iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 11th December 2015
Were 1D performing both songs to see which would get the better reception as their 'last single' I wonder. Unless you actually know the track is called "Infinity", I actually found it quite hard to understand what they were saying - might be a reason why it's not had as big a boost at the moment as "History". Such a surprise seeing Stormzy T10 though with "Shut Up". It's managed 13 consecutive weeks in the T100 already, so it'd be great to see it hit the T40 officially - it's still doing well on streaming too so I think this is likely to happen if the sales hold up. I'd be all for backing a Stormzy for Christmas number-one campaign!

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 11th December 2015
To be fair, I don't think I caught any of the lyrics to Ben's new song, and all Olly said at the end was "and you have a new single out now" - I don't think he even mentioned it was "Slamming Doors"; people might've assumed it was just "Second Hand Heart". Disappointed to see a lack of boost in any case - wish the public would stop voting for people to win the competition who they have no intention of buying into one year down the line.

Christmas #1 2015 early predictions
I'd quite like to see the X-Factor winner claim multiple weeks at #1, but only if it's Louisa (and the cover actually sounds half decent). It'd be a real testament to Bieber's domination in 2015 though if he could claw back the number-one in time for Christmas.
-
What will be the first new #1 single of 2016
With Bieber dominating streaming right now, it's very likely that as the Christmas songs all fall out, his album tracks will be on the rise again and "Love Yourself" will still be very much in full swing. I'd quite like to see Coldplay nab a spot at #1 (on both charts actually) - depends how much we see of them at the end of the month (e.g. Top of the Pops x 2). Nothing on the release schedule seems to be a sure fire #1 - but don't forget we have Adele's second single (still "When We Were Young" I presume) to kick in and then the inevitable return of Rihanna at some point. Calvin Harris must have something new coming soon too, and I reckon Bruno Mars would do really well with an OA/OS release in Q1.

Apple Music chart discussion thread 2015
Thrilled that they've finally sorted this out - it was irritating just having another sales chart. Christmas songs all particularly low compared to Spotify, though I think that'll be more down to 'playlists' being less of a thing on Apple Music - at least certainly from my experience.

BBC Sound of 2016 predictions
VERY strong list imo. I'm actually familiar with all 15 artists - mostly just from listening to Annie Mac and occasionally Huw Stephens on R1. Jack Garratt as an early backing - it's obvious he'll do great things with radio support next year. I like to think they'll shortlist Mura Masa too - what talent!

BBC Sound of 2016 predictions
Jack Garratt, really? That's pretty irritating, given how much support the BBC have been giving him already this year; but I guess Critics Choice doesn't necessarily mean Sound of... support (see Emeli Sande).

Worldwide Hits that didn't chart in the UK Top 40?
"Man Down" by Rihanna did well in the EU and sold OK in other regions. Only hit #59 here, though admittedly it wasn't properly pushed as a single. Still bitter about Shakira's "Loca" too - released everywhere but here and Australia I believe (though you can get the album it features on).

12. Olly Murs "Kiss Me" 13. Rudimental "Lay It All on Me (feat. Ed Sheeran)" 28. Louisa Johnson "Let It Go (X Factor Performance)" 41. James Bay "Let It Go" 60. Mariah Carey "We Belong Together" 83. Che Chesterman "Yesterday (X Factor Performance)" 88. Lauren Murray "We Belong Together (X Factor Performance)" Hoping that performance can send Rudimental into the T10. Olly Murs' performance tomorrow should definitely send him into the T10 - I'm hearing "Kiss Me" everywhere at the moment and it's been climbing pretty much for the past two days on Kworb.

The vocals are from Clare Maguire of "Ain't Nobody" and "The Last Dance"/Sound of 2011 poll fame.

"Turning Tables" and "Rumour Has It" can't have both sold over 600k each surely? A lack of streaming will certainly damage Adele's chances of beating Bieber's feats from this week - hopefully once it's released on streaming sites though some of the tracks can enter the T40.

BBC Sound of 2016 predictions
Nao is sure to be included on their long list - need to have a dig around to find some more predictions. Love this time of the year when 'new' music for 2016 is all the talk on forums and blogs. Jack Garratt is already receiving the BBC Introducing prize at the BBC Music Awards - I'd like to think that honour excludes him from being long listed. I think it's a given he's going to do well next year with his album in January - and the BBC are already championing him.
