've helped somewhat as her 'close fan base' must have grown from somewhere between this era and the last.

Marina And The Diamonds - FROOT - THE RATE
[08] Happy [09] Froot [10] I'm a Ruin [10] Blue [09] Forget [7.5] Gold [09] Can't Pin Me Down [8.5] Solitaire [09] Better Than That [08] Weeds [11] Savages [09] Immortal Average: [9] It's so difficult because I could give all these songs justification for any score above the lowest 7.5 depending on what aspect of the song I focused on. Like Immortal could've easily been my 11 in terms of lyrical themes and vocals but it could also be the 9 I gave it for overall enjoyment when listening and the sometimes too floaty production. And I'd be happy with given it either! Same goes with the rest of the songs, but with things like how much I listen to them being the deciding factor for the purpose of the rate.

Marina and the Diamonds 'FROOT'
The purity of her vocals in the first verse and the lyrics of the second make it a definite highlight. I would've rearranged the structure though slightly so it builds up more and doesn't drag in the middle, e.g. maybe not gone into the big LIKE WEEEE-EEEEEDS until the second chorus, with the "cut him at the root" in the first chorus leading straight into the second verse instead.

Alexandra Burke - Renegade
To be fair, the uncensored chorus may have a bigger impact (tacky, or not).

Marina and the Diamonds 'FROOT'
Watching that, along with the news of her US success, has actually made me really emotional omg. SHE'S ALL GROWN UP. Also, isn't Forget amazing?!

Marina and the Diamonds 'FROOT'
She said she liked the metaphor of fruit ripening until they're ready for consumption; she feels like she's at that stage in her life when she's finally content and ready for life - she's ripe, like fr-oo-oo-t. Spelling-wise, she said she liked how playful it looked (Fruit looked too serious apparently) and enjoys the concept of combining nature with artificiality of which this era's tour aesthetic, ~neon nature~, is based on. Also, why not? :P

Brandon Flowers - The Desired Effect
Well this is a bit amazing isn't it? Never really listened to Flamingo but I may just have to now.

Looking (season ii)
Just about to watch the Season 2 finale! As much as I loved the first series, this one has been so much greater. I really hope it's renewed - I don't want to say goodbye to all the characters just yet.

Marina and the Diamonds 'FROOT'
Omg. The rate I did included all of her songs! I'll try and find the link to it. EDIT: Found it http://mermaidvssucker.tumblr.com/marinasorter *.* Here's mine: I'd say on the whole it's pretty accurate, but there's a few amazing tracks near the bottom which should *technically* have the same praise as some of my top 15 but I suppose that's just the cons of having such a great back catalogue.

Marina and the Diamonds 'FROOT'
Yeah, it's her best received album yet - it's currently standing at 78 on Metacritic whilst TFJ is 68 and Electra Heart is 57 (both criminally underrated). Also, I found this app that ranks all your favourite Marina songs: http://jesseepinkman.tumblr.com/marianasong The difficulty in choosing between two songs really does highlight how glorious her discography really is.

Marina and the Diamonds 'FROOT'
Same here! I was convinced she was going to be #1 and it was just a question of whether she'll be able to outsell Electra Heart's first week or not. Ah well, she's safe from being dropped and her worldwide sales - particularly the US - more than make up for it.

Marina and the Diamonds 'FROOT'
See, with Marina, I can see why some people might be disappointed with a track in relation to older songs but I don't think I could genuinely saw any of them were "poor". Especially when factoring in Marina writing it by herself and coproducing. If Forget is poor, even with its glorious 1,2,hit of the extended middle 8 and outro - particularly the lyrics and vocals, then so is every song released this year (~slight hyperbole).

Of Monsters and Men - Crystals
XUClIslXKZo Glorious. Such a welcomed return, My Head is an Animal is definitely in my all time top 10.

Marina and the Diamonds 'FROOT'
Up to #1 now which is pretty damn impressive if the preorders really don't count towards its initial position. Here's hoping for sales higher than Electra Heart.
