What an absolutely idiotic ruling re: signed CD singles. Do the OCC have any idea what they're doing, when they're the ones who were trumpeting it's revival just shy of two years ago (https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/cd-single-sales-surge-in-the-uk-as-ed-sheeran-abba-coldplay-and-more-return-to-the-format__34089) and are basically killing off the incentive to do them stone dead? Why should other artists who were doing them - Leigh-Anne for one, Craig David for another as he did one for "Who You Are" with MNEK - suffer just because of Lewis Capaldi? It's just not fair.

Didn't want to link to The S*n so sharing this here: I mean I know it's only one single but I'm so here for this regardless! Loved *NSYNC and I still do.

That quadrant of #1s from 2000 - All Saints, Madge, LeAnn Rimes, DC. Runs rings around almost all the rest of that list. I also now have a strong urge to watch Coyote Ugly. #hellnoh2o
  4. Don't let's not even get started with how much McFly trash their old eras. Room On The 3rd Floor is 20 next year, and whilst in my head I know what I'd like to see, the reality will probably be quite different 🤣
  5. It was always credited as Tinchy Stryder featuring N-Dubz when it came out, wasn't it? It's funny actually cause I had "Number 1" on again quite recently, it's still a great track, no surprises it's their bestseller. I'm seeing Tinchy in October as it happens cause he's just been announced as support act for JLS for their new tour. PS Glad you had a nice time meeting them yesterday Slayer!
  6. Do you think we'll get a TV performance anywhere anytime soon? Strictly's gonna be back on in a month's time so I'm thinking launch show might be a springboard if they go for it.
  7. Of course the Hate Mail will want to try and portray Simon Fuller as the innocent party in all of this (multimillionaires etc). When - let's call a spade a spade - Hannah is absolutely in the right here. He can't still treat them like it's 25 years ago in terms of their renumeration. I call planted bulls*** from 19 on this.

Her latest newsletter that went out yesterday confirms that an as yet unnamed venue in London has been booked for Saturday 13th April next year, with tickets going on sale end of September. I imagine that's when we'll be getting pre-orders etc!
  9. As I said on the Hannah book thread, it's patently obvious to me that the issue here is neither her or the rest of the band. It's Simon Fuller. Of course we'll just have to wait a few more months to see what the book brings but my gut feeling is that he's at the centre of what's happened here since Paul died. And I agree with you Slayer, it's not nice for the rest of the band to have to be answering questions about articles from "sources" when they're wanting to focus on the tour and promote a single which obviously has a really personal meaning to them all. (Although side note, I was legit expecting a Highgate mum PR rep from 19 Management to come storming in a la Liquid News when Craig started asking about it)
  10. Not strictly true what their first album lost to, because it didn't actually peak at #2 until February 2003, after "Year 3000" came out, and then again after "Sleeping With The Light On" came out in late August 2003. On both occasions, they were stopped by Justin Timberlake ("Justified") and Eva Cassidy ("American Tune").
  11. Also confirmed as "Record Of The Week" at Radio 2 all next week as well!

15 years, wow. I remember watching their first TV performance in the dresses from the video - forget what the show was called now. Some short lived thing sponsored by a phone company, because 2008 🤣 I so wish they'd just get back and do just one more tour and the greatest hits on vinyl, that's all I'd need. I'm sure Rochelle can take five minutes away from being a shampoo and M&S #bossqueen for that.
  13. Full digital EP out today:

I saw her yesterday at Flackstock, the festival in memory of Caroline Flack that's now in its second year. The performance of "Together Again" was such a special one, thought I'd share it here: kXskHaXiKrk She also did "Super Magic" and "Stay": DZuDNDni2cw 6X_enyEblKE
  16. Tinchy Stryder has been confirmed as support act today: rAnTpgIlu5c
  17. I mean to be fair using an existing chorus and planting it into a new song wouldn't be a first for 19 Management - if I'm not mistaken S Club 8's Sundown utilised some of the lyrics from another song by an Australian Popstars winner, did it not? Still, a surprise but a lovely one to hear they're gonna give new music a go. They all look amazing in this photoshoot!
  18. Couldn't see an existing single topic (but if there is feel free to merge). Anyway, the 4K version of the girls in their Bacofoil finest has now landed. I can practically hear Cheryl wincing in agony 🤣
  19. New dates in Glasgow and Oslo went on sale today: @1679780548657512448
  20. It was quite amusing hearing that interview again. Especially with how thick Cheryl and Nadine's accents were back then - and Nicola's a bit as well!
  21. Full digital single package for "Sound Of The Underground" is out tomorrow - including the interview from CD2, the Brian Higgins Remix that wasn't on the deluxe CD and the instrumental of "Stay Another Day". Hopefully Fascination have got the other singles planned as they did with The Saturdays and Appleton!
  22. My replacement arrived on Monday. No damage on this one thank goodness, although fortunately I kept hold of the damaged one as the art card (which wasn't damaged) was included but it wasn't on the replacement. Just debating what to do with the damaged one! Maybe make a little clock out of it...?
  23. I think looked at objectively, yes the timing of the book coming out is probably not ideal for potential ramifications it may have. But the way I see it is it was Hannah's decision to bow out of doing the tour, and I completely respect her decisions for not doing it. And I admire her for wanting to write and speak about her truth. Same as I respect the others for going ahead and for still doing something to mark their legacy and also fittingly remember Paul. Is it the situation any of us wanted a few months ago when this tour was announced and there was so much anticipation and good will building? No. But this is how the cards have been dealt now, that's life. People die. People move on from jobs or places or situations that they don't feel comfortable in anymore. It would be very easy to sit there and dwell on the negative and write a whole tour off before it's even really happened. I'm still going to the tour, same as I'm going to read Hannah's book. The one who really deserves ire in all of this is Simon Fuller, and he will get what's coming to him. The fans are not stupid, they know the band aren't at the heart of any tension.

I will have to plead the fifth here and speak up in defence of "Year Of The Wolf" - I thought that was such a beautiful record and really well produced with Bernard Butler. Great singles from it too, I loved "Turn Me On Again" and "History Boys". "Stay Lucky" was a brilliant album too, I loved "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter" and "Man Didn't Walk On The Moon" in particular from it. I do agree re: single version of "Sophia". It wasn't needed.

Nerina Pallot has long been one of my favourite singers and songwriters - largely ever since her breakthrough second album almost 18 years ago, "Fires", which had the top 40 singles "Everybody's Gone To War" and "Sophia", for which she subsequently was BRIT Award and Ivor Novello nominated, and she also of course went onto write and produce songs for Kylie Minogue for her "Aphrodite" album in 2010! Anyway, turns out in her latest newsletter (which is excellent by the way, if you're not signed up to it) that she is currently compiling new liner notes for a deluxe reissue of the album on vinyl and CD in the spring next year: https://nerinapallot.substack.com/p/some-po..._medium=reader2 Also exciting is that she is planning a big one off show in London with a full band and live orchestra to perform the album in full and some of her other classics next April - date TBC. I am so there for all of it because it's still such a brilliant album - any other Nerina fans on Buzzjack?
