'9 to 5' playing just as I'm logging off at work (well, after an 8:30 to 5 day, close enough x) feels fitting! This is the first country song I ever remember loving as a kid and it's still great now so pleased it's finally a top 40 hit. RIP Dolly!

Over the moon that Fontaines D.C. have a top 20 hit to their name On first listen I didn't find this quite as striking as their last lead (although not many things are as standout as 'Starburster' tbh), although was intrigued by the unexpected synth direction. However, many plays later and I absolutely love this now!

Looks like we have triple Dolly in the top 20 indeed! What an impressive outpouring of love in a pretty short window.

Interesting back-to-back there - RAYE looking for her husband because the wedding has been stopped?!

Three fresh songs in a row?! Good for Ashe achieving another top 40 hit. I like this more than her last one!

Oh these lyrics are pretty dark! Quite enjoying the words in addition to those lovely strings.

Unsurprisingly Dolly Parton is confirmed ❤️

Afternoon all I'm excited for any potential Dolly impact and to find out where Fontaines D.C. land today! My top 3 songs from each throwback top 10 chart: 2025 01 Chappell Roan - The Subway 02 Justin Bieber - DAISIES 03 Olivia Dean - Man I Need 2021 01 Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever 02 Lil Nas X - INDUSTRY BABY (feat. Took me a while to discover it was a Richard X production.

Wow well done John, Rollo and Tylky for your 39s yesterday 🥳 today's game: Round 1: 39 Round 2: 27 (didn't get: Diana Ross, The Four Tops) 3-in-10: 3 (Smooth Operator, Your Love Is King, The Sweetest Taboo)

I also had not realised that every sentence in 'When Will I See You Again' was a question, mind blown! 'Band of Gold' is my favourite of the three to drop out yesterday. It's interesting how all of 10cc's chart toppers sound absolutely nothing like each other! Why thank you! Madonna - 'Frozen' was the overall winner I made a playlist out of the top 100 results at the time:

'Une seule vie' is out now! The verses remind me a bit of 'True Disaster' by Tove Lo ❤️

Consider me hyped 💘 Love both 'What You Want' and 'Dis-le' (both made top 10 in my personal chart <3) and now Polachek + Soulwax on board?! Yessssssss

Sorry for double post but as a RHPS fan it's lovely to see some appreciation for Tim Curry, albeit in sad circumstances, what a talent: 54+184 Sweet Transvestite 118 Time Warp 157 I'm Going Home The soundtrack is #6 in the albums 💋💄👠🖤🕊️

I'll give the launch night a go but yeah must say my enthusiasm has nosedived after how much of a non-event last year was, good winner aside

Dolly has the whole Spotify top 3 today with 'Jolene', '9 to 5' and 'Islands in the Stream' ❤️ 'Jolene' #1 with 522k streams

RIP Tim Curry Rocky Horror Picture Show impact: 125 Sweet Transvestite 132 Time Warp 'Time Warp' is obviously a classic but Tim isn't on this song so I'm glad his most defining moment in the film is higher.

Wow, once on the forum we had a mammoth 'BuzzJack's Favourite Song' event and I broke down my votes into a top 5 of each decade, to help the task seem less overwhelming and decided my top 5 favourite songs of the 1970s were: Are 'Friends' Electric? I Feel Love Layla Life On Mars? Wuthering Heights ...so I'm rather fond of two songs that have fallen back-to-back here ('The Model' is right up there as well but I syphoned it off to the '80s as I associate it more with that decade) Unreal that 'Wuthering Heights' came from the mind of someone so young. What an achievement and really paved the way for female artists too, as aforementioned. Kate's vocals on that song are some of the most striking I've ever heard. Elsewhere, I really enjoy the storytelling and majestic production. Overall a unique, spellbinding debut. I also love that it recently crept back into the top 40 off the back of the Wuthering Heights movie. 'I Feel Love' is a real landmark moment as well. Moroder's genius on full display with that sophisticated disco synth production and Donna really sells those sensual vocals. I can't imagine how futuristic this must've sounded at the time! ...'The Floral Dance' is decidedly less ground-breaking but I like this instrumental version more than the one with Terry Wogan on vocals at least, bless him. 'Knowing Me Knowing You' is my favourite from yesterday's trio! A classic ABBA moment that hasn't been rinsed as much as some of their other #1s. 'Stand By Your Man' isn't really my thing, but found a way to impact my life, via Lana Del Rey covering it on tour when I saw her at Wembley last year! So much respect to Tammy for later jumping on The KLF's 'Justified & Ancient', if only that was a chart-topper too. This version of 'Spirit In The Sky' is my favourite of all its #1 iterations although the sitar laced Gareth Gates version is a guilty pleasure

'Together In Electric Dreams' is my very own 'Angels' aka a record I always forget didn't peak at #1, as it feels so massive and timeless! Going to finally drum this fact into my head now. Good to know it wasn't blocked by anything bad, as I like Wham!'s 'Freedom' and Paul McCartney's 'No More Lonely Nights', but this blows them out of the water and would be my favourite of this section too. Love the dreamy synth production, Oakey's ever commanding vocal and the long distance lyrics. 'Drive' is a wonderful runner-up too, its slow burn sound really appeals to me and the lyrics are all the more evocative with the famous Live Aid footage. I'd agree with the Spotify streams that 'Shout to the Top' feels like The Style Council's signature song, probably because the riff has been used in media. I really like it myself although 'Long Hot Summer' just about pips it as my favourite from them. 'I Feel For You' is great (and what a line-up with the Prince origins, Chaka, Melle Mel and Stevie) although I think 'Never Ending Story' just beats it as my favourite here - what a beautiful, fantastical and unexpected turn in Limahl's discography. I agree the backing vocals really add to it and Moroder is on fire once again with the production.

Well done all for the strong scores yesterday, jumping back in today: Round 1: 30 (didn't get: Linx, Andy Fairweather Low) Round 2: 33 (didn't get: ELO - annoying miss, The Isley Brothers) 3-in-10: 3 (Time After Time, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, She Bop)

It was pretty random to watch Robin Thicke become such a talking point for a short while, after vaguely being aware of him through 2007's 'Lost Without U' via Now 67 and the song 'When I Get You Alone' which had been covered on Glee. Almost as retrospectively random as Kendrick Lamar scoring his first top 40 hit with a feature on Thicke's 'Give It 2 U'! I think I was a bit too young to properly grasp how inappropriate the lyrics of 'Blurred Lines' were at the time, plus it was a completely different era, pre-#MeToo - so it got a pass. My prom was in 2013 and everyone went wild for this song when it came on, as you'd expect for the biggest of the year. But what a fall from grace it has had since then. I agree that production-wise it is good but the lyrics do leave a bad taste, so it's not a song I'm in a rush to revisit nowadays. The thumbnail of that 1D video is another time capsule! Nobody cared that the world's biggest boyband was goofing around with a Tory PM but there would definitely be discourse nowadays. Like Harry's 'RIP Baroness Thatcher x' tweet from the same year randomly getting dragged up from time to time. Musically, I adore the original 'One Way Or Another' (although triggered that it booted me out of the Pop Factor contest on this site when paired against Nelly Furtado's 'Maneater' ) and 'Teenage Kicks' is great too, but this mash-up falls flat. I still dipped in and out of Saturday Night Takeaway at the time so recall that PJ and Duncan performance well! Musically it is pretty naff but I still loved the randomness of that chart moment
