PRE-RELEASE PREDICTA: Calvin Harris & Sam Smith - Promises
I'm thinking this might be a bit of a low-key dance track from Calvin, and so might not debut all that high. This said, "One Kiss" wasn't THAT immediate a hit for me, but listening back to it now I can't believe I ever thought that. Expecting a T10 debut on Spotify on day 1, T5 debut on the chart (40-60k) - if it's good then hopefully it'll reach #1.

69. The 1975 - TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME That's three for three on the great singles from this upcoming album, excited to hear more!
-
OCC: Benny Blanco Best Sellers
"Eastside" is a great launch to his own solo career, I really hope the other tracks deliver (he said there are many more to come when speaking to Annie Mac the other week, including one with Calvin Harris on vocals).
-
Promises, with Sam Smith
I am here for this. Sam's vocals work brilliantly on dance tracks (see Disclosure x 2, Naughty Boy, plus any of his tracks' dance remixes) - fingers crossed it's a goodun'!
-
Jacob Plant & Becky Hill - Only Love
They've missed a trick by not releasing this over the Ibiza weekend/the week after when all the highlights are being played though, which is a shame. They should definitely still release, as R1 would undoubtedly playlist it + help it chart.
-
Stefflon Don - Secure
This better get streamed to hell and give Don another couple of T40 hits to her name - "Senseless" peaking at #65 (so far) is a crime!

Buzzjack's Track Of The Week
Votes for Gorgon City, Mura Masa, Robyn, Silk City, and Zayn, but only because I haven't heard most of the others just yet. I hope Gorgon City push this new single though - much more radio/chart friendly that some of the other recent tracks they've been putting out.

I think he could easily score a hit again in this climate, but might need to jump on a feature (e.g., for Steel Banglez, or another popular UK rapper) beforehand. It'd need to be something like what's out there at the moment too, rather than "Spaceship" or "Bright Lights" (his last two T10 singles, that were never released on a studio album).

They are all over with the exception of Liam it seems - he’s the only one releasing music at the moment that can hit the T40.

Kojo Funds feat. Bugzy Malone - Who Am I
New single from Kojo Funds (of "Check" (with Raye) and as a featured artist on Mabel's "Finders Keepers" fame), featuring big-in-the-grime-game rapper Bugzy Malone. Sounds pretty unique (at least from my perspective, as someone who dips in and out of grime), I wonder if it'll be a hit. TBvLgfdJkuo Thoughts?

It was also used on Love Island last night too, which we’ve seen does have some impact. In any case, I really hope it can become a hit.

Mercury Prize 2018
Heard + love: Everything Everything, Florence and the Machine, Jorja Smith, Lily Allen, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Wolf Alice Heard: Arctic Monkeys, Everything is Recorded, Novelist Not heard: King Krule, Nadine Shah (in fact, I'd never even heard of her), Sons of Kemet (again, hadn't heard of them) Hoping for Everything Everything or Lily Allen to win, though at the end of the day just being nominated is the achievement (though sad times for George Ezra, Liam Gallagher, Jon Hopkins, and Tom Misch).

Love Island • Series 4
Fingers crossed new Jack and new Laura are the next to go.
-
David Guetta feat. Anne-Marie - Don’t Leave Me Alone
All for Anne-Marie getting another hit, though I hope “Let Me Live” has its time to rise high in the charts before this one peaks.

Yup, and they are in the news because ticket sites accidentally leaked (potential) tour dates for 2020 (i.e., 10 years).

I really hope Arctic Monkeys DON’T get nominated - so much more deserving records. Fingers crossed for Superorganism, Everything Everything, Jorja Smith, and George Ezra.

Spotify Chart Thread 2018 [IV]
I've said it before, but I'll say it again: argh/urgh at this Drake track doing so well - the MJ collaboration is so much more deserving of this kind of (very likely) success!
