Still, a surprise but a lovely one to hear they're gonna give new music a go. They all look amazing in this photoshoot!

It was quite amusing hearing that interview again. Especially with how thick Cheryl and Nadine's accents were back then - and Nicola's a bit as well!

Full digital single package for "Sound Of The Underground" is out tomorrow - including the interview from CD2, the Brian Higgins Remix that wasn't on the deluxe CD and the instrumental of "Stay Another Day". Hopefully Fascination have got the other singles planned as they did with The Saturdays and Appleton!

My replacement arrived on Monday. No damage on this one thank goodness, although fortunately I kept hold of the damaged one as the art card (which wasn't damaged) was included but it wasn't on the replacement. Just debating what to do with the damaged one! Maybe make a little clock out of it...?

I think looked at objectively, yes the timing of the book coming out is probably not ideal for potential ramifications it may have. But the way I see it is it was Hannah's decision to bow out of doing the tour, and I completely respect her decisions for not doing it. And I admire her for wanting to write and speak about her truth. Same as I respect the others for going ahead and for still doing something to mark their legacy and also fittingly remember Paul. Is it the situation any of us wanted a few months ago when this tour was announced and there was so much anticipation and good will building? No. But this is how the cards have been dealt now, that's life. People die. People move on from jobs or places or situations that they don't feel comfortable in anymore. It would be very easy to sit there and dwell on the negative and write a whole tour off before it's even really happened. I'm still going to the tour, same as I'm going to read Hannah's book. The one who really deserves ire in all of this is Simon Fuller, and he will get what's coming to him. The fans are not stupid, they know the band aren't at the heart of any tension.

I will have to plead the fifth here and speak up in defence of "Year Of The Wolf" - I thought that was such a beautiful record and really well produced with Bernard Butler. Great singles from it too, I loved "Turn Me On Again" and "History Boys". "Stay Lucky" was a brilliant album too, I loved "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter" and "Man Didn't Walk On The Moon" in particular from it. I do agree re: single version of "Sophia". It wasn't needed.

Nerina Pallot has long been one of my favourite singers and songwriters - largely ever since her breakthrough second album almost 18 years ago, "Fires", which had the top 40 singles "Everybody's Gone To War" and "Sophia", for which she subsequently was BRIT Award and Ivor Novello nominated, and she also of course went onto write and produce songs for Kylie Minogue for her "Aphrodite" album in 2010! Still a banger. Honestly. The total shade and ignorance of the British record buying public of 2005. Buying f***ing Peter Kay and Amarillo and Crazy Frog by the truckload and leaving this album for dirt! I am manifesting that this gets the anniversary flowers it deserves in 2025.

I had the strongest feeling that something like this was coming, especially with all the rumours doing the rounds about contract disputes after she bowed out the tour. I think we can safely say Simon Fuller is about to be torn a new one - and rightly so!

This came up in my Spotify "Discover Weekly" playlist. Emilie Cunliffe - to give her her full name - is the daughter of former Hear'Say and Coronation Street star Kym Marsh (they're actually touring together in the Take That musical Greatest Days at the moment). This is actually not bad at all - got a bit of a bluesy, jazzy feel to it. Pleasantly surprising!

Mine arrived today but I'm gonna have to return it for an exchange straight away. The vinyl was rammed down into the paper sleeve - which is damaged - and thus there's a load of heavy sticky marks which despite my best efforts to clean are now embedded in, rendering it unplayable. Honestly, FML 😒

Got a replacement through returns, yes - fortunately that one wasn't scuffed!

I have it on good word from Popjustice that a digital deluxe edition of the album plus the three singles (b-sides, remixes and all) are arriving on streaming and download tomorrow!

I did find it quite amusing that the album re-entered at the same position as the reissue with the white cover and "Jump" and "Girls On Film" did when that came out in December 2003 ^_^ Predictably, over on Popjustice they've descended into doomsayers catastrophising this and saying the other reissues won't happen. Let's be realistic for a second here; this is their least successful or fondly remembered album, all things considered. Not great that it was so front loaded at the start of the week, true. But on balance, for a 20 year old album that had already sold over 300k, it's not a bad result. Peter and Fascination obviously - and quite rightly - didn't want to overdo it with the formats, particularly since the more successful albums are still to come. I am sure that they A) won't be scrapping this reissues series altogether and B) that we'll get the other video remasters in due course. Chris Fox dropped the hint on the post from the No Good Advice video that it was on the way, anyway!

So Girls Aloud did come out on top - relatively speaking - re-entering at #42 (which spookily was the position it re-entered at when the reissue with "Jump" and "Girls On Film" came out in December 2003!) Dannii re-entered at #55. No sign of Appleton in the top 100 BUT they did make the top 30 of the Independent Album Chart and Vinyl Album Chart!

Obviously no sign of this on the top 100 this week, but: #22 on Independent Album Chart #28 on Vinyl Album Chart #46 on Physical Album Chart Not a shabby set of statistics at all, that!
