  1. hahaha, busted!
  2. It has me in it! WEIRD.
  3. CHEEKY! :o Anyways, I have decided that Nothing Lasts Forever is the closest thing to The Fame-era Gaga on this album.

The older I get the less I like my music to be anything but simples. And tbh the video had such a gorgeous bloke in it - I must have watched that about a 1000 times so the song got stuck in my head and I love it to bits.

hA! I think my timeline has been a bit like this - these being the periods over which I was stanning hard for the act. I think Suede, Manics, Radiohead, All Saints, Muse and Girls Aloud were the acts who people who know me automatically associated me with - "oh Andrew* - he's the GA-loon" etc 91-93 Queen & Roxette 93-97 Suede 94-01 Manics 95-98 Pulp 97-99 Radiohead, Spiritualized, David Bowie 97-01 All Saints 98-00 Hefner 98-05 Idlewild 99-06 Muse 00- Britney Spears (although her last good output was the Womanizer single) 02-05 Sugababes 04-09 Girls Aloud 04- Darren Hayes 05- The Knife 07- Dragonette
  6. I should receive my Natalia Kills - Perfectionist this week Won't do any more music shopping until Bright Light Bright Light's album is out
  7. I'm thinking Kevin and Scott should organize a gay swingers night at Nora's house and then she unexpectedly comes home, has a heart attack and falls into the fireplace and that sets the whole house on fire. A fitting tribute to all those 5 seasons. Last 5 minutes would just be people screaming while they burn to death. They will probably just settle for a world-flattening earthquake in the style of 2012

Well it was eventually a rather poor series, what else is there to say?

  12. I don't understand people's obsession with aligning popstars personalities with their musical ouput. Yeah, she's going through her third reincarnation but what was she supposed to do - accept the fact that her stuff in the form she was recording it in back then was not going to sell so it's better to pack up and join the army of Tesco's checkout girls? Do none of these NU-Popjustice obsessives take music at its face value any more? f*** the interviews and f*** the videos. Feel free to point me to the errors of my thinking. Or maybe I'm just trying to put my own approach to music on a pedestal and expect everyone to act the same. I dont know. I think I root for her because I really wanted this album to be GREAT by its own merits and it did not disappoint me in any way. I suppose that's why I take any criticism so personally that I really should stop arguing on her topic full stop
  13. 32? He looks at least 48...
  14. Well to be honest they all will forever be damned to their #2 status.... 4 LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE- Eminem Ft Rihanna - yeah it's a boring song and I'm glad it stayed off #1, at least it achieved a rare feat being YE #1 without reaching weekly #1. 3 BETTER IN TIME/ FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND- Leona Lewis 1 ROCKSTAR- Nickelback 2 AYO TECHNOLOGY- 50 Cent Featuring Justin Timberlake 7 NO U HANG UP/ IF THAT'S OK WITH YOU- Shayne Ward. Loved it back then. Cheese now. 6 FOUNDATIONS- Kate Nash 5 YOUR LOVE ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH- Manic Street Preachers
  15. Apart from the irreversably dead Elvis Presley KATE BUSH is pretty much the only act mentioned in this thread who is overdue an album (these reshuffled rereleases don't count). I'm happy Darren Hayes will be back soon! I think that's all. Still hope Girls Aloud will never reform for new material.

  17. I'm complimenting on the fact that you're not ashamed to put Same Difference in your Top 10! Your chart is just as fabulous as you are! RAINBOW POWER! Born This Way! (etc)
  18. I have given this album a jogging test now and I must say the entire "Side B" is equally as fabulous as the previously available stuff. The sound is so (enjoyably) ridiculously 90's at times (intro to Superficial could lifted from a Culture Beat album). There are so many little things I enjoy on this album - the way she says 'ackshident' during the "911 call" and I don't even find the four word 'chants' peculiar any more - that's just her way of lyric-writing and if she can express herself much better this way, who am I to look down on her. My fave four word chant is True Love First Touch on Nothing Lasts Forever. They are all probably pretty naff live (Sex Love Control Vanity definitely sounds funny during Mirrors acoustic version). If I Was God (current fave) is probably a song for those who are questioning whether her persona this time is genuine or not - the whole last minute of it is pretty much her apologising for being different again: Reality / I wasn't everything that you thought I was / Escape / It's not a lie / I just wanted to give you a best version of me / Fantasy / Ideology / Dishonesty / Trying to protect you from disappointment / Disappointment Although Jagged Little Pill was also a very 90's album, Acid Annie sticks like a sore thumb for its $h!tness. She does borrow alot from other current female stars, that's for sure - I'm getting Rihanna vibes from Broke, but overall her sound is a bit less polished than the other artists with huge budgets which makes Perfectionist a bit more modern for me. Best album since I don't know what - Night Work definitely, but maybe even as far back as Polly Scattergood or Blackout. I think it's the closest thing to the universally expected Blackout 2.0 anyone has managed to put out. 'Just because we're deep doesn't mean we can't enjoy the shallow' - that's my 90's summarised right there.
  19. Some shameless entries there! Did someone hold a stiletto on your neck when you put it together?

American Life is probably the only album of hers that I can listen to from the beginning to end without feeling the need to skip any tracks. AL, Hollywood, Nothing Fails and M&F would all be in my Madonna Top 10 should I ever have to compile one. Loved it then and love it now, can't say that Music and Confessions have stood the test of time so well and I've never had much time for any of her other full albums.

    I LIKE YOU!
  22. I expected more drama :( But not much of a video man. And the preview managed to make it look way more expensive than the end product was
  23. What? How? Where?
  24. Stupid as I am, I spent the last 20 minutes listening to the 6 tracks I already have from this - amazing opening run ANYWAYS! Hopefully the other 7 will keep the standard up!
