Sam Smith's re-release will just ensure the album sells consistently over the Christmas period, I doubt it'll be enough for it to challenge for #1 against the likes of Ellie Goulding, Little Mix, 1D, Adele etc. all with new albums. Ellie Goulding should win this battle though (6th November).

I agree that buying a CD/purchasing a song feels like the bigger contribution to the artist. My Apple Music trial expires in a few weeks though and I'm happy to continue paying the £9.99. As soon as I do, I'll feel as if all my streaming is making a bigger contribution. It's weird. There are some artists' CDs that I might have bought had I not been so easily able to just stream them on Apple Music and not go through the process of ordering the CD, burning etc.

Boo at R. City hitting #1, not really a fan to be honest - although it's quite nice to see something a little different doing so well. Yes at all those pre-orders doing well though. I love that Tinie Tempah raps "Top five, no less" - let's certainly hope it can live up to his prediction.

It's great to see MNEK doing so well, and with an OA/OS release at that, too. "Never Forget You" is a great pop track - would be nice to see it reach the T40 officially.

In the UK it'll be 1D for sure. I'd say the same for the US too actually, but we'll have to wait and see on that one.

I reckon this'll be a real grower of an album. It's nice listening at first, but nothing special by any means in the music scene dominated by dance music now. "Hourglass" stands out as the strongest track not only on this album but I dare say their discography entirely - instrumental is just superb!

Great start for Sam Smith. I was ever so slightly worried that it'd under perform on streaming this week; but it looks to be doing fine. Naughty Boy, Little Mix and Sia all pretty low though - not sure if any of them will make the T10 this week.

An interesting duet on paper - Kelly Clarkson is still very much deemed relevant by R1 so I can seem them potentially picking this up. Simon will be trying to promote a fair few acts around this Christmas time then: Ben, Fleur, 1D, Little Mix and there's always the possibility that Olly Murs will jump on the opportunity for an album re-release or new lead single. I reckon he'll try and push Fifth Harmony on UK X-Factor too.

Voting out "Hold On, We're Going Home" - the other two are THE standout tracks from his discography.

The whole 'A Bond theme has never reached #1' talk is definitely working in Sam Smith's favour I think, that and the fact it's a great song. I'd much rather see that at the summit than R. City, urgh. Bit disappointed with the new Little Mix track though (although I really don't like "Black Magic" either) - it'll be a long running hit though I reckon, it's got real winter-y vibes to it as so many people pointed out on the radio this morning. Impressed seeing Sia in the T10 on iTunes, though if Naughty Boy couldn't hit T10 officially after a week in the T5 then I won't hold my breath.
