  9. 19th September Edition (Doing this a week early as on holiday next week)

2004- Joss Stone- You Had Me

'You Had Me' was the lead single from Joss Stone's second studio album 'Mind Body & Soul'. This went on to peak at #9 in the UK which was her highest-peaking single to date. One that I rarely hear nowadays on the radio, I think when this came out, my class ssemmed to be obseesssed with this song and probably thought that this song was going to be the second coming, I thought it was all right when it came out albeit not the best song ever, nor the wrong song ever. I was in the middle with this song.

2005- Status Quo- The Party Ain't Over Yet

'The Party Ain't Over Yet' was the lead single from Status Quo's twenty-seventh studio album of the same name. This went on to peak at #11 in the UK, can't say that I remember this from Status Quo, it was probably one that my Dad would enjoy listen to. Hearing it is OK from Status Quo. This was a cover from an American country singer Patty Loveless.

    Original:

2008- Kid Rock- All Summer Long

'All Summer Long' was the third single from Kid Rock's seventh studio album 'Rock n Roll Jesus'. This would go on and become Kid Rock's biggest ever hit by peaking at #1 in the UK where it would stay for one week before being knocked off the #1 spot by Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl'. This would contain an sample of Lynyrd Skynyrd 'Sweet Home Alabama'. Probably in the very minority on here but I was a fan of this when came out during the summer of 2008, what a summer that was. It is a song that I would still listen on a summer playlist. In the US this would peak at #23 in the Billboard Hot 100. I think the sample of 'Sweet Home Alabama' works very well on this.

  14. This Week: (Doing this a day earlier)

    2002- Jurgen Vries- The Theme

'The Theme' was from Britsh record producer Jurgen Vries whose real name is Darren Tate. This went on to peak at #12 in the UK. Not one that I can remember when this came out, but having discovered this, this is absolute prefection from him.

    2006- Muse- Starlight

'Starlight' was the second single Muse's fourth studio album 'Black Holes and Revelations'. This would go on and peak at #13 in the UK. This is one that I haven't heard for a while, this is all right from Muse. One review on NME said this about 'Starlight':

but deep down this is a tune so chart-hungry it’s virtually dry-humping JK And Joel’s legs.

    That's harsh.

2009- David Guetta ft Kelly Rowland- When Love Takes Over

'When Love Takes Over' was the lead single from David Guetta's fourth studio album 'One Love' this would feature Kelly Rowland. This would go on and become David Guetta's first UK #1 and Kelly Rowland's second UK #1. This was probably one of the first to have the fake version with Airi L which would go on and peak at #22 in the UK. The original would also chart in the US by peaking at #76 in the Billboard Hot 100. This is such a fantastic song from David Guetta and Kelly Rowland. I also remember it for a certain trailer for the return of Big Brother on Channel 5 back in 2011.

    Fake Version:

    When Bruv Takes Over

  15. This Week: (Doing this a day earlier

    2002- Ashanti- Foolish

'Foolish' was the debut single from American singer Ashanti from her self-titled debut album. This would heavily sample DeBrage's 'Stay With Me'. This would go on and peak at #4 in the UK, in the US this would fare better where it would peak at #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 where it would stay there for ten straight weeks before knocked off by Nelly's 'Hot In Herre'. In the music video there would be cameos from rapper Ja Rule, music producer Irv Gotti. This was a great debut single from Ashanti.

    Sampled:

2002- Will Smith ft Tra-Knox- Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head)

'Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head) was the first single from Will Smith's third album 'Born to Reign'. This would go on and peak at #3 in the UK, in the US this would peak at #77 in the Billboard Hot 100. One that I haven't heard for quite a while but it still sounds great from Will Smith.

This would come 68th in my Hip-Hop Songs of the 2000s, and this is what I said about it at the time:

The song was part of the soundtrack for Men In Black II.

    2012- Wiley ft Ms.D- Heatwave

This from Wiley which featured Ms.D, this peaked at #1 in the UK, becoming Wiley's first UK #1. This did come 34th in my Hip-Hop Songs of the 2010s.

In 2020, he made antisemetic comments and was then dropped by his manager, he was later suspended on social media.

Since then, he had his MBE rescinded for assault and burglarly charges.

    Enough said.
