Welcome To New York (Taylor's Version) Although I have been listening to a lot of Evermore the last few weeks since it feels like the season for it, I will need to look at my Last.fm at the end of the year to see where the numbers land by the end of December.
  2. That was quite the ordeal! After waiting in the lounge for 40 minutes the server threw me out. I gave up but then decided to try going on my phone and got through instantly and managed to get to seated tickets for Glasgow.
  3. Maybe she's saving the fifth one that's not named for an announcement and music video?

It's very unique in that it's a two minute long instrumental. It became very popular on Tik Tok and charted in the top 100 as a result.

  7. I think so! I got a code for Tickemaster and my friend got one for AXS, I went in 30 mintues early and she 5 mintues early. She got the tickets in 6 mintues when I still had a few thousand in front of me in my queue.
  8. Although recent events certainly won't have helped, to be honest I 100% believe she was sincere she is resigning for personal reasons. After eight years in the top job (and seven before that as deputy first minister) she probably is just totally burnt out at this point and figured she would go now while she is still relatively popular. The question is what happens now with no obvious successor. I imagine there will be plenty of candidates, many of who will be relative unknowns. It will be a genuinely interesting contest to watch. The SNP certainly has internal factions, pobably most notably in the last few years along gender self ID lines but also radical/gradual independence strategy and the more classic typical left/centrist/right as well. Depending on which candidates stand and are accepted it could be quite a divisive contest.
  9. Dear Readee felt like the obvious choice here since I don't dislike it but it's probably the worst. It was far harder to choose the second one but I decided on Hits Different for not being available for most people (I've only managed to hear sped up versions so I don't know what it really sounds like!).
  10. Personally, I don't think any of the songs are bad but I voted for You're On Your Own, Kid (Strings Remix) and Sweet Nothing (Piano Remix) as I don't feel they add much to the album. My last vote was close between Glitch and Dear Reader, I decided to go with the latter as I find it a bit less memorable.

I'm genuinely so interested to see what happens next, will this era bring renewed interest in Sam as an artist and multiple hits or was Unholy just a one off because of Tik Tok.

Yes that's definitely right. I used to listen to it regularly then it disappeared for a long while. I used to check every now and then and was happy to see it come back recently. It's one of my favourite songs from that time so I was happy to see it go Silver here.

I quite liked it the first minute or so, I kept listening expecting an explosive chorus but then it just doesn't go anywhere and the Ed feature really adds nothing. I don't know, overall the whole thing just feels like it doesn't quite fit together which is a bit of a shame honestly.

They really should just delay the CD release to the vinyl shipping by this point, it would make sense now.
  16. Me too. I think it's easy to take streaming for granted now but compared to the download/CD era it's incredible value for money. It might have ruined the charts but for the (legal) access to music and convience I could never go back now.
  17. I'm really enjoying this. As said above, it kind of sounds like a combination of all the different eras to me. I love the way she uses her voice!
  18. +3 Olivia Rodrigo - SOUR +2 Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever +1 Taylor Swift - Fearless (Taylor's Version)
  19. Dermot Kennedy (or his record label) have been really good at avoiding ACR with the timed releases of new remixes and of course taking advantage of the slightly illogical post-Christmas resets. Better Days really has had amazing longevity lasting more than half a year in the top 100 and 19 weeks in the top 40, more than his other hits.
  20. The thing is, any combined units with a ratio of streaming to sales will always be extremely arbitrary (alongside the difference in paid/free streams). Although I understand the desire for continuity the difference between the sales/streaming eras make any comparison meaningless and the chart itself is distorted with ACR, paid/free streams ratio and the three track rule anyway. Ideally I would just have separate lists (and certifications) for sales and actual streams.

  22. This ended up being a really difficult choice to narrow down, honesty I enjoyed most of the songs here! 25. This has been a really interesting thread to read and reflect on! If we are including traditional songs I'd say Auld Lang Syne must be pretty much universally known at least in English speaking countries. I also know the melody has been adapted in parts of Europe and also Japan for sporting anthems and similar. On another note, My Heart Will Go On must also be extremely well heard given Titanic is one of the highest grossing films of all time, has been seen all over the world and still continues to be popular with younger people.
