Song is stuck in my head!

Every artiste cares about the charts. Forget all that talk of making music for themselves/hard-core fans etc etc. Good chart placement = more money, fame, and other usual indices of success. It's all strategy to prevent disappointment.

Yes The Cure is a solid bop. And it's actually a tough song to sing; little wonder there's a lot of prerecorded vocals in that performance. I don't know if the Apple Music performance was completely live?

Hindsight always makes it look easy and predictable. There's no strategy that guarantees success or flopping. Hits have happened with different strategies. CDs for Bounce Back were released weeks after its debut - didn't stop it from underperforming and dropping off the charts quickly. They threw in everything at Sweet Melody's first week of release - remixes, music video on release day (something LM never did), YET its peak came 12 weeks later, organically. Granted, DSL's first 2 weeks are disappointing. It doesn't necessarily mean they've done something wrong. I'm not sat here hoping it'll become a hit; but I'm not ruling it out. Stream it if you like it, and let's see what the coming weeks will bring.

I haven't lost hope yet. It's still week 2, and she's still on HHUK.

Spice Girls are in a different league. With just 2 albums in a space of 20 months-ish, they achieved such ground-breaking success. All of these other groups were mirrored after them. So it's no surprise all members had some degree of solo success. Also, top 10 then and top 10 now aren't quite the same. The industry has grown out of proportion.

Well, not really, as it's fallen off top 40. Although it could be argued there are many new releases in the past few weeks.

And I don't think it's the video. Replay value of a video is subjective. Hair music video with all its views, couldn't take the single to top 10. Even recently, the combined views of both versions of Confetti ft Saweetie is way more than Heartbreak Anthem 's, yet Heartbreak Anthem did way better. People don't stream songs on spotify or apple music because they like the video. Will see what subsequent weeks bring.

Yes it hasn't quite flopped yet, but it's a tad disappointing considering all the positive reviews I've seen in all forums. The last Little Mix song to get such overwhelming praise as this was Sweet Melody. Add that to the hype about she being the next Dua Lipa and how big the launch of the solo career would be, plus how everyone who heard it jumped in, etc etc. If there were no CDs, I hate to think where it would have debuted! I wonder if it would have been so if this exact song was released by Perrie or Jade? As I said, it hasn't flopped yet. Sometimes things change in subsequent weeks, so I am keeping fingers crossed

And I'd hate it if this debuts at number 11. I hate that chart position with every fibre of my being lol.

Yes the video with the ASH dancers is so lovely and cute. I'm sure it counts towards her streams anyway. Despite her over-explaining, I still like that her first solo video tells a story of her re-birth. Sensible, I would even say.

Unfortunately, solo stars from a successful group keep getting questions about the group and getting back together, etc. Unless the star is in the success realms of Harry Styles or Beyonce, wherein the questions are minimal.

Same mixers that couldn't save Between Us era? 😆 Seriously though, I was banking on the efforts we were told the label/management had put in. Fanbase is hardly enough - apart from some of the bigger names in the industry. It's still day 2, so it's not really over. Fingers crossed.

Maybe I'm just out of touch, but I've never seen an artiste put in so much effort in explaining a music video a day before its release and on the day of release. She's even done a scene by scene dissection with BBC R1. Or is it all due to her rumoured imminent trip to America to promote the single? Having said that, I think the video is good. Might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't seen all the explanations. I really like that she's sought of introducing herself as an individual via the video. Yes, It's not jaw-droppingly finger-licking good, but I wasn't expecting that. I would expect more visually from Jade (Gosh I hate that I'm having to compare). And to be honest, I'm not yet used to seeing each girl as a soloist. It always feels like something isn't complete - I hope it doesn't come across that way to the General Public. On the contrary, the song itself sounds whole. My friend heard it today and thought it was a Little Mix song with all three/four girls. I hope it does well for her.

The capital FM interview gave some interesting revelations. I'll see how the week evolves...

My only issue with this song is that it's lyrically weak. But most people wouldn't care anyway!

It appears so. This seems to be a well-planned roll-out. Girl has worked so hard!

Debut top 3, will peak top 3 (voted will peak #1 cos I'm praying for that!), won't peak first week (Dave, Drake and maybe Doja effect), but will definitely spend over 16 weeks in top 40.
