Mercury Prize 2019
Disappointed that Loyle Carner’s latest wasn’t included, feels like a big step up in quality to me; contrary to reviews. Of these acts, I think I’d most like Fontaines D.C. to win - incredible debut (though last song could’ve been dropped).

Spotify Chart Thread [July 2019]
Just when you think Dominic Fike’s “3 Nights” has hit its peak it goes and climbs a few more places! Would be great to see it hit the T10 officially, definition of a slow-burner hit.

Mercury Prize 2019
My predictions: - Foals - The 1975 - Little Simz - Loyle Carner - Dave - The Chemical Brothers - Slowthai - Fontaines D.C. Sadly I don’t think Skepta’s latest album is strong enough to get him nominated again, certainly not when better ‘rap’ albums like Dave and slowthai are out.

Track of the Week 2019 - Week 30
As much as I’m enjoying the Charli/Chris collaboration, Sam Smith’s “How Do You Sleep?” is easily the standout release from this week.
-
Dave & AJ Tracey - Thiago Silva
Not one of AJ Tracey’s best tracks either, but nice to see the Glastonbury performance getting this song into the charts at least.
-
Ed Sheeran - No.6 Collaborations Project
Listened through to this in full for the first time today, and wow - what a bore/chore. It just feels like he’s purposefully trying to reach too many markets with this album, and just marketing it as ‘experimental’. Someone may have mentioned it already in this thread, but part of the instrumental to “Put It All on Me” is a complete rip-off of Becky Hill’s “I Could Get Used to This”.
-
Lily Allen - TBA
Yeah, wasn’t expecting another album so soon; but she does talk in her book about how she’s on a lousy 5-album deal; so the quicker she gets out of it the better potentially...
-
David Guetta & Martin Solveig - Thing For You
Wonder whether this’ll have an interesting/guest vocalist too.
-
Jax Jones & Bebe Rexha - Harder
Feel like “One Touch” still hasn’t taken off properly, but here for new Jax Jones material nonetheless.
-
Stefflon Don & Lil Baby - Phone Down
It’s sounding great whenever I’ve heard it on the radio, just have to hope it can pick up on streaming; would be a deserving T40 hit!

Best #1 album of the year so far
Billie Eilish, though Dave, Tom Walker and Bring Me the Horizon are all great albums.

Best and Worst #1 Singles of 2019 so far...
Not the best year for #1s so far really... Best: Stormzy - Vossi Bop (and even then it's not THAT good, just OK) Worst: Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved :puke2:
-
AJ Tracey - AJ Tracey
Up to #18 in the mids, so hopefully - crazy to think a post-album single would do so well for him. Album has not long gone Silver too, which is great going!

+1 for Finesse should have gone ages ago, awful song!

Your favourite Becky Hill collab?
Incredible discography to date! "I Could Get Used To This" is my highlight - the new orchestral version is just incredible. 0N9Ae0LmWYg

“The Days” needs to go early... So glad this one didn’t really take off in the UK.

ROUND 14: Least Favourite Cardi B Single
“Finesse” :puke2:

Bastille - Doom Days
What a boring album from an otherwise great British band. “Joy” is the only standout track for me - I don’t see any singles beyond this doing well at all; which is a shame.

Ed Sheeran - No.6 Collaborations Project
Mixed feelings about the tracklisting. I’ll be giving the ‘album’ a few listens when it comes out for sure, just hoped he was going to collaborate with some more UK names (rather than US ones) - e.g., Skepta, Giggs, Stefflon Don. Great that Stormzy, Dave and J Hus all feature on this high profile release though, should do wonders for them (although Stormzy is headlining Glastonbury...)
