  1. Omg albania, i also drew that in our game here at home
  2. I’m fully expecting my predictions to be way off  but I’d be surprised if Italy is top 5 with the juries as a rock song because they tend to be quite polarising. How often has that happened in a final? I mainly based it off Turkey 2010 which I feel is a similarly accessible rock song and they placed 8th with the juries.
  3. Kórinn, Laugardalshöllin and Egilshöll (most likely) can all host upwards of 15.000 standing. Bieber was in Kórinn with IIRC 18-20k people two nights in a row both sitting and standing. We get this question all the time and it's always the same answer from RUV: we can host if we win. Australia even asked us to host in case they ever win and AFAIK we accepted the proposal. Link (in Icelandic)
  4. Oh lmao tbh I didn't listen to his interview with the hosts  I suppose that may work for sympathy votes too then but I really doubt he's the only contestant to have lost a loved one to Covid-19
  5. I think what people may find endearing in Daði is that he's quite humble and doesn't really want sympathy (e.g. his "if people could stop asking us how awful we're feeling, that would be nice" tweet) which may actually have the opposite effect. People are often more sympathetic to people who aren't asking for sympathy than the ones who blatantly use it to their advantage  But then again I imagine this only applies to people who actually follow the behind-the-scenes stuff. I had no idea about Blas' grandma but I think it's hard for people to ignore the fact that Iceland's green room isn't in the main arena so they'll be more inclined to find out, prompting them to feel sympathetic when they read about the situation if they didn't know about it already.
  6. My final pre-show prediction.
  7. That's why we need to make Iceland win because we have to see how they'll handle it  You're forgetting about the sympathy appeal. I can guarantee you a lot of people will feel sorry for them when the commentators mention why they're in a different room to all the other competitors and will vote for them for that reason. Not necessarily how I want Iceland to win Eurovision but if it happens I'll happily take it as a consolation prize for our should-have-been victory last year.
  8. I think France is being vastly overestimated as per usual and will wind up somewhere between 11th and 15th. Surely they will do well in the jury vote but I think televoters will pay it dust. I have yet to meet a single casual Eurovision fan who likes it  Malta also is being overhyped as the song and performance doesn't really offer anything new to the viewer. It'll do well for sure, but I don't think it will win. While I love Ukraine I do think that the juries will not give it a high enough score to win. I can see a 6th-10th situation for theme where they're in the top 5 in the televote at least. I'm leaning more and more towards Iceland managing to take the crown. It would be very fitting IMO. His song was a huge hit last year and a strong contender for the crown but obviously that never happened. Then now a few hours before he's supposed to step on stage for the jury show he learns that he can't perform live and has to use a rehearsal footage which thankfully was AMAZING. Sure, the song isn't as good as TAT but it's still a great song (and like the lyrics say "how does it keep getting better" with each play?). I know Daði's not everyone's cup of tea but that's going to be the case no matter who wins  For me the songs I can still see winning are Iceland, Italy and Switzerland and I do think these will be the top 3.
  9. I think it would be far more interesting being able to see the YT views excluding views from artist's own country.
  10. Oh wow they really just threw Malta out of the running like that
  11. Omg what are those of y’all scoring Iceland so low smoking? I’m still reeling from how amazing that performance was, I want to cry
  12. Duncan should bring the trophy to Jói's (the Gagnamagnið member who was infected) hotel room since both of them have covid and they could show it on zoom after the results. Problem solved.
  13. The rehearsals didn't get great feedback because Gjon's interpretive dance failed to impress a lot of people (myself included). It was just so jarring and didn't fit this type of song  I'm guessing he dropped it or changed it up for the jury show and in turn started rising again. Song-wise it's definitely one of the most worthy winning songs so hopefully the performance keeps up.
  14. Aw. Hope Duncan doesn't get too sick! Now I'm even more convinced Daði is the most fitting winner this year.
  15. Especially as Ben & Tan's new single Iron Heart is really good and would have easily qualified tonight methinks.
  16. Want: 01. San Marino: 'Adrenalina' by Senhit (ft. Flo Rida) 02. Estonia: 'The Lucky One' by Uku Suviste 03. Czech Republic: 'Omaga' by Benny Cristo 04. Greece: 'Last Dance' by Stefania 05. Austria: 'Amen' by Vincent Bueno 06. Poland: 'The Ride' by Rafał 07. Moldova: 'Sugar' by Natalia Gordienko 08. Iceland: '10 Years' by Daði og Gagnamagnið 09. Serbia: 'Loco Loco' by Hurricane 10. Georgia: 'You' by Tornike Kipiani 11. Albania: 'Karma' by Anxhela Peristeri 12. Portugal: 'Love Is On My Side' by The Black Mamba 13. Bulgaria: 'Growing Up Is Getting Old' by Victoria 14. Finland: 'Dark Side' by Blind Channel 15. Latvia: 'The Moon Is Rising' by Samanta Tīna 16. Switzerland: 'Tout l'Univers' by Gjon's Tears 17. Denmark: 'Øve os på hinanden' by Fyr og Flamme Think: No idea. But songs #1 - #4 all qualifying will absolutely never happen, I know that much  Portugal and Austria are probably the most likely to qualify out of those non-bolded ones above. Denmark for some reason as well but I just cannot wrap my head around potentially enough people watching this show, seeing Denmark and thinking "yes, this is the best song of the night and I want to spend money to support it"
  17. Tbh i would have preferred these 10 qualifiers. I love Tusse but I don’t love that song. I could very well see another Damce You Off situation in the final with it. Surprised The Roop aren’t higher.
  18. Omg i qualified! Idk why I was fully expecting to DNQ tonight
  19. While I think the idea behind Ireland's staging was great I think the execution was quite underwhelming. It looked a bit awkward at points and it didn't help that poor Lesley looked a bit nervous. The people with me didn't like the staging at all, we all rated the performance on staging, performance and song and they all gave the staging low scores and it wound up in last place for all five of us.
  20. The second rehearsal footage will be used which is at least good news as they supposedly did really well there and won the press poll that day.
  21. Am I the only one who was underwhelmed by Destiny last night? I liked the staging but her vocals weren't as on point as I was expecting. Not to say that they were bad or even average - they were good but she sounded a bit nervous. It was interesting watching it with a few friends who hadn't heard any of the songs of the contest yet because they all said they didn't understand why this was a winning contender. They were all really impressed by Efendi though saying they got major winner vibes. And that was coming from a really mixed group of people (1 gay guy, 1 straight guy, 1 older woman and one younger woman) so I think Efendi's final placement could surprise on saturday!
  22. It honestly would be fitting after this messy last year for the winner to be someone who failed to participate due to a COVID infection but we'll see. It sucks they never got to show off their new costumes that they were saving for tonight.
  23. I guess we can forget being a winning contender then :( damn this sucks.
  24. Omg i actually managed to predict all 10 here post-performances. I almost chose Croatia over Sweden but switched last minute.
