  1. I guess that's a fair assessment  funny enough I know her through my sister who, as you know, has been entered into BJSC previously as well :P
  2. So the writer of the Icelandic entry (Lay Low) contacted me because she saw my English translation of "Með Hækkandi Sól" (posted earlier in this thread as well as on Reddit) and loved it. She and the girls apparently want to incorporate it (or maybe just parts of it, not sure) into the English version of their song?? :cheeseblock: Idk what exactly this means, I think they're still gonna be performing it in Icelandic in Turin, but they might post my lyrics on the app or something??
  3. It was a real chance at some good points from me so hopefully you will qualify and maybe finally get some points from me in a final! I even know Ragga from RVKDTR personally, she's such a sweetheart.
  4. Watching this right now. It has some great qualities but still feels a bit like every other talent show. It doesn’t help that with only NBC showing this it limits the part where the broadcaster of each country can kind of promote the contest in said country. I think this could have worked perfectly as a national final precursor to the US competing in something like Eurovision or a Pan-American contest, but I’m not sure if this can work in the current format. Also, did Alexa perform live? Felt like she was lip syncing. The song was good though but I’m a bit too used to the ESC rules that it’s hard to fully enjoy it. Twenty people on stage? Lip syncing? Ad breaks after every damn song? No thanx. So far, based on the “live” performances: 1. Oklahoma (8/10) 2. Arkansas (6/10) 3. Minnesota (4/10) (Havent gotten further than this)
  5. I wonder who was so cheap! It ~definitely~ wasn't me. In other completely unrelated news I need to find a new entry. Tempted to send a joke entry for the first time ever
  6. Confirmed but idk if I'll change it later. Didn't have anything lined up so went with something that's been on my potentials list for a while.
  7. Bré, this is quite far removed from anything they released as Sísí Ey. I've seen comparisons to First Aid Kit and Calm After The Storm (NL 2014) both which I think are somewhat fair. But I think the lyrics to this song are hauntingly beautiful. I tried my best to translate them so that the metaphors hold the same meaning (instead of just a direct translation that doesn't really make sense) in order to showcase the beauty of this song. Knowing what they are singing about may potentially elevate the song for some, so here you go: Pounding waves on quiet souls Heavy pain outlined by wounds of sorrow Enticed desire, burning like flames Hiding in plain sight - secretly - hush-hush Midst the twilight have a look Alluring freedom inching closer now Though the night sky rushes in Silent questions, plague the mind - hush-hush In dark of winter - the sun is rising Melting of the frozen heart - so warm In dark of winter - spring is coming Warming your embrace again Shadows of shorter days engage Moving slowly every breath you take Warming performance of a song Spreading outwards with a sigh - hush-hush In dark of winter - the sun is rising Melting of the frozen heart - so warm In dark of winter - spring is coming Warming your embrace again Now she's taking off Racing, she's bound for glory Finally she will Find internal peace In dark of winter - the sun is rising Melting of the frozen heart - so warm In dark of winter - spring is coming Warming your embrace again

  9. I could very well imagine these ten qualifying from the first semi final: ALBANIA ARMENIA AUSTRIA GREECE ICELAND LATVIA NETHERLANDS NORWAY PORTUGAL UKRAINE Borderline In: Albania, Armenia, Greece, Iceland, Portugal Borderline Out: Switzerland, Croatia and Moldova. Hard to say reg. Armenia atm. I'll see if I change my mind after the final version.
  10. I’m surprised but not disappointed. I wanted RVKDTR to win and was really hoping they would but this was my second fave. They are such professionals and have beautiful harmonies. Could do well but could also get lost in the semis. I don’t think there is any other country song this year is there? So that could help. These are the same girls that made this song 9 yrs ago, which i think was in BJSC at some point: Z9ySLikFh8o
  11. I’ll be happy either way but I reckon we get RVKDætur in Torino!
  12. omg only three points away from a new peak :cheeseblock: Congrats Altyr and well deserved 2nd place for Beaver! Both were in my top 2 so I'm happy to see them in the actual top 2 (albeit in reverse order). In fact Persephonia & Summericia were the only two songs that I didn't either vote for or put in my commisserations so overall very happy with these results! Thank you everyone who voted for Ylona
  13. 1) shocked at the pop domination so far. didn't think this still happened after what feels like a long pop drought 2) could I possibly get a new peak this month? Surprised to see myself in the top 10 but I suspect that could very well change  3) thanks for the votes everyone so far, especially the 18s from Bellamia and Scherzland!
  14. I actually quite like your entry and I hope I'm wrong (same goes for a few other songs in the bottom half of my odds). I don't think it will be in last place though even though I don't think it is likely to win. -_-
  15. Here are my *bound to be way off* predictions. These are based on a survey sent out to the inhabitants of Mosquetania when asked who will win this month's edition. As always they have massive faith in our own entry but note these are only about how likely I think a song is to win, not where I think they will place. The odds probably don't make sense to anyone who knows how odds work but I'm not one of those people so I just tried to make them fit based on the percentage odds of qualifying I had given them and by looking at the odds at eurovisionworld lmao. But yeah I do think it's gonna come down to Dobago and Beaverdonia tbh. 5/2 ○ Dobago ○ ascendant vierge - Influenceur 4/3 ○ Beaverdonia ○ ODESZA - The Last Goodbye (feat. Bettye LaVette) 3/1 ○ Altyr Muunilinst ○ Leony - Remedy 4/1 ○ Kluminican Republic ○ LVL1 - FVN! 8/1 ○ D'yermak'er ○ French Braids & George Maple - Heartbeat --------------------- 12/1 ○ Aesthetica ○ Rêve - CTRL + ALT + DEL 14/1 ○ Sovarasma ○ SARAPATA - Fikus (feat. 16. There have been so many songs this month that have made me go:
  17. Voting shortly! Almost halfway through my second listen through so I should have my votes ready in an hour or so.
  18. Another month, another betting odds thread where I get no hype
  19. omg not Hendinia winning but losing the crown via deduction  Thanks for the votes and top10 placement everyone  Congratulations Jade   well deserved!
  20. omg only medal positions so far from my three voters  thanks Altyr, Sovarasma & RdÁ * Oops didn't see the 2 pts from Flynnonda as well! Thank you
  21. omg how did I not think of that
  22. I honestly have no idea. The songs are all so different. Personally I hope Sigga, Beta & Elín win and think they have a chance of doing so given they'll have the support of a lot of older voters (their parents are very famous & well respected singers). The jury should be kind to them as well. Reykjavíkurdætur have a real chance of winning as well and I'd be happy with that too. They are popular in Iceland but also have some haters as well. They could storm the televote but idk how well the jury will take to them as it's a bit chaotic. Stefán or Katla could be surprise winners in a Ari Ólafs-esque victory with seemingly big fanbases for the televote and they're both pretty jury friendly. I'd be a bit disappointed if either of these wins as they're quite forgettable and generic but they're not bad songs so I guess proper staging could really sell either one. Amarosis are very cute and the song is catchy but I don't think they'll win because I'd be surprised if the televote support them enough. But then again I have no idea how the jury/televote split will work as often they are very uneven so honestly who knows lmao. If I were a betting man I'd say most likely winner is Reykjavíkurdætur, followed by Sigga, Beta & Elín, followed by Stefán, then Katla and finally Amarosis.
  23. Omg   target audience or not that is lovely to hear!
  24. Lex!! You better vote girl, the pop block needs you!!
