And I just thought of another idea, save another edit copy of the singles charts, put the songs into alphabetical order, delete all but the first line entries for each song - you then have a list of every new entry with the date from the last 60 years that you can use for Spotify etc and believe me there is absolutely NOTHING OCC can do about it! - Only problem is that there are 209370 lines to take out duplicate entries! The quickest way to do this would be to sort the songs into alphabetical order and highlight the first entry for each song in red - then you would see at a glance when the song was first released. This way it is still possible to go through the weekly charts, put the new releases into Spotify etc and listen to the new music each week as it came out. ChartStats lives on!

Yep delete column B, upload again and I don't think OCC can do anything because it's just a list of the songs that came out each week, not their chart positions.

Here's an idea, if anyone has the export from ChartStats and knows a SAFE filesharing site to upload it to, take out the chart positions to make it just a list of songs against each date and I'm pretty sure the OCC can't do anything about it, because without showing the chart positions it's not a chart. - People will have to number them themselves, but that's fine it's easy to do in Excel by dragging down the numbers from the first entry for each week using fill series and you're doing that for your own personal use on your own computer so not infringing OCC copyright. If anyone has time, highlight the new releases for each week too - this info is still available elsewhere for the moment. I think we've just found a workaround! ;)

Cheers, the more people who sign up the more of an irritation it will be to the OCC and I've deliberately named it Official UK Charts Campaign so as to come up whenever anyone searches for their Facebook page.

Now that OCC are censoring free speech you can air your views here. There is not much on there at the moment. I want to get as many people together and get some serious discussions going about what we can do to get OCC to put the full past UK Charts on their website for free. http://www.facebook.com/ukcharts

If like me you got the iLivid and Searchnu nasties trying to download the ChartStats file, these seem to help clear them up: Malwarebytes Anti Malware: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti...4-10804572.html Adwcleaner: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ (DON'T click on whatever is at the top as that's an ad!) If you've got iLivid or Searchnu get rid asap as these put you at risk of getting more nasties on your computer and ultimately cybercrime.

    That's what I did :)

What would be the point though unless they do it from outside the UK? Any site that gets noticed is going be cracked down on by the OCC legal team. If ChartStats could not survive when it had no ads, no site will. I wonder how long the remaining places where you can get chart info will last - OCC legal team are probably looking up the home addresses of the owners right now. I think we are about to see another major casualty of this OCC crackdown - another very popular site.

Is there anything we can do such as getting prominent people who are fans of the charts, MPs involved to put pressure on OCC? Unless we make life difficult for them we won't get our charts back.

I didn't notice until it was too late! :( That's the first time that's got me - normally you can easily tell fake download buttons. 2nd time I looked I just saw a tiny "Ad" at the bottom right of them! GRRRR! Got to go through the registry on my laptop now and try to get rid of it. Won't get fooled by that ever again!

I've lost quite a bit! I've also saved all the scans from that other site and all of the charts posted on another forum ;) So hopefully as long as I've got everything I'll be able to finish my project adding every good UK hit I can from the last 60 years to Spotify :)

I got the files after being deceived by that Sendspace site into downloading horrible stuff I don't want first! It doesn't indicate the new releases for each week though which is what I need for Spotify. I also discovered a backdoor link on ChartStats and quickly managed to save the full 1990s charts on Wednesday evening which I'm really glad because the site with the scanned charts doesn't have every week for the 1990s. I was going to grab 2000 - 2012 on Thursday night with the hope of saving every chart from 1952 - 2012 to my computer this weekend before word got out but to my dismay the back door link I found had been removed 24 hours later - I wish I had found it a week ago! :(

If only there had been any warning that the site was to be taken down I would have saved every page of the ChartStats singles and album charts to my computer for my own personal use.

And OCC's response is to change their Facebook settings so that people can't post their concerns and delete all negative comments off the site.

That sendspace site is infected with malware! Instead of downloading the file I wanted I've ended up with something dreadful on my computer ilivid virus and searchnu browser hijacker that I did not want and is going to take ages to remove :( - I just clicked Download that was it, there was no indication that it was anything other than what I was intending to download. I am extremely careful and having used Chartstats for years I trusted this and this is the first time in 5/12 years that anything has managed to get on my laptop. It's not Matt's fault, it's the site.

Hi Matt, I know that what has happened has been a devastating blow to you and everyone who used ChartStats, but don't give up, your site can still be the most comprehensive guide to every UK single and album release and even though you are forbidden from putting it in chart form you can surely still list every new entry and re-entry week by week from the last 60 years - I don't think they can stop your site from being a guide to UK releases. At least that way everyone who wants to discover British music from the last 60 years, still can. Thanks for everything you did. Thanks to you, I discovered and rediscovered thousands of songs that I would never have been able to otherwise. I'm really sorry that OCC did this, but as I said don't let the last 8 1/2 years be in vain, you can still make the site the #1 guide to UK music, something that OCC will never ever provide. The music industry, musicians and music fans need such a resource. Meanwhile everyone there is a campaign to put pressure on the OCC to make the UK chart archive public. Please join it and together we might be able to achieve something. facebook.com/ukcharts

I think it would be a pity if people could no longer discover all the music that I did as a result of ChartStats. Here is every UK single I found on Spotify using ChartStats - about 12,000 in total from 1952 - 1989. Copy and paste links into your browser: 1952 - 1979: open.spotify.com/user/skywave/playlist/5uOLYZzG76mUX14RXIUPgB 1980 - 1989: open.spotify.com/user/skywave/playlist/2bicTYP41LMhRhX0FbaRMS Unfortunately I did not manage to add the 1990s in time, though UKMix have the Top 75 for the 1990s, sadly not the Top 100 like ChartStats.
  18. RED KITE posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
I've saved every page of that UKMix thread to my computer - OCC will force them to delete that as well if they see it. I'm not sure yet though if it has every Top 75 chart from the 1990s and 2000s, if not my project is finished :(

Sadly it doesn't there are a few weeks missing and some where only the Top 40 is available (or can be read)

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the UK singles charts there is now a Facebook campaign to keep up the pressure on the OCC - We will not go away until they give us what we want: (copy and paste) facebook.com/ukcharts

If OCC posted the Top 200 archive on their site and invited sponsors they would get far more money than charging people for individual weekly charts. If you want the whole lot as I do it's way beyond the reach of what most people can afford. They could have offered to license Chart Stats (Chart Stats could have got advertisers on board to pay for it) - but no.

There's an addition problem - from 2001 onwards they are scans of the OCC charts. It won't last save it to your computer whilst you still can!
  23. RED KITE posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
I believe there is a charge for archive data if you want the OCC full chart! - They won't give beyond the Top 40 for free.

I'm absolutely gutted too - I was going through this site and adding everything I could to Spotify - so far everything that was listed on Chartstats from the 50s, 60s 70s and 80s and could be found on Spotify has been added to two giant playlists. I was just starting on the 1990s - then this. Thankfully we do still have this: scans.chartarchive.org/UK/ , but as it's part of the original site I don't think it will be up for long. All the charts from 1970 onwards that were on Chartstats are uploaded here as PDF files - this means you can download the whole lot to your computer - it takes about half an hour save a whole year. Please can as many of us do this so that the info isn't lost and can be shared - there is also the UK Top 100 on there from January 1983 to April 1991 - If the OCC do extend the Charts on their site they are only likely to go as far as the Top 75.
  25. Why not post links to the websites that you use? - This will help get others involved. Also perhaps people could follow their chosen artists and post new release dates as and when they are announced provided someone else hasn't already done so?
